The manager upsold me a wiper replacement for my 2011 Mercedes. While traveling on the interstate this past Wednesday in a rainstorm on the way to Miami, the passenger side wiper blade flew off. I continued through the rainstorm with no driver side wiper. The next day I had it replaced by a Mercedes repair shop in Miami. The shop charged me $50.00. The shop told me that the wiper assembly that the Nokomis store sold me was not an appropriate replacement assembly for that car. I went into the Nokomis store today thinking that under the circumstances a $50.00 credit would be offered to me for what I spent on the new wiper blades. The manager refused this, only offering a $20.00 credit. I would put this in the category of poor customer service and faulty business logic as my wife and I will not be returning to that shop for future tire replacement.

There were complications with getting off the flat tire due to locked lug-nuts, that were unfortunately stripped by the last mechanic that worked on it at a different business. The extremely kind mechanic that worked on it this day at tires plus, he worked on it for almost 3 hours manually chipping away at the locked lug nut to get it off. It was my daughter's birthday, and we were out of town, so we would have been stuck in that city, or forced to get a rental and leave my car if he wouldn't have put in the long hours of work trying to get it off. One of the issues was a brake light and they literally broke the dash out of his truck trying to find the light problem. Worst part was that they said nothing about it, nothing. They just laid the pieces that they broke on the passenger seat. The manager picked him up with the shuttle van and took him back to get his truck and HE NEVER SAID A WORD. Part of this issue was found on a previous visit and was unable to repair at that time. We were unaware of the brake light situation because his father previously took care of this. For some reason, they called his father and they agreed to take the labor off and still charged over 200.00 for whatever they did besides break the dash. Not recommending this shop in any way. We are all adults here. Don't take advantage of a young man that is just starting to understand repair shops since his father previously took care of all of it, and is now gone. It was weird that they called him because he now has nothing to do with this. Be better and don't take advantage of customers.

What I found interesting was one of the two said "I see the screw causing the leak and it is definitely unrepairable." The irony was he wasn't even pointing to the sheetrock screw the other kid identified. So they gave me a price of $279 installed for a new tire... I left and remembered seeing this little garage listed on Yelp, "Dave's Garage" and that's where I headed. Dave was by himself today and some guy had an appointment so he politely said, pull the Buick in, the guy is a half hour late already. He took the tire off, repaired it and proceeded to tell me his stories. He has had quite a past. But he has been operating in Venice for 19 years. As he finished the repair and another story, he said $20 sir. I gave him $25 and said $20 for the repair and a small tip for entertaining me today. All I can say is this guy is the real deal; a throwback to my childhood 60+ years ago when I used to hang out at McWilliams Garage near my house. Honest, highly qualified, and full of life's stories. He's a great mechanic and a good person.

I made an appointment to have the oil changed at 1:00 on a Friday and it went really well. The service writer was very helpful and courteous. It took about 45 minutes and the cost was reasonable. No upsell, no delay, just quick service. I overhear several phone calls with customers while I was waiting that sounded very professional and honest. The waiting room was the cleanest that I have ever experienced in a small shop like this. They had water and seltzer in a mini fridge. They also had a Kurig for coffee. I recommend them to anyone needing service. Thanks for a great service experience.

AAA failed to respond for a flat tire. I tried Emergency Road Service through State Farm and got…read moreno response. It was 12:30 am 1-1-24. About 3:30 am, i called Venice Wrecker Service. She said someone would be out within an hour. The gentleman arrived in less than 15 minutes. He inflated the spare using a portable compressor and removed the damaged tire and installed the spare within a hour! All for $80.00! I wished I had called them sooner. Thanks so much fir coming to our rescue!
