I've had a history of sciatica and it's been gone for a while. About a month ago I hurt my back again lifting my son and it was taking a long time to recover. I made an appointment with a Physical Therapist (haven't seen them yet) as well as getting massages. My friend suggested I try a chiropractor and I found Chiro Wellness through my insurance. I haven't been to a chiropractor since pre-pandemic so it's been a while. I spoke with the friendly office manager, Vanessa, and she was able to schedule me in for a same day appointment. I saw a sub doctor, Dr. Dave, and he was very nice and experienced. He was able to adjust me and relieve my pain. I went again a few days later for another session with him and I swear my pain is 95% better! I should've gone in sooner to relieve my pain and suffering! I was so impressed with my quick recovery that I scheduled another maintenance session the following month. I even brought my son in for an adjustment for his tech neck that was causing him discomfort. He saw Dr. Lateef and he was also very kind and thorough. I am writing this review because I was a patient at this office in West Covina since Dr Velez operated it. As of about a month ago, I tried to make an appointment again, and I usually get a response from Vanessa who has been there the whole time since Velez ran the business. She is super helpfull always, not sure what is going on. But I did received the following response about a week or 2 later, and not on the same chain that I emailed. " Hello Maria, this is Eric from Chiro Wellness Dr Lateef Office, due to our office software we will need our clients to use a Gmail to continue receiving email notifications." I have never in my life gone to a dr and have them tell me I need to make another email account in order to receive emails. This sounds sketchy. I responded with the following, " Oh! I don't understand why. I don't want to create a gmail account just for chiropractor services. I've never had any issues with my email that I've had for almost 30 years. Please have Vanessa call me." And never received a response. It saddens me that I've been going to this office for service since 2009. Lateef seems to be everyone's friend when you meet him, but tends to derail from stuff and many times speaks so inappropriate, racial slurs, degrade women. And if you continue the conversations he keeps going in the wrong direction. I always went there because of Vanessa and the good service from Dr Velez in the past. Dr. Velez has been my chiropractor for the last three years. I'm not sure where my back problems began, but I just started thinking of what my life was like before I started seeing a chiropractor and was like Dr. Helmer is a lifesaver!! I was constantly complaining of back pain, taking 800mg of ibuprofen daily, I had horrible posture. The first time I went to Dr. Helmer, he was very friendly and very welcoming. I felt really comfortable with him and trust him with my life...literally, adjustments call for cracking neck bones! As I've continued to go to his chiropractic practice, he always remembers what's going on in my life and has excellent bedside manner. It's been great getting to know him, too. He was an M.D. in Bolivia but wanted more people to heal naturally rather than on chemicals found in prescription drugs. He's really passionate about chiropractor care and it transfers to how he treats his patients. I wouldn't go anywhere else. He isn't interested in making a buck off of his patients - he's incredibly humble and hardworking. He's interested in healing.
