While adventuring in Jerome today we decided to stop in a few shops. This location looked pretty interesting and had quite a bit of beautiful items. Very large, clean and organized. Unfortunately service wasn't so great and we felt pretty uncomfortable. The gentleman working seemed to follow our every move from his chair at the counter. Although he did say hello he didn't ask if we needed help just the awkward glares . We left feeling I welcomed and empty handed.

    Don't mind if I do...

From Sedona, we took a trip to the Ghost Town of Jerome. As we walked down Main Street, I decided to stop for trinkets to take home. Laughing Mountain is a gift shop that sells local gifts, books, clothing and pottery made in Arizona. I purchased a couple souvineers for home, family and a book on the history of the town of Jerome written by a local author and published by a company that writes a lot of California Town History paperbacks. I liked checking out the stuff in this store and wanted to take pictures and write about this place, so that if you are ever in Jerome - you can mosey your way over and find something to take home.

Associate not wearing a mask the whole time helping the customer and did not put it on at all the whole time I was in the store.

I had been looking for southwestern style area rug to go under my coffee table and had been to a rug store at the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts shopping area in Sedona that wanted $900-$1175.

If you like things made of natural materials and with an old charm flavor (or even original ones) then stop by at the entrance in Jerome coming from Phoenix. I had discovered this store 20 years ago , then forgot about it and rediscovered it yesterday. The hours are odd because they open and close the museum- they being one man. So this shop is contingent on his availability. I love copper- so I was happy to poke around this store and lap it a few times before I settled on what I wanted. I picked out a bracelet hand etched by an artist of the Hopi tribe, a copper splash artist how I had already admired the artwork in other shops- I picked up a heart shaped piece of copper & a copper electroplated redwood leaf- needle bundle! The electroplated leaves- I wanted all of them! They are real leaves, 3 different kinds, all copper electroplated and gorgeous! But- at $30 a piece, one was what I got. I spent a decent amount in this shop and wanted to spend more. The owner was very knowledgeable and helpful! He also creates copper jewelry and I loved his pieces too!

On this occasion, the lady at the counter accused our son of breaking an item and went on a rant about it. Now accidents happen, I can't say for sure that her claim was true as I didn't see it occur. As parents, we would have gladly paid for the item, but instead she removed it from the storefront and went after our son and his father. Unacceptable on all levels!!! There is always a calm resolve to situations like these, she did not remain composed or in check. How disappointing for such a quaint town, for our visit to be overshadowed by a basement-dwelling troll with absolutely no customer appreciation at all. The Grinch stole Christmas and resides here in Jerome. Shame on this business owner, you really should consider turning this store into an online store, a museum or even bettet yet, do this community a favour and close your doors! Give way to a welcoming business inviting to those who take the time to drive up here. Don't ever shop here, it is not worth the steps down from street level. Pretty sad that we had to remind her to behave like an adult in front of our 14 year-old son. We left Jerome and do not plan on visiting again. 0 out of 5 stars if I could

This place is ridiculously magical. It's like someone captured sunsets, opals, stained glass, and interdimensional portals and said, "Yes, put it in a tube and make it spin." I came in for a quick peek and promptly lost all concept of time. One second it's "I'll just look around," and the next you're in a trance whispering, "OH MY GOD" into a kaleidoscope like it's giving you life advice. The staff are the real MVPs: genuinely fun, friendly, and obsessed (in the best way) with what they do. They LOVE sharing their passion, showing you different designs, explaining how they're made, and basically turning your casual browsing into a full-blown kaleidoscope awakening. I did not know I needed so many kaleidoscopes. Turns out I needed... many. And then they casually mention they offer classes. CLASSES. I am now emotionally invested and fully prepared to fly back to Jerome just to take one, because apparently this is who I am now. 10/10. Go. Bring curiosity. Leave with joy (and potentially an unreasonable number of kaleidoscopes).

First of all, we are visiting Arizona because our 19 year old was diagnosed with multiple brain and spine tumors in late September and this is the only break we had to take as a family before we begin a series of tests and treatment over the course of months. Secondly, my husband and I are the type that like to try to support local shops and when we spend time in them, usually buy at least something in support. When we walked into Cleopatra Hill Gift Shop, our 6 year old found a small children's finger puppet book, sat down on the floor, and asked me to read it while his older brothers and father looked around the shop at other souvenirs. I was grateful to finally not be chasing him around asking him not to touch certain items and began happily reading the overpriced 5 paged toddlers book to him. We turned to the last page and I prepared to buy the book for him a a reward for his behavior until I heard the words "You can't finish the book unless you pay for it first." I turned around to see the owner staring directly at my son from behind the counter. She then looked at me, who was just standing there in shock and dumbfounded, not able to tell if she was joking or serious at this point, and then said in a nasty tone to me "Are you deaf?" In turn I asked her if she was joking. Her response was that she wasn't a library. At this point, I absolutely didn't buy the book from her and will make sure I let everyone I know of our experience in her store. My son began crying and I grabbed his hand and we left. I have never been in such shock.
