Their billing practices are flawed. In April of 2025 I tried this practice for an eye exam. They told me I had insurance coverage, which was a pleasant surprise. They collected my $90, and I was on my way. Months later I got a bill for an additional $210 (a violation of the No Surprises Act). I called the office, and the woman I spoke to told me the bill didn't look right, looked really messed up, and she would do some further research and get back to me promptly. I was very happy with how she handled the call, but I never heard back. I've since called on three separate occasions. On one of the occasions, I was told the practice outsources all their billing and they couldn't help me if they wanted to. I asked for a reasonable timeframe to hear back, and the woman told me 48 hours. That was grossly inaccurate. I'd call a fifth time, but this practice has clearly demonstrated that won't be effective. My time is valuable, and 19 weeks after my initial appointment this mess still hasn't been resolved. Perhaps someone will get back to me after reading this review. UPDATE: promptly after I posted this review, Caitlin from the practice called. She was polite, forthright, and literally used the phrase "We take ownership" for the mistakes that happened. Bottom line: these people are human, they made mistakes, and though they took too long to rectify the problem they ultimately made it right. I'll likely be going back to give the practice another try. Genuine, caring in healthcare, and taking responsibility - I have to respect that.

Every visit I have had here has been absolutely wonderful. I seldom have to wait beyond the scheduled time for my appointment, and, when the appointment does begin, the staff are courteous, caring, and attentive to what I am physically feeling. The women working in the optical division of the Eye Center are nothing short of wonderful, as well (my particular experience has been with Emily, whom I would credit for ensuring that I do not prematurely develop blindness). I tend to be very critical of doctors (medical jargon doesn't impress me, in the words of Julia Sugarbaker), and I've never had anything but wonderful experiences here. If your insurance covers the Eye Center, I would heartily encourage you to go. The facility is lovely and maintained impeccably, and the staff and doctors are a delight.

My old Eye Doctor back in my hometown only had 1 person working in the office. It always seemed that I was in and out quickly. There are 3 providers that I know of here. I lost count of the number of people working in this business, this just needlessly drives up the cost of care in my opinion. My primary issue is I was careless and let the provider prescribe a contact lens that did not work correctly. I made contact and was told they would order a trial lens and call me back for another fitting That was months ago and I still have not heard back. I'm not going back, and it's a shame because this clinic is almost within walking distance from my home.

I then noticed that there was a remarkable assortment of eyeglass frames on display, and anticipated that I would likely be selecting one of them to replace my damaged frame. Instead, Matt, one of the opticians, was able to re-shape and repair my frame, also fitting a slightly larger screw to secure a bow that I thought might not be repairable. When I offered to pay for the repair, Matt smiled, said he was happy to help, and advised there would be no charge. - I definitely will be returning to Visionworks for any future eyeglass purchases. I found this place by reaching out to my insurance company and this was an in-network provider and very close to my job. Although it was very last minute I called them up to schedule an eye exam and they was able to squeeze me in for the following day in the afternoon. Every other place I tried to check were saying they were booked until next month due to kids going back to school. I came for my appointment and browsed around for frames as I waited. An associate came walked up to me to see if I needed any assistance and she directed me to the styles that I was interested in. The set up on the wall was somewhat confusing for me because the men and women frames were all mixed in together so I had ask periodically if the frames that I chose were for men. After waiting about 15 minutes I was called to the room in the back where there were a whole heap of eye machines. I swear every time I go get an exam there's some new machine. All I was expecting was the air puffer one that always catches me off guard even when they count down to the puff. I rested my chin on one machine which allowed her to look thru the back of my eyes.. I didn't even know that was a thing. She asked me if I wanted to have pictures of my eyes taken which would allow her to see deep into it and would be able to tell if there were any issues going on in there and I agreed to have that done. My eyes needed to be dilated first to have a good picture taken so she put some drops in my eyes and waited about 15 minutes to have them fully dilated. I did the "This one or this one" exam (I don't know what it's called lol) and discovered my vision is getting a bit worse so I needed a stronger prescription. Time to check out, I found glasses that I wanted and I told the lady at the desk I wanted the glare protection on my glasses. I normally get transitions but I decided against it this time. She measured the distance of my pupils with this eye machine. I paid for my glasses and went on with my day, dilated pupils and all.. I was provided some solar eclipse looking eye protectors though. I was told my glasses would be there in 2 weeks and they were there in like 1 week! I picked them up when I got my text message notification and they were perfect. It game with a little bag with the case, eye glass cleaner and I prescription card. I really enjoyed the whole experience here.

Clip-ons were a must for Mom, and the options were disappointing at those other places. Then I remembered Advance Vision Institute. As soon as we walked in, I saw a whole area of clip-ons and knew we had found the right place. The sales lady was amazingly patient and helpful while Mom tried on all the options. Once she had picked a frame, they use a machine to get the exact measurements of your face and frames, so that the frames will fit exactly the way you want. I wish my place in Cincinnati had that! Then there was the "amazing" moment. The sales lady noticed Mom's broken glasses and offered to do a temporary fix for free! Normally this repair costs around $100! A great place to get glasses, and I wish they had a location in Cincinnati!

That was when the customer service went down the drain. A call two days later didn't help. So, three days later, in another call, the manager kept repeating "when something is in backorder, we never know", and she refused to understand my explanation of why this is simply unacceptable. So, when picking them up, I thought I could be more effective in person to make her understand, but to no avail, she was quite aggressive arguing with me. She is intelligent, but either she has no empathy or she is lazy, so hopefully the doctor could be successful in explaining her that "when something is in backorder, you never know" until she does her job, which is to call their supplier and get the date when the frame will be manufactured and available. I had already paid for the glasses, so I had the absolute right to know if I would have to wait for two weeks or for six months. Besides, she told me that they didn't have time to call every customer. Total poor performance.
