I highly recommend Dave's Garage in Venice. Dave has performed several repairs on my older vehicles, and every experience has been outstanding. He has always been able to get me in quickly, diagnose the problem accurately, and complete the repairs in a timely manner with high-quality workmanship. What impresses me most is Dave's knowledge and honesty. He takes the time to explain what's wrong, what needs to be fixed, and just as importantly what doesn't need to be fixed. In a business where unnecessary repairs can add up fast, I truly appreciate that Dave focuses on what is actually needed and has saved me a lot of money because of it. If you're looking for a trustworthy mechanic who does quality work, stands behind his repairs, and treats customers fairly, Dave's Garage is the place to go. Five stars! read more

I'm so glad I found Dave's Garage. These days, it's so easy to get overcharged for even simple car repairs, but Dave has honestly saved me thousands of dollars by being fair, honest, and willing to work with me on the price without ever sacrificing the quality of the work. He's been doing this for so long that he's like a true car encyclopedia--he just knows the ins and outs of everything. There's no runaround or unnecessary repairs, just honest advice and really good work. I'm genuinely grateful I found a mechanic I can trust, and I wish more people knew about Dave's Garage! read more

Last year Dave installed new brake pads and rotors on my CRV. I only had a 3-hour window to do the job before leaving on a trip so he put everyone in the shop on it and finished early! Cost was very reasonable - much less than the dealer quote. This year I returned to ask about a worrisome brake noise. He checked it out immediately and explained what was happening and how to deal with it. He declined any payment even though he spent about 45 minutes with me. Dave is a truly honest man and a great mechanic. His garage is my first choice for auto service. read more

Dave is just one honest mechanic. I had a tire that was giving me fits...it had a slow leak that I could not locate for the life of me. I first went to Mavis and two young guys looked at the tire and said it could not be repaired; tire had to be replaced. What I found interesting was one of the two said "I see the screw causing the leak and it is definitely unrepairable." The irony was he wasn't even pointing to the sheetrock screw the other kid identified. So they gave me a price of $279 installed for a new tire... I left and remembered seeing this little garage listed on Yelp, "Dave's Garage" and that's where I headed. Dave was by himself today and some guy had an appointment so he politely said, pull the Buick in, the guy is a half hour late already. He took the tire off, repaired it and proceeded to tell me his stories. He has had quite a past. But he has been operating in Venice for 19 years. As he finished the repair and another story, he said $20 sir. I gave him $25 and said $20 for the repair and a small tip for entertaining me today. All I can say is this guy is the real deal; a throwback to my childhood 60+ years ago when I used to hang out at McWilliams Garage near my house. Honest, highly qualified, and full of life's stories. He's a great mechanic and a good person. read more

I called Dave's Garage to see if he would inspect a used car that I was buying, and he was truly amazing for the whole process. Over the phone he told me everything that I should look out for during my initial test drive, and when I brought the car in to his shop he walked me through the whole inspection, even when it was on the lift. He made sure that I was able to see everything he was seeing, and he pointed out everything that I needed to pay attention to while I have the car. He only charged $50 for the half hour inspection, and at the end I asked him if there was anything that I should fix immediately. Instead of trying to upsell me, he told me the warning signs and said that I would probably be able to drive the car for another 30,000 miles before needing any repairs. Dave really went above and beyond. I'll definitely go to him if I have any issues, so long as my car can make it. If you can make it to him, you won't be let down. He really knows his stuff and he's a good man. read more

My first dealing with Dave's Garage was a referral through TireRack's website last summer. Dave and his crew put new tires on my wife's BMW and saved us $HUNDREDS vs. what the BMW dealership wanted to charge. We've used Dave's Garage a couple more times since then. Most recently, they saved us $HUNDREDS again on an ABS control module compared to the exclusive Bavarian auto repair shop in town, or the BMW dealership in Sarasota. Dave's Garage has the same hi tech scanners the dealerships have and they consistently deliver service that is above and beyond expectations. They are my go to auto repair/ tires/ maintenance shop now for both our Toyota and BMW. They will save you money by not doing work that is unnecessary. read more

Dave has been our family mechanic for years, and I'm ashamed to say I haven't written a review before this! If you want a reputable, HONEST, reasonable mechanic, go to Dave's shop. He takes the time to explain everything in detail to you about the repair. A man who dots his I's and crosses his T's. He even hopped in his car to help me with a flat tire on the bypass. It is my pleasure to highly recommend him. read more

Just came from Dave's, and I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received. He mounted and balanced 4 tires on my car with a friendly smile through the entire process. When the job was completed he asked me how the air pressure in my spare tire was. Told him I had no idea, so he checked it and brought it up to pressure. It was at 8 psi. Thanks Dave for your unmatched attention to detail! read more

I was quoted a price of $89 for an alignment for my auto. When I called to inquire about the progress and whether or not i could pick it up, I was told it was on the rack and I could come up. When I got there, I waited for an hour and then was told that I could not have it till the next day because it was out of alignment. When I picked it up the next day the charge had increased to 135. In addition to the inconvenience of making two attempts to pick it up, I was charged more than quoted because "they had trouble removing bolts" read more
