Having recently moved to the Gray area, The Lost Sock is the closest Laundry Mat to my home. When I…read morearrived for that first visit, I noticed the pizza place next door was receiving a delivery and the driver blocked several parking places in front of Lost Sock and approximately six more at the far side of the shared lot where he parked his 36' truck. When I finally got a place to park, I brought my laundry inside. I most often use the Laundry Mat for comforters and rugs, loads that require a big washer and dryer. There are several big machines and they were all being used. I ended up having to use the medium sized machines. The washers themselves were smelly. Once I got the machine operating (the machines do not accept debit cards, only coins) I noticed a ring of filthy water at the bottom of the window on the machines. When the loads were finished, I was transferring them to the dryer and my white comforter dragged on the ground. By the time the dryers were finished, the Lost Sock was very busy and there was no where to fold my loads so I decided to skip it and fold at home. On my way out, I saw a nice lady drop some of her laundry so I stopped to help her. She told me to be careful because all of her blankets were covered in dog hair (Most every Laundry Mat I have ever patronized posts big signs that say "Do Not Wash Animal Blankets or Towels") but the Lost Sock did not post those signs (hindsight thought) When I got home, I put my brand new, white comforter on my bed, there were 4 big grease stains on it. The pretty white was now grey and dingy and it smelled of wet dog hair. The Lost Sock charges market prices for substandard quality. The physical condition of the business is dirty, and there was no attendant onsite. Additionally, having to feed pounds of quarters into the machines is an outdated practice which illustrates the owners' attitude about their customers. Before you put your clothing and bedding into The Lost Socks' machines, think twice. You might have to replace your belongings because they couldn't care less about anything but your money. Sad
