Lisa is this most friendly and thoughtful of hostesses and has lovingly put together an upstairs suite (each of 2 rooms sleeps 2 adults, and possibly, one child) full of homey details. It's sort of upscale English/Americana Country Chic with many thoughtful features with the guest in mind. I immediately felt at home: it was quiet, the energy was blissful and we had two great nights. The room was soothing, large, full of awesome reading material and no distractions from outside or the room next door. My man is a vegetarian and we came with a cooler full of eating options. We didn't know, but the room comes well-stocked with Peet's (YES PEET'S!) coffee and Tazo teas. We didn't need our hastily packed paper plates, cups or utensils, because real china, silverware and many other little snacks were provided (free of charge). What a find! For those of your picky Yelpers, there is no "breakfast" at this B&B, but instead they leave you with nice biscuits/scones to accompany your free coffee or tea. You are within one block of the entire downtown Pescadero town, and naturally, you probably want to eat at Duarte's anyway. I believe it has a 2 night minimum for one room at $98/night, other arrangements, see website or call Lisa. Sitah and Dale (the owners) and their staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Their affable mien, as well as their superb culinary skills, made our stay memorable and deeply satisfying. We chose the East Room. It is lovingly decorated, spacious, and well-furnished. The queen size bed, desks, sofa, mini-fridge, and heater that warms up the toilet seat provide just about all of the creature comforts one needs. The room also has a fire stove to delight the pyromaniacs and a huge, deep stone soaker tub that can easily accommodate two sumo wrestlers (or half a dozen jockeys). A couple of things to note: (1) There's no cell phone reception (at least not T-Mobile or Sprint). But there is free WiFi. (2) While the windows and skylights may infuse the room with a bright and cheery feel, they may make it hard for you to sleep in late. So don't forget to pack your sleep mask.

But, on a whim, we decided to take a trek to Bonny Doon on our way to another venue location and I happened upon the Redwood Croft for a potential place for out of town guests to stay. And wouldn't you know it, they mentioned they host events on their website! My now husband and I took a day and drove down the coast from San Mateo and stopped in to chat with Sitah about her home. The place was (is!) stunning and from the moment we set foot on the grounds, we knew it was the perfect place to get married. Sitah and Dale charge a reasonable amount for the 2 night rental of their whole B&B, plus having nearly 100 people on-site for a wedding! It was so magical to spend the night there before the wedding, then to wake up and eat Sitah's homemade blueberry pancakes (which she made a batch gluten free for me! So amazing!) and spend the rest of the day primping and relaxing before we said "I do!" on their beautiful back lawn and garden. They made everything go so smoothly and they opened their home to my family for the weekend -- it made the wedding weekend just sublime. Before we had our big day, the hub and I spent an impromptu overnighter at the Croft, just to get a feel for it. Our night was peaceful (we stayed in the East Room) and I can't wait to go back now and spend special weekends and anniversaries there. What's almost just as amazing is our story is almost EXACTLY the same as Leslie's from 2008. Our vision was to rent a big home for the weekend where we could have our families together with our closest 2 friends. All the other guests would be staying nearby (Capitola Best Western & Seacliff Resort). The wedding rehearsal dinner would be Friday eve (a reunion of sorts with old friends) followed by the wedding service & reception on Saturday where we would have all guests joining. Sunday was all about relaxing together, then Monday we'd checkout. We visited 2 places in the Monterey area and decided on Bella Carmel. But after a protracted conversation with the owner Larry Scholink we found that the proposed price was nearly double what was originally listed. That was due to hidden costs like a $3K "event fee", a much higher nightly price and other exhorbitant stuff. We had previously contacted Brooke at Villa Viscaya, so when we got back in touch thankfully the dates we were interested in. So we booked with Brooke Greene, who manages the property for Nestlin. Working with Brooke was fantastic. She is not only very articulate and intelligent, but she was extremely helpful when it came to aiding our wedding planning. She helped us think through our options and provided suggestions on everything from where to have the service to where to place the wedding cake. Just like with Leslie's experience, Brooke gave us excellent referrals. We used a caterer for the Friday rehearsal dinner (about 20 people) plus a bartender & florist for the wedding. All were sincere professionals who offered exceptional service at extremely reasonable rates. When our families, friends and guests arrived to Villa Viscaya, they were blown away about how grande the place actually is. You really do feel like you're in a mansion, starting with the foyer and topping off with the spectacular ocean views that seem accessible from everywhere in the house. Fortunately for us the weather was great - sunny and 70's. We had the service on the lawn under an lighted arch we brought, then had the reception dinner overlooking the ocean - ending at sunset. The reception party was in a combined area between the dining room and Veranda, so guests could be both inside & outside (able to look out to see an ocean view and the lighted arch on the lawn). In all it was just a fantastic experience. How can you miss with your families and closest friends with you for 3 nights in a beautiful home with amazing views? Not only that, but it felt like we had a $30K++ wedding for less than half that.

Brooke was very helpful and responsive; Ivy who was there for the day-of was the most amazing person and helped us out with favors, finding people we needed for pics etc and even helped serve food at one point; Kurt is their main day-to-day person at the house and he knows this place like the back of his hand. He was very helpful. We wanted an intimate setting for our wedding as we had under 40 guests attend. We decided on a vacation rental as we could have our families close by and visited a few in the Carmel/Monterey area. Villa Viscaya is so far above and beyond any of the other vacation rentals we looked at. I'm generally leery of vacation rentals as usually the places aren't kept up great, the furniture is drab and dusty, and it's overall not as nice as my house. However, this place didn't feel used or run down. The furniture is nicely kept, the carpet is clean and great, and overall everything was just superb. Our guests were so stunned by the house, as were our families staying there. All weekend long everyone was just saying how great it was, and finding another excuse to rent it again! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting for the wedding. And best of all, we even had whales playing in the ocean during our reception - which everyone got up to watch! So great!! The other thing I'll say is the pictures don't do it justice. I'm not sure any pictures could prepare you for how stunning this house is!

This is rather simple. The property is average for a beach rental. Were minor issues like sheets…read morenot being changed and full of sand. But over all I decent stay. The issue and a big issue is. Paying a cleaning fee and a security deposit that the owner keeps at their discretion. In our case the house was left clean and good order. No damage or over the edge cleaning. In our case a $250 charge for the owners feeling a dog was at the house. There wasn't outside of a friends half day visit. Bottom line, after renting in Santa Cruz every year for the past 15, you can find better.

She knew I was concerned I wouldn't know how to run a popcorn machine. I am always a concerned when I am using other people's money makers..lol...I don't want to mess it up. Anyhow, she was thorough in her directions. Even left me a printed instructions sheet to refer to. The popcorn was the highlight of the training. But when it was my time slot, the spa was a disaster of towels piled up everywhere on jacuzzi top & over floor & no electricity so no hot water. No apology & no spa time in 4 mos I was there. I even pd their groundsman 50./ day for a month, to bring me to work & back when my car broke down. This cheating nasty spa establishment is a bad memory loss of my refund. WARNING ALERT DO NOT GO HERE !!! I have reported to agencies. I have yet to report to TV investigators for loss of my refund elder abuse practices. My VENMO REFUND REQUEST IGNORED. NO STAR FRAUDULENT BIZ PRACTICES.

The property is absolutely gorgeous with tropical landscaping and panoramic views of redwoods. The spa was amazing. You get 90 minutes per night included with your stay. The spa has a hot tub, cold plunge, sauna, shower and bathroom. There is an amazing sound system, plenty of towels, robes, and sanitized slipper sandals. We stayed Friday and Saturday night. Friday, we had the whole property to ourselves. Saturday, we saw another couple or two. Since the property is adults only, the entire stay was very quiet and peaceful. Once we got done in the spa we took the path down to the private lake. There is no swimming, but we spent a long time out there watching the ducks and a deer. We stayed in the "charming studio" which was the perfect size for a couple. The bed was comfortable. The room had remote controlled AC. There was a studio apartment sized fridge/freezer, a microwave and a toaster oven. Plenty of dishes. The bathroom was large for a studio and had shampoo/conditioner/body wash and again, plenty of towels. The hosts, Oleg and Elada were extremely nice and welcoming. They live on the property near the cottages. Elada greeted us with a bottle of wine and tour of the property, including the entrance to a private hiking trail. Later on, Oleg told us some history about the property. He mentioned that due to the expense of maintaining such a large and beautiful property, they are considering converting the cottages into long-term rentals. I feel so lucky we were able to stay there before then. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a calm and relaxing getaway. Book sooner rather than later, since this place may not be available for short-term rentals for much longer! Notes: - Book directly on their website to avoid Airbnb's fee - Google map directions were accurate - No 4WD/high clearance car required - I recommend doing the drive there in daylight, at least for the first time, due to the last few miles being narrow and winding.

We only stayed an overnight but it more than met our needs! It's very nearby to places nearby such as restaurants and a nice beach, but is a bit further down from the much busier Capitola Beach, which we liked. It's just about right in between Capitola Beach and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. The price was fair overall considering it was a Saturday night in Capitola, especially last minute. I would recommend a stay at Pelican Point Inn!

Which part of 'night' do you not understand. Idiots running the show. A complete waste of time and money. Do not bother. Ruined my weekend. Ick. Go to the West Cliff or Sea and Sand. They were much more friendly and accomodating.

I can't say enough about this place!…read more Mary our hostess was so nice welcoming and helpful. She made us feel like we were staying at a friend's house. Our room had an incredible view. I can't believe the description was a partial view. It definitely was more than a partial view. We had a soaking tub with whirlpool jets. A king size bed and a fireplace. A miniature refrigerator, and bathrobes to use while we were there. They have a wine and cheese hour from 4:30-5:30 every evening and it also had chocolate chip cookies and veggie tray. The breakfast in the morning was so delicious with an assortment of breads, homemade granola and muesli, fresh fruit, quiche and fresh baked cake (lemon, banana, and blueberry were the flavors the days we stayed). The location is walking distance to the pier, boardwalk, and downtown. Depending on how far you like walking we walked to Natural Bridge State Park and it was 2.7 miles. When I scanned their website I immediately thought I was mistakenly looking at an inn in Mendocino. But nope... right on the edge of West Cliff Drive and just above the boardwalk, this restored Victorian is an oasis of peace, grace, and refined luxury in Lost Boys-land. You can't miss this restored white Italian Revival beauty with a commanding view of the Giant Dipper and the neon glitz of the Beach Boardwalk. Once inside you'll be struck by the high ceilings and windows, clean lines, tasteful color palettes, and spotless housekeeping. We stayed in the ADA room on the ground floor, but I still walked to the top of the stairs just to see the stained glass dome over the ceiling over the stairway. Stunning! The room was not enormous but it was efficient and comfortable and met my mobility needs. Loved the walk in shower with a shower chair. Body wash and shampoo/conditioner are all provided and smelled great. The gas fireplace in the room was welcome as it was still chilly in April. As for hospitality, checking in was quick and friendly. The front desk clerk at check-in was courteous and all smiles. Check-out front desk attendant wasn't the warmest, but nothing that would put me off a return. We enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese/cracker hour at 430pm and the hot breakfast buffet in the morning was delicious and filling. We had it arranged in advance for in room dining and it was great! If I were to drum up a single critique of this visit it would be that the parking area is tight and requires some care to navigate. There are enough spaces for the number of rooms but... we noticed some guests were not very mindful of the parking space lines. Will I be back? Abso-effing-lutely?
