This is the only independent music shop in Folkestone and before HMV arrived a year ago it was our…read moreonly music shop at all! They sell a good selection of genres mainly on CD. They do sell some vinyl, mainly singles but also a few albums too. They also have posters, clothing, badges and patches and some guitar accessories. They are very helpful in this shop, they use the internet to answer any customers requests and will order in anything they do not have in stock. The other thing I like is that they give away all of their ex-promotional posters to anyone who asks, this is a very nice added extra that you would probably not find in a chain shop. Their prices are quite competitive too.

Fives are also a champion for local music and are a real help to local unsigned bands, offering in-store showcases, selling vinyl/ CDs with little or no mark up and always promoting gigs. With an excellent selection of vinyl and a really great catalogue of blues, jazz and classical as well as all the new releases there really is something for everyone if you have time to browse. Also if you need something they will order it in and call you when it's in. Great service, great shop and independent! Hope it's around in Leigh for many more years.

From the prices that they charge you'd think that you were getting some great service but they don't seem particularly interested in making either conversation or recommendations so all the times I've visited its been somewhat of a sombre affair. I must be honest I don't even remember them having music playing which is odd for a record shop??? Its a shame because with a bit of love and attention it could be truly great. The stock is there, its just laid out in such a drab fashion that it makes you forget it existed. Get rid of the dull grey cantilever wall racks, make it look a bit more airy and up to date and perhaps involve some customer service and it would go far!

Mac will always sort you out with his best deal i.e. taking on your old stock for his new stock. It's just a shame they don't stock anything like Taylor and some Fender. Also decline any offer for tea or coffee as the kettle is rubbish.

A definite must stop for the vinyl junkie when visiting London…read more Once upon a time record stores dotted the landscape on this side of the pond, but, as in the US, that is no longer the case. This store is a passion project and while physically it's not a huge location, browsing here you'll find loads of attractive vinyl, of both the 7" and 12" variety, all reasonably priced. You'll also find an owner (and I'm sure a staff, though I was fortunate enough on my visit to meet the owner Claudia) who is passionate about music and happy to chat with you about your favorite artists. She may even share some of hers as well. I have to say, she has great taste. Classic 60's soul (Al Green, Aretha, Motown and Stax), all are present here, as are so many other classic artists. The selection is primarily used, though there is plenty of new vinyl to be found, and while it skews on the Soul, R&B, and Reggae side, you will find Pop, Rock, as well as Dance and other genres represented. If you don't see what you're looking for, be sure to ask the staff. If it can be ordered, they'll be happy to do so. Brixton is lucky to have Pure Vinyl, and when I visit next I'd love to see more of this type of music outlet in London. Maybe even another location?

Haven't thought of this place in years but it just popped in my mind so wanted to leave a review…read more Spent a week in London in 2010 and felt I needed to seek out something punk while I was there. Left my group that I was with and took off to the other side of the city and found this place. It was perfect. Spent a bunch of time talking to the staff and some other patrons about punk in the US and the UK and got some great local recommendations from them (though wish someone had recommended Frank Turner to me then - I was practically on his doorstep and now I love him lol). Would love to come back and explore again.

The fact that you can see a Snazzy Boys poster in the photo says it all for me. Found a nice sale bin of 7"s that were buy 2 get 1 free, can't beat that. A good stop after you hit the market (or before).
