My two sisters and I (and our significant others) came to celebrate a milestone birthday and were beyond impressed with this place. The ambiance is fantastic! The courtyard is beautiful as well as the patio in the back. The decorating that Kitty has done throughout the inside of the house is really beautiful. And as David says, "We want to concentrate on two things: The bed, and the breakfast." And that is exactly what they have done here. Each evening, David will come to offer your breakfast choices for the following morning. And it's not just bacon and eggs people... these are GOURMET offerings all made fresh on site using fresh ingredients. We had a choice of a peach cobbler oatmeal that had peaches from the tree in the backyard even and it was delicious! There was also one addition that just made my stay even more superb... a little dog named "Jack" and he is the most precious (smiling) doggie that I have ever seen! So stinkin' CUTE! Anyway... if you are ever in the area (checking out Frank Lloyd Wright's work) you should definitely give this place a shot. They are phenomenal! Thank you David and Kitty! They picked us up in town and dropped us back at the trial. Made it easy. And we Really enjoyed talking with them. Had a great time meeting and petting all the animals. The cats were super friendly. Comfortable beds. And breakfast was great. Plenty of food to fuel our ride. It was a relaxing night. I highly recommend it.

Having raised animals for decades we really enjoyed the numerous variety and species that made the backdrop for their place. Located up in the hills behind ''downtown' Confluence it was a nice change from the standard places we were stopping as it had an awesome 'country appeal' to it. We were invited for a crab leg dinner with them that Kim was preparing but had plans out in town already. The breakfast however I can report was first rate and powered our ride up over the continental divide the following morning. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to stay & explore. We'll be stopping again on next years trip.

This is located in the quiet, peaceful little town of Confluence. It's very close to amazing biking and hiking trails and kayaking, fishing, and rafting. The house we stayed in (their are several options) had 3 bedrooms with baths. The common rooms are spacious and gorgeously appointed. The decor is very tasteful Arts and Crafts period. The owner, Robin, is a potter, and you can see her pottery throughout and buy it too. The huge kitchen and dining room are available for your use. A full breakfast is provided. There are TVs in each room and the lounge area. It is IMMACULATE. All COVID precautions in place and we felt very safe. It is dog friendly which made a big difference to us. The charge is $20 per night. Our dog loved it Robin and Dan are lovely hosts and did everything to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. Super nice people. There's not a whole lot to do if you're not into nature here. Eating establishments limited although we did have a good meal at Rivers Edge restaurant. The hiking is excellent.

I can't speak for how the dynamic would feel for those just seeking a single room (although this is, I suspect, most of their business), but it was perfect for our needs. It's an older building, recently and seamlessly expanded to accommodate a healthy crowd. It's charming without being cluttered with country knick-knacks. The proprietors are helpful while respecting your privacy. It's comfortable and clean. The wireless internet and satellite television are nice (since cell service is pretty much nil here). And the house is right on the river (as is pretty much everything else in town). Confluence is obviously in the middle of nowhere, but it's a beautiful nowhere. It's in the heart of the Laurel Highlands, a stone's throw from the Yough River, a short walk to decent eating and the Allegheny Passage bike trail, and a short drive from Fallingwater, river rafting, etc. I'll close with an anecdote about small town hospitality. My brother's kids left behind a few items in a downstairs closet. They live more than an hour away in Pittsburgh, so retrieving their toys would have been no easy task. But he called the Parker House, and they knew of someone who was going to be traveling to Pittsburgh the following weekend. The toys were carried along and dropped off. How awesome is that?

The Negatives - It shouldn't be called a Bed and Breakfast as there is no breakfast provided, something we didn't know until we arrived. We never met the owners which is a little unusual for a BnB. Also, there is nowhere to eat in this town and we strongly feel the owner should let you know the restrictions before you book. There are two restaurants in town, both which have extremely limited hours after Labor Day so neither were open. That leaves one gas station to get your meal from, and apart from the obvious downside of eating at a gas station it also closes at 7:00 so you're out of luck completely after that. Had we known we'd have no dinner options AND no breakfast we would have ridden the extra 10 miles to Ohiopyle and had a much much better time.

Looking around for some interesting and fun options we stumbled upon this B&B and decided to call to see if there were any openings. We were in luck! We quickly gave them some information and made our way down there. Upon our entry we were greeted warmly by Liberty the proprietor. She was wonderful and made check in super easy. I made myself some tea, helped myself to some gingersnap cookies, and got settled in for the night. The room was spacious and comfortable. The shower had a never ending (or so it seemed) supply of hot water and there was more than enough towels. I quickly felt at easy in the room and knew I would be getting a good nights rest. Breakfast, Liberty informed us, was held at two times, 7:30 and 9am. We picked to have ours early, which I was against, but it turned out wonderful. We got to eat a nice early breakfast and then went back to bed! Check out was at 11 so we got a few more hours of relaxing in before we hit the hiking trails. Yes, a late start, but the bed was too comfortable to leave! Breakfast was delicious. Scrambled eggs, french toast, sausage, and a fruit cup. They had orange juice, coffee, and tea. What a treat! The food was perfect. I could not ask for a better breakfast. This place was perfect. I would stay here again in a second. It was also so close to the attractions of Ohiopyle that it would be stupid not to suggest everyone to stay here!

Parking is easy in and easy out, I recommend in heavy winter and tough seasons to contact the host to make sure all roadways are safe if you don't have 4 wheel drive. Alpine Retreat. A home more comfortable than home. It is warm and cozy and inviting. The two fireplaces are fully stocked with wood, the fridge is stocked with all necessities and extra beverages and food (in case you lack preparation... such as I). Also everything is labeled so you don't have to search to find anything in the kitchen or throughout the house. There is firewood well stocked, with an outdoor firepit for cooking and relaxing. Underneath an outdoor deck that can host a large group, with a grill and bar, sits a six-person jacuzzi with bluetooth connection. There is ample land to enjoy lawn games and a good game of catch. Lastly, there is a basement cove with a bar that would make for a good night cap after the hot tub cover goes back on. Our Experience. Our host picked us up some craft Sam Adams beer and made us dinner. I don't want to promise that this exception is made for all the guests, but I have never been better received by a host in any hotel or inn I have ever stayed. We had a massage therapist come for a traveling massage from Body in Balance Healing Center. $100 for an hour (excluding gratuity) was so much cheaper and personalized than the overpriced spa at Seven Springs. I slept like a rock, but I did bike (not very well) quite a distance before my stay. The sheets were fresh and clean and everything was spotless in the house. We were encouraged to eat the food, use the washer/dryer and put our feet up... which we did so well. Overall. Buy the ticket, take the ride. You won't have a better host, I would lay money on that.
