Located in the back of a cute alley way in Carmel the Thomas Kincaid art gallery was so delightful! I own a drawing and a puzzle from their collection and to see so much more of it was amazing. They had full size paintings, puzzles and calendars. I didn't know he had passed but hearing how he trained ones to carry on his signature style was nice to hear. Kai was very kind and gave us some nice suggestions on where to eat since we were visiting the area and even let us have a couple of postcards of art work! read more

Talk about a happy, unexpected turn of events! One of my relatives is a pretty big fan of Thomas Kinkade, so I've long known there was a gallery featuring his artwork here in Carmel, though not its exact location. However, thanks to the powers of The Googles, I figured we could just look it up once we got into town so that we could pick up a souvenir. Little did I know, though, is that all I really needed were my superior hunting skills! Out of all of the available parking spaces along and around Ocean Ave, the one spot I ended up pulling into just happened to be right in front of a little doorway with a sign hanging above it that read, "Thomas Kinkade Studio in the Garden". Yup, that's right - like so many other men, I'm taking credit for something that was actually a byproduct of sheer, unadulterated blind luck (just kidding, please don't cancel me!). As you walking down through the small doorway squeezed between two buildings, it almost feels like you are being transported to an entirely different place. In fact, when you reach the end of the pathway, it opens up onto a cute little garden with a small cottage that looks as though it was ripped out of the setting of one of Thomas Kinkade's paintings. Inside the cottage/studio, even though it's surprisingly small, nearly every nook and cranny of this place is filled with his past works and pieces that were created for various collaborations, including Disney, Harty Potter, and even Star Wars. Whether you're looking for a larger piece or something smaller, there's a good mix of options to choose from. While we considered a few of the smaller sized prints, we ended up getting a coffee table type of book that featured a series of pictures from his entire collection of works. Even if you aren't looking to pick up anything, though, coming here and checking out the garden and gallery is worth it during your time in Carmel! read more

This art gallery, the first Thomas Kinkade ever opened to the public (in 1992), is kinda hidden within the charming shops of downtown Carmel, but once you find the beautiful and mysterious tunnel leading to the garden and store, decorated with vines and string lights, you'll feel like you're walking into a Thomas Kinkade painting, before you even see the actual paintings inside. The garden alone is adorable with, of course, a cute little bunny sculpture I have to mention. Inside the shop, lovely framed artworks of the painter of light adorn the walls, along with small stacks of calendars, puzzles, journals, and other gifts. Spent my time in the small space admiring all of the art pieces, and picked up a disney studios coloring book which even included colored pages of TK artworks as well. The staff seemed a bit distressed and busy moving stuff on a Saturday evening before closing time, especially with a master highlighter event for collectors having taken place earlier this day. But I liked the freedom of exploring the store on my own, and had no problems making my purchase. If you're a fan of Thomas Kinkade or Disney (or both, like me), this shop and gallery is worth checking out, and is more alluring than the location at Cannery Row in Monterey. read more

This location is like out of a fairyland dream! Such a beautiful shop tucked into a gorgeous garden. Inside so many lovely art pieces to look at. I especially loved the Disney pieces. We purchased a Beauty and the Beast canvas print for my daughter (suprised that it was very affordable). If you are a Disney x Thomas Kinkade fan, this is a great place to visit when in Carmel. There are limited edition pieces, as well as general prints you can pick up. It's a tiny spot, but jam packed with pieces to browse. Customer service has always been friendly whenever I've had questions, otherwise I've always loved browsing on my own. I will come back for one of the pieces in the future, especially since they seemed to have added Harry Potter into the mix! read more

We always love stopping in this studio to view the beautiful work of Thomas Kinkade. We've purchased many Kinkade pieces over the years. On this visit, we had a lot of questions and Marys was so knowledgeable, helpful and patient. She showed us different prints as we were trying to decide what we wanted to purchase. My husband and I discovered this amazing little gem of a studio in 2015 when we honeymooned in Carmel. We purchased the painting of Carmel while on our honeymoon. We love our Kinkade paintings! While in town this week we of coarse went back to revisit this tiny little hide away and met Carolyn. She was running the store the day were visited. She gave us undoubtedly the most personal shopping experience ever and was not pushy. She was extremely knowledgeable, kind, happy and helpful this experience you will never get online when shopping for something so special. We purchased 2 more paintings I have been looking at for quite some time. We are so fortunate both were in stock along with frames I wanted. She personally changed out the frames and put the name tags on them all while visiting and making us feel right at home I love this store and she makes it more magical than ever! 1 star for service. 5 stars for the location and ambiance of this studio. While walking down the streets of Carmel by the Sea, I randomly noticed a GORGEOUS ally way entrance that had light rays shining down the path. This is the secret entrance to Thomas Kinkade's studio - a painter that I have looked up to since childhood. Upon entering into the cabin where a lot of his original art work is held, I found myself captured by his work. The space itself is small and is adjacent to an irrelevant jewelry store. The compact size of this cabin/gallery makes the location of the art more intimate. You're able to buy some of his art from the gallery (for a high price, of course.) There were also prints and paintings of some of the work that he had previously done with Disney. Although I tried to make conversation with the attendant, she was rather rude and didn't tell me anything about his art. Minus one star due to the rudeness. Even if you don't know Thomas Kinkade, stop by this small gallery of some of his work to learn about him. His style is a huge influence on landscape painters, Christmas work, and Disney work. TERRIBLE customer service!!! The woman that runs the shop is RUDE and non inviting. I used to love visiting this shop and she made my husband and I very upset. Rudely commenting on our dogs and giving unnecessary advice and clearly did not want us there. She literally said my dog needed therapy. Before entering, we asked if dogs were allowed in the shop and had them on a very short lease and did not distrub any of the paintings. What an awful expereince. WE WILL NEVER RETURN unless someone else is helping us. read more

Stumbled across this gallery while shopping in Carmel-By-The-Sea. This gallery is somewhat hidden. There's a small sign on the street that says Secret Garden and you follow a short pathway that leads to a quaint garden and art gallery. It's a cute idea but unless you know about the gallery, you may miss it. The staff was kind but didn't talk much about the pieces or offer any assistance. Beautiful art studio but not friendly. I walked in and said good morning to the women running the studio and she gave me a dirty look. I overheard her commenting negatively under her breath (loudly enough I could hear, obviously) about us visiting. Not sure what rule we were disobeying by walking in but certainly was not clear why we were not acceptable. Ruined the entire visit. read more

This Thomas Kinkade gallery is located through a small pathway behind a souvenir shop off ocean ave. You'll walk through a small corridor with lots of plants and through small garden. The gallery itself is REALLY small (maybe 300 sq ft...if that). Its so small you can literally see everything in about 2 minutes. Its a great pit stop to make and enjoy some art if you like Kinkade's work. read more

All I can really say is that this art studio is a hidden gem in the wonderfully charming city that is Carmel by the Sea. In order to enter this art gallery, one must walk through a narrow garden passageway to find a little cottage hidden away in its own peaceful spot away from the hustle and bustle of the streets and tourist sights. Inside the small cottage is a number of beautiful scenic paintings and works by Thomas Kinkade. The attendant here is very friendly and willing to share stories about the artist's life and history. If you are ever in the area, set apart a couple moments to enjoy some of the loving works of art displayed here and maybe even go home with one of your own! read more

I am actually real upset! This was one place I looked forward to seeing and purchasing something for my mom for Christmas. My father use to buy my mom one piece of art each Christmas from Thomas work and after his passing to cancer I wanted to continue this special moment for my mom. I would give it zero stars however 1 star only for the beautiful outside view was amazing. I received no help or even acknowledgement from the lady working there today 11/14/21. She was too busy unwrapping what was boxed up. Couldn't even see what was inside to purchase. My fiancé and I stood there right in her view for at least 10 minutes staring right at her to get help and nothing! There was no one else there that this worker was helping because we were the only ones there and she couldn't even acknowledge that. I have no idea if this is just how the people who work in the Carmel city are and treat the younger customers, but I won't be back! Just horrible service! Sadly, I will be going to another art gallery for my moms big holiday purchase. read more

i stumbled across this place on accident, I was wandering around with two of my gfs when we saw this beautiful garden path and we follow through with the stone walkway into this secret garden that leads us into a small thomas kinkade gallery. Its as if one of his pictures has came to life, in there I was greeted by an old man named Jack Moon, if you are here, you must have a conversation with him! this was 3 years ago and I still remember his name. He tells us stories of each painting and how kinkade would stop in and do shows sometimes and gave us a schedule on when to see the actual kinkade. He talked about how people were back then, how he loves carmel and how he has been married for over 60 years and that his wife also runs another thomas kinkade gallery around this area.
