Gorgeous, peaceful beach. Easy access to beach, plenty of parking. Perfect for a nice walk.

We visited the northern beach area just south of the campground. There was ample parking (pay by app) but we used the pedestrian bridge across the train tracks to cross from the hotels. The beach is a very thin strip that alternates between sand and rocks. It is a great beach for walking! If you want sand to lay out your towel there is plenty of room, if you want picnic tables There were lots of dogs. The beach is VERY clean!

I love the fact that it's not terribly crowded. Entrance to Parking lot is tricky to find. When parking on PCH you can walk up, over and down a bridge that has a 3-flight stairway to walk over the train tracks. It's a favorite for early morning and evening walks through the parking lot.

Always have been my family's top beaches that we go! It's much quieter and less crowded than Dana Point and San Clemente. Restaurants and time share hotels on the side, which makes staying/eating easy. We were always able to find parking too

This isn't your typical beach with surfer buffs, squealing happy children, and huge family picnics. Capistrano Beach greets you with more subtleness, inviting you to relax with lullaby waves. It sits below a residential neighborhood along PCH, parallel to railroad tracks. There are basketball courts and a few picnic tables. Parking is $1 per hour. Restrooms are available. The sandy part of the beach itself is clean; only washed up rocks, seaweed, and birds who share the scenery. Afar in the ocean you can spot sail boats and a peninsula. This spot makes for perfect photo shots with an excellent HD camera. And if the sky is clear with a bright sun, consider yourself a spoiled lucky brat. It would be good idea to keep one of those woven mats and/or small blanket throws in your trunk in case you decide a beach nap is affordable in your busy life. I recommend making it affordable ;-)

The parking area appears to be defunct. We parked on the street. The beach itself was nice and had lots of interesting rocks. It was not crowded, though it was a cool and overcast day. I'll return.

I could go on for days about how great this beach is but I have to admit my review is a little biased. My aunt and uncle own a house on Beach Road and I've spent most of my summers there..on the private beach. :) But I have made the long walk down to the public beach many times. The public beach is really nice, sometimes there is trash here and there but for the most part it is very clean. There is a basketball court along with a couple volleyball courts which are always full of people. There are many restaurants and other services nearby. And access to freeways are also very close. One downside to this beach is it can be very rocky at times. This makes it difficult to do any skim boarding, and boogie boarding and surfing can be dangerous. The public beach opens daily at 6:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM. It really is a beautiful family friendly beach. There are also really clean bathrooms and there is always plenty of parking. With this beach being nestled between two cute little beach towns one day of exploring is not enough. Rent a house on Beach Road grab a beer and walk down the beach.

High tide or storm must have hit the parking lot.

Beautiful beach, sand & sunsets. However, I gave it 4 stars because the Park is very damaged (probably from storm surge). The parking lot, bathrooms & basketball ball courts are closed. The sidewalks & roads are very damaged & covered in large beach rocks. Parking lot is closed to cars so you have to park on street. The upside is the park has easy access to the sand & the beach is not crowded at all.

Kind of lame. Not much room on the beach. Not my first choice. Kind of rocky as apposed to sand which I prefer.

Ask the Community - Capistrano Beach Park

Are the fire pits open now? Are there enough fire pits to go around, I've never been to this beach..? Fire pits have been taken out of LA County beaches according to the website?

Is fishing allowed on the beach?

    Yep
