We were so fortunate to have this place recommended to us. It has been absolutely perfect for my…read morealmost-100 year old mother, who had turned aggressive in the larger place where she was living. Eldervilla is just a house, with room for six residents. What my mother has needed is a house to take care of and they have been so receptive to her needs that they take dishes out of the cupboard so she can "wash the dishes," or let her sweep the already spotless floor. She is happy as a clam. They deal with her doctor and her meds, order her diapers, and see that she eats the right things, but mostly with such a small group, the staff can be perfectly attuned to the needs of each resident all the time. I have visited about once a week for the past six months that she has been there and have been impressed with everything every time I go there.

A reliable source indicated that my apartment is as nice as apartments in the University Retirement Community in West Davis. My caregivers are attentive to my needs and respectful. There are usually 3 caregivers on duty during waking hours. The dining room consists of 2 and 4 seat tables with one 6 person table, a private dining area and outdoor seating. You order off of menus and waiters serve your food and beverages. There are many varied activities and weekly excursions for residents to participate in. The most popular activities seem to be the daily exercise class and musical performances. If I could I would give Covell Gardens 4-1/2 stars.

As we reflect upon our 2019 decision to select URC At Davis (URCAD), it was primarily based on…read more"word-of mouth" from residents and family members and friends of URC residents. The phrase that stood out was the quality of the food ("just like a high-end cruise ship"). When we made our URC reservation deposit in 2019, the URC Marketing representative said we could expect annual increases of 3.0% to 3.5% in our monthly occupancy fees. For our first year (2024) at URC we were proud to repeat the earlier positive reviews of URC. Unfortunately, more recently, our "word-of-mouth" for URC dining has become "mixed reviews" and the monthly occupancy fees have increased by 5.75% rather than the expected 3.0% to 3.5%. URCAD seems to be in a solid and strong financial position and enjoys a high occupancy (98% to 99%) rate each month and a long waiting list for new pending residents. The recent fee increases and dining disappointments are inconsistent with the strong URCAD financials, both current and projected. We remain hopeful that fresh resident initiatives will motivate URC and PRS management to limit future fee increases to 3.0% to 3.5% and restore services to previous commendable levels.

There are two evening dining facilities- one is considered 'fine dining'- which means reservations…read morerequired and one is served their meal -the other is cafeteria style dining - one moves through a line of various food items and takes those items back to their table. Both places have a 'dress code' - in particular no shorts for anyone and collard shirts for men - even guests (children are allowed to wear shorts and t-shirts). This is a senior facility so when anyone wears shorts here they are to the knee, not ripped, often pressed and men usually wear a belt. One can go into almost any restaurant in CA wearing a clean t-shirt and clean shorts. But to be told that one cannot dine in the cafeteria where they LIVE -in shorts or a clean plain t-shirt is beyond the pale. Imagine having to change your clothes everyday to go eat in a cafeteria? Imagine having to tell your guests that they must 'dress' for a dinner in a cafeteria? It's disappointing and a bit heavy-handed.

My parents have found a wonderful home at Spanish Bay! With some true memory and cognitive issues…read more(some of which are as much about transfer trauma as old age), Mom & Dad have settled in well at Spanish Bay. The staff understand the elderly and all of their needs. They have cared for them, while making them feel as though they were the part of a larger, extended family. The grounds are lovely, and Dad has the joy of watching nature and taking part in the gardening and watering of the tomato plants. Mom enjoyed the interaction with the other residents, and particularly liked taking part in the art activities~~~something that I had no idea would be such a favorite. Their room is spacious with large windows. They have all the issues that typically plague the elderly---they need help in the bathroom, bathing, transferring. They cannot medicate themselves. Meals must be provided. From a monetary standpoint, it has been a good exchange for the support that they have needed. We had some fluid moments, and I am very pleased that Spanish Bay accommodated their needs at a price point that was fair for all. After being their caregiver for several years, it wasn't easy letting them go. I have to say that Spanish Bay has been as supportive of me and my family as they have been of the folks. Growing old is difficult. You lose the ability to navigate life and the many different decisions that have to be made daily. Spanish Bay is exactly the environment that suited their health and social needs. If you looking for a true home for your elders, this is it!

Upon speaking with previous and current caregivers I learned of all the terrible things that have been done to all residents and my loved one. At this point I feel sorry for my LO for putting her through such a traumatic experience. Since, I have removed my LO and placed in better care. I highly DISCOURAGE this care facility to anyone due to inhuman treatment.

The staff at Astoria Vista II have been extremely kind. The home is very nice and my mother is quite comfortable. Early in her stay she had a stroke and had to go on hospice. We nearly lost her. The staff took wonderful care of her and she recovered and was stronger than when she arrived. My father and I are grateful to Roberta Kanter and the staff at Astoria Vista II for the exceptional care my mother receives. I highly recommend this board and care home to families that are searching. 3 years later ... My mother is back on hospice. Yolo Hospice sent out a wound care specialist because of this difficult stage. The nurse said she is receiving incredible care and really commended the staff on their diligence. I wouldn't wish this end of life suffering on anyone but if you need the help this is a wonderful home.
