On the patio

Collard Green Pupusas. My mind is blown. Who knew that this combination would work. I thought it was gimmicky and then I tried it and was immediately hooked. This is not only an item that I will order again but one that I will talk about every chance I get. The other Pupusas we had were good, with the chicken being the other standout. The chorizo and carnitas were good, don't get me wrong. They just didn't stand out like the collard greens and chicken ones. Outdoor patio is the place to be. The people watching and breeze were just delightful. So why not 5 stars? The service was a bit slow for my liking. Every table outside had to go in to ask for something as the servers didn't make it outside enough.

Cute little place that feels like a someone's home. Very friendly waitstaff, bustling kitchen creating authentic dishes that feel homemade. The refried beans are authentic El Salvador with that nice reddish hint and delicious flavor. I had the Sopa de Gallina, which was huge chunks of chicken and vegetables in a savory broth. Topped, with onions, fresh jalapeños, and cilantro. Nice guacamole. Really interesting selection of fillings for the pupusas, which are also lovely. They do have alcohol for sale as well

Chicken soup of the day

A slight jaunt off the beaten path in Staunton lies this Latin American / Soul food fusion restaurant. Architecture is a bit funky, but they make good food and everyone in our group enjoyed their dishes. The beef stew and chicken soup were both rocking good and extremely flavorful (both were soups of the day). Folks dug the plantains. My Mexican street tacos were good (not so much the chorizo, but the chicken and Al pastor were great). The only knock on Latin Soul was the lack of a bartender on our visit, so most of the drinks menu was unavailable. I'd still happily eat there again!

So good! The food here was so good. I got the Mexican street tacos (chicken, steak and chorizo) they came with a spicy habanero sauce that was actually really spicy! The rice and beans were also good. My husband got the chicken taquito dish and it was so good and the taquitos were so crunchy. We also got chips and guacamole which was pretty good but did have big chunks of tomato. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I will be back!

I'd read so many rave reviews about Latin Soul and seen so many mouthwatering pictures that it felt like a long time coming before finally trying it for myself. It came as no surprise that Latin Soul lived up to its strong reputation. Everything down to the plantain chips was delectable and seasoned to perfection. The green sauce was amazing and delicious on everything. The portions were slightly on the smaller side and more rice would've been good but overall, it felt like a healthy amount of food. Service was quick (though we did come in at an off-time) and very friendly! Can't wait to try more from here!

Chili Cheese Fries

Food was mediocre at best. The meat on the street tacos was heavily salted and overcooked, with any other flavors just salted away. The appetizer of chili cheese fries was just grease soggy and gross. The service was poor, with the waitress barely interacting with us. For the first time ever, I actually wished there had been a kiosk to order from, as it would have been more personable. Not much of an atmosphere, other than being hot. In the middle of July, ceiling fans aren't cutting it, especially when considering the menu prices. This was a 2 for 1 experience, the first and last.

Ceviche! Cool, refreshing. Excellent summer lunch. More than enough for one person. Would recommend that you share.

After eating one of my fish tacos, he admitted that if we are ever able to return, he would be willing to order the fish tacos they were so fantastic. Didn't get an opportunity to see the indoor section of the restaurant. The server was very friendly, but they were very busy and it did affect speed of service. In terms of beverages, I ordered horchata because I always order horchata. I have yet to meet a horchata I didn't like, and this was no exception. Sweet and delicious. I ordered birria tacos and a loroco pupusa. The birria was tasty and savory, as to be expected. Like most people, I dip my tacos in the broth because it's delicious. The loroco pupusa was really cheesy, which is a plus for me. All in all, this was a great place and I look forward to going back to try other items on their menu.

Their menu is great, such a nice assortment of soooo many things I absolutely LOVE, but our server told me how amazing the taco assortment and the smash burger was that we got one of each, with me getting the smash burger. Our food came out rather quickly and was amazing, fresh, tasty, and PERFECTLY PREPARED!!! My smash burger was excellent! Exactly what a smash burger should be. I asked for jalapeños to be added to it and they added fresh sliced jalapeños which nicely enhanced the flavor. I typically don't eat the fries that come as a side dish, but these were so darn amazing that I ate them all! They were perfectly double-fried for crispness, yet were fresh, hot, perfectly salted, and sooo tasty! Our experience, the food, the quality, and the service was very nice. I will definitely return!

Our daughter got the cookies and cream that was packed with full-sized oreos inside, while my son got the classic cherry flavor. The restaurant is decorated for the holidays and we loved getting our photo in front of their Christmas tree. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. This is a definite must-stop spot in Madison.

(Many people do not eat pork, the only RW alternative to steak.) The butternut squash soup was like puréed baby food: not like soup. The server was very pleasant. The ambiance is quite plain: a little decorative effort would be worthwhile as the food is quite good. The atmosphere should be more special to be in-line with prices & quality. I would go back!

We weren't sure how big they were but when they arrived we realized they're the size of a small taco. The breading was good but the meat didn't have much flavor without the sauce which was really good. We then ordered the chicken and avocado arepa. It was the size of my palm and filled with what I'd describe as chicken salad mixed with avocado. It was ok but not my favorite. I'm a small eater so for me, I'd need two empanadas as a meal but my husband would definitely need 4 and he's an average eater. At $6 for each little empanada (comes without sides or a drink) and $12 for each arepa (comes without sides or a drink), the price just doesn't seem worth it. The service was good and if the price matched the servings we would try again but not at the current price.

After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Inka Grill Peruvian Cuisine in Roanoke, Virginia, is the perfect example. I've been eating at this restaurant since they were in another location and then through Door Dash delivery, as a matter of fact the main photograph on their Yelp website is a close-up of their Lomo Saltado I took from the container delivered through Door Dash. So today I decided to go visit for the first time their Cave Spring location on Brambleton Ave in Roanoke, Virginia. Located inside a small, clean building, but nothing fancy, the success of this restaurant has been the fresh ingredients they use to make their wonderful recipes. My two favorite dishes are the Lomo Saltado and their Bistec a lo Pobre. And the main reason why I like them is the top quality meat they use. It is so tender and tasty and at reasonable prices, that can compete with many of the most expensive restaurants in the area, and come on top. When I arrived at the restaurant there was a group of three Hispanic ladies having dinner there. Later an American older couple with a college age daughter also came in and sat at the table text to mine. They all seemed to have something in common: steady customers very familiar with the menu and their favorite items. My server Lizbeth greeted and welcomed me to the restaurant, took me to my table, and handed me the menu. Not too extensive but each of the few items were much to be desired. To drink I had a glass of Chicha Morada, a very popular non-alcoholic drink from Peru. As an appetizer I had a House Salad. For my main entrée I had a Bistec a lo Pobre cooked medium rare. It is rice and beans together forming a roll, a tender thick steak, fried ripe plantains, a fried egg, and a criolla sauce. Everything was so tasty and delicious. And for dessert I had the Tres Leche. It is said that a picture is work a thousand words. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review and see for yourself, the amazing food. I highly recommend this restaurant to all. Once you try their amazingly delicious food, you will want to come back for more.

It's a one-block kind of town, not the place you'd think to go for Central American cuisine. The building is on the older side, but they've done a nice job with it and it has some charm. The menu includes pupusas and various other Latin American cuisine, notably possessing a vegetarian section. Notably, they have a time set aside on Sunday afternoon (which is often when I'm eating at restaurants) where they are apparently in pupusa prep mode and say that these delicacies may not be available. However, I dropped in just after 5 and they told me they were good to go. The classic options they offer were well rendered here. A queso loroco, which the menu explains in detail, offered large flower buds and a strong flavor contrast. The accompanying sides of pickled cabbage and sauce made for a typically dynamic flavor experience. And the great thing about ordering pupusas is that you can really get the size of meal you want. Three makes a good meal, but you could just get a snack, or add an appetizer. The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.
