BAD POINTS: Yes, maybe too quiet. Youre lucky to find one or two people on that beach in September. Can be tricky for elderly or encumbered people (surf board, chair and cooler!) to navigate the very steep trail down to it on flip-flops (satellite view doesnt do steepness any justice!), or otherwise a long trek from other beaches. Not good surfing waves (small, and walled off.) No water, shelter, lighting/electric or porta-potties there (or within 1/2 mile!) when I last visited in 2000. I believe you must bring your own nets for the Volleyball courts offseason, and the courts are often incredibly "booked-up" in the Summer.
GOOD POINTS: Have caught a lot of Perch off this beach shorefishing. A very cool reef called Seal Rock is a relatively short 1/2-mile swim out (though long board, paddle board or kayak is preferred) and is best-accessible during low-tide. Lost Winds has been a decades-old traditional hotspot for night-time illegal beach parties because theyre seldom reported by faraway-residents and even then the cops have a lot of trouble getting to that location. Thus, when they happen, they draw massive crowds of youth! Also would be a good location for a small wedding and reception of abled-bodied adults (but no high-heels!) since quaint little Leslie Park on the bluffs nearby-above (for a Ceremony) overlooks the beach and the remoteness below (for Reception) would discourage wedding-crashers.
(Someone please post an overview photo taken from the bluffs looking down at the trail leading to the beach, including Seal Rock. Thanks) read more
