I came in for a hat that was sold out and was so bummed about it. I then called the store the next day and spoke to Maricela. Let me just begin by saying she had such great customer service and made it happen. She advised they were sold out, however she took my information down and advised she would reach out when the new shipment arrived. She communicated every step of the way until the hat arrived. Wow!!!! You deserve an award! She made sure I got what I wanted. Her communication and great best customer service, made it such a wonderful experience from start to finish. I paid cash to the cashier - Marisela, but realized when I got home that in taking back the change, I had neglected to pick up the actual piece I bought. As a local we always like to support Carmel by the Sea shops and take guest shopping at Laub's Country Store! Never again the manager today was extremely rude as the entire staff! I was happy to spend over $500.00 today until I was told if I wanted a bag for 25 cents! Yes I understand it's a state regulation but where the the customer serves? Carmel is a great destination for someone like me, great town, lots to do and visiting here is always awesome. I recently decided to get some shirts and stumbled upon Carmel classics and Laub's country store. They were awesome, service was great and Mary did an excellent job in helping me. They have nice champion Carmel shirts which were surprisingly great quality. They didn't have one size I wanted but gladly shipped it when they had it in stock. My wife and I were looking for some nice momentums to bring back to our children from our weekend trip to Carmel. Not wanting to be gouged, we went from store looking for for that right item. We walked into Laub's Country Store and the immense selection of shirts was impressive enough for us to start browsing. We immediately found a great sweater for my daughter that was just perfectly "her". The price was reasonable so we kept looking for the rest of the family. Between the amazing selection and excellent staff and their great assistance, we ended up finding something for everyone that was perfect in more than one way. Pricing wasn't outrageous either and for a total of five people, we got out under $130! We'd walked by this store countless times over the years when I finally popped in to check out a Big Sur t-shirt for my husband who will only wear 100% cotton t-shirts. Found one for him and scored a sale on a Carmel t-shirt for myself which is now one of my 2 favorite t-shirts. This has now become a regular stop for us whenever we go to Carmel. My daughter now has a matching Carmel t-shirt as well. Can't beat the selection of cotton tees! Living in the Bay area we love wearing tees with some of our favorite Northern California landmarks. Good place to pick up t-shirts and sweatshirts for the family back home. The prices are a bit steep but the fabric isn't that thin crappy cotton stuff some stores provide - it is nice, thicker cotton. They have some really cute designs in the store and a good selection. I'm giving one star based on service and atmosphere not on the actual merchandise. Honestly, how many twenty-something girls do they need working during a shift? I felt like I walked into a girls day hang out sesh. It was really awkward. Not one of them greeted me or anyone else who entered the store, they were too busy laughing and having loud conversations with each other to even be bothered with any of the customers. Glad they're having a great time at work but if you don't make customers feel welcome they won't buy things and if they don't buy things you won't have a job. Best customer service! I was visiting Carmel from Northern California and purchased a t-shirt for my husband. When I go home, he discovered a small tear in the collar. I contacted the store via email through their website and literally - within one minute - received a response. They were so sorry for the problem and said they'd send another out to me right away and there was no need to send the damaged shirt back to the store. They asked for a picture of the shirt, which was one of their most popular, and what size I needed, A day later, I received the new t-shirt in the mail! Maybe we are too picky, or maybe they've cheaped out since 3 years ago, but my friend and I were not impressed with the flimsy fabric we found at this store. She really wanted to get a shirt for her younger sister, but although some items looked charming enough, there was nothing substantial there especially at the asking price. There were some very well made sweaters and hooded shirts that were very tempting as I couldn't actually buy all the items that piqued my interest.
