Love! My son has been seen by several doctors at the practice and all have been absolutely…read moreincredible. Always explaining things to him in terms he understands and answering any questions he may have. When another son (not a current patient) had an eye emergency, they got him in within 15 minutes of my calling, telling me not to worry about giving information over the phone as they could pull it from my other son. Once again the doctor we saw was incredible and ensured my son's vision was not in jeopardy. Recently I went for my own vision -- affected by a dysautonomic disorder and while many other eye doctors have dismissed me over the years, Dr. Pierce knew exactly what I was dealing with, still made sure it wasn't just my eyes and is working with me to to ensure I find a solution for my uncommon situation. Frankly surprised by the negative comments, however most seem to have the same complaint, billing issues, which frankly seem like issues with people not understanding the own coverage or what is and is not in network. I paid $90 for myself and my son at that joint appointment. That's $45 each. I also had every exam in the book as we were trying to ensure it was not a retinal issue or worse. When I've needed anything the women at the front have gone above and beyond. I needed my son's prescription sent to me to order his glasses as I prefer a style provided by an online provider, and since they were on the phone with other patients, I received a text message asking how they could help -- I had the script emailed to me in less than 5 minutes. Couldn't recommend Colonial Eye Care enough!

(please read updated comments at the end of this review)…read more Friendly staff, plus a kind and respectful healthcare provider. Unfortunately, that's not where the saga ends. Their billing practices are flawed. In April of 2025 I tried this practice for an eye exam. They told me I had insurance coverage, which was a pleasant surprise. They collected my $90, and I was on my way. Months later I got a bill for an additional $210 (a violation of the No Surprises Act). I called the office, and the woman I spoke to told me the bill didn't look right, looked really messed up, and she would do some further research and get back to me promptly. I was very happy with how she handled the call, but I never heard back. I've since called on three separate occasions. On one of the occasions, I was told the practice outsources all their billing and they couldn't help me if they wanted to. I asked for a reasonable timeframe to hear back, and the woman told me 48 hours. That was grossly inaccurate. I'd call a fifth time, but this practice has clearly demonstrated that won't be effective. My time is valuable, and 19 weeks after my initial appointment this mess still hasn't been resolved. Perhaps someone will get back to me after reading this review. UPDATE: promptly after I posted this review, Caitlin from the practice called. She was polite, forthright, and literally used the phrase "We take ownership" for the mistakes that happened. Bottom line: these people are human, they made mistakes, and though they took too long to rectify the problem they ultimately made it right. I'll likely be going back to give the practice another try. Genuine, caring in healthcare, and taking responsibility - I have to respect that.

The minute I put the new glasses on, my eyes felt funny and vision slightly blurred. When I asked for a re-check, it was confirmed that I had been given the wrong prescription and they gave me another one. This time the optician's comment was "This has somebody else's name on it!" I hadn't even noticed that my name was not on the top line! He called the office and they faxed the CORRECT prescription. No one ever reached out to me or offered apologies. The medical staff are fine, but the factory-like atmosphere and indifference to patients has me searching for a new ophthalmologist.

The reason for the poor review goes against the Riverside Hospital where the surgery was performed. During preparation for the surgery, the nurses and aides at the Riverside Hospital push you to get a "little" anesthesia for the surgery to ensure that you're comfortable during the procedure. Now, NO ONE from Cullom & Farah's office talked about anesthesia during the surgery and the need for it, but I thought - hey this is the same stuff you get at a Dentist's office so what's the big deal! Months later, after all the bills were paid by my insurance, I was hit by an additional $1,500 bill by Riverside Hospital! Surely, the staff at Collum and Farah should have been aware of what Riverside Hospital was doing and discussed the need or lack of anesthesia before I had the surgeries!

They weren't quite sure how to deal with my exhuberance but they were helpful and friendly. The physician assistant was very business like and didn't want to have light banter and the doctor didn't once look me in the eye. She was too busy reading notes and looking at her tablet. All that aside, once you get to the fun part, this is a GREAT team to help you with your new.look. Seriously. I would go back often if I could afford lots of glasses!

So I tried for 3 weeks as much as I could. I need to read and use the computer a lot in my job so I couldn't wear them at work. I couldn't see out of them at home either. It turns out there's a lot that you need to be able to see on days off too. After 3 weeks I went back. They said the 2nd exam said the same thing. I told them several times that everything in the test was still blurry even though I can read the words and tell what picture was better, there were no clear options. I told them I wore positive 3.75 strength in my readers again. They increased to positive 2.5. When the glasses came in again, I went to pick them up. Once again I couldn't read out of them. I can read the words but they are still so blurry and they cause bad eye strain, which triggers a migraine. The lady up front then acted like it was my fault for not telling the doctor about the strength of my readers and the blurriness of everything during the exam. I told her I did several times during both exams. They don't listen or believe a word I say. Like, why would I lie? I want to be able to see. It's incredibly frustrating when I can't read and sometimes call people the wrong name because I can't see them clearly with just my readers. She had an attitude and told me somebody would get back to me. Nobody ever did so I have 2 pairs of useless prescription glasses and no exams left since they also only give 1 free exam. I feel like if it's their mistake, I should get as many free exams until they listen and get them right. I was so excited to see and 2 months later I'm still in the same position I was when I started. I'll have to wait for my insurance to cover another exam before I go someplace else. I have been very friendly through it all and I can't believe I received that attitude. It was unnecessary.

I also purchased back-up glasses two years ago, and they are still in good shape. They have a good selection of frames from which to choose. That was when the customer service went down the drain. A call two days later didn't help. So, three days later, in another call, the manager kept repeating "when something is in backorder, we never know", and she refused to understand my explanation of why this is simply unacceptable. Fortunately, my glasses arrived four days later. So, when picking them up, I thought I could be more effective in person to make her understand, but to no avail, she was quite aggressive arguing with me. She is intelligent, but either she has no empathy or she is lazy, so hopefully the doctor could be successful in explaining her that "when something is in backorder, you never know" until she does her job, which is to call their supplier and get the date when the frame will be manufactured and available. I had already paid for the glasses, so I had the absolute right to know if I would have to wait for two weeks or for six months. Besides, she told me that they didn't have time to call every customer. Total poor performance.
