5 for views, 2 for challenge! The Dana Point Too Trail is near the Del Prado Lantern District in Dana Point. It is Cliffside behind a number of very nice homes and condos. This is a beautifully kept up and manicured trail with safety rails and a variety of places for photos such as a wooden bridge and some historic ivy covered arches. The view of Dana Point Harbor is breathtaking. The trail is very short with some serious stairs, so for distance you're not getting much challenge but for stairs you get a little. Overall, it is a beautiful find in an area where it's nice to be able to take a little walk before or after grabbing a drink and a bite to eat! I just wouldn't put on my hiking sneakers and sunblock to make a day of it. read more

If you are looking for an easy scenic walk, then this is a great spot. There is plenty of side street parking nearby (free btw) which makes access really convenient. The trail itself is mostly paved, so it is an easy walk for almost anyone. The view at the top is amazing and definitely worth the short stroll. There are only a few steps along the way, so it feels very manageable while still giving you that beautiful coastal overlook experience. Keep in mind if you have little ones, the stroller won't make it unless you don't mind lugging that around your shoulders. Perfect for a quick walk, photos, or just enjoying the scenery. read more

This trail along the coast of Dana point harbor is a well paved short easy walk for any level of fitness. The walk includes some stairs but easily doable for kids, family, & pets. The views are absolutely stunning & it never gets old every time I stop by. If you wanted to, you could even add on more steps/miles by heading to other trails along Dana point which is a must. There are plenty of Parking spots in the residential area & good eatery's too. read more

This is a cliffside trail. To the left, you can see luxurious mansions, to the right, you can enjoy the harbor view, and in the middle, there are European-style arches. The Hide Drogher statue, created by F. Benedict Coleman in 1990, depicts a 19th-century sailor tossing cowhides from the cliffs. This life-sized bronze sculpture stands as a tribute to the early trade practices in Dana Point, where sailors would throw hides down to ships waiting in the harbor below. A very beautiful and short walk to see panoramic views of Dana Point. Parking is easy in the neighborhood, just watch out for any street sweeping signs to ensure you don't get a ticket. It is a very short walk, probably done in 10-15 minutes. Don't expect to get your workout in. It's the perfect spot to walk with your pup and enjoy your coffee. This is also a quick walk away from Heritage Park. Another 20 min walk to see the waterfall below. The waterfall is seasonal. When we went, there was sadly no water. This spot is also about a 10 min walk from coffee, restaurants, and drinks. read more

Lovely lovely top bluff trail! In the spring it is full of lovely coastal plants. Even when it's dryer the fliers are still alive and different species blossom at different times of the year. This hidden gem will blow your mind away. The directions given are correct. Just be aware you'll ended up in a private neighborhood. Just park in the street and you'll see people coming in and going out from a small path righ in the corner of the street. There's no parking limit in the street. Once you go through the path, you'll find one of the best view in Dana Point, very pretty. Do not expect to get your 30 minutes workout in here. It's a peaceful walk up and down few stairs. Most people are wearing their mask. Be courteous and do the same. Dogs are welcome but pick up their mess. No bathrooms available. Enjoy the view! read more

Not a trail, but a nice cliff-side engineered walkway. The views of Dana Harbor are amazing and make this a quick must-see when visiting the area. There are steps along this walk but those with mobility issues can still catch the great view from the top of the trail area. Parking is streetside ( which there was plenty of availability even on a Saturday afternoon). Tip - RJ's Cafe is a good place for brunch. read more

Another good place to walk about to enjoy nature and fresh air during this pandemic. The panoramic view of the harbor is just stunning. We actually visited the Bluff Hiking trail and had a good time walking around. It was not really a hike but more of a cliff walk for the enjoyment of the public. Although short, the view was breathtaking. We saw a lot of people taking graduation photos there. With the harbor background, it's a perfect spot for graduation pictures. We took quite a bit of pictures ourselves. The best spot for picture taking is right in front of the three half circle wall with the harbor as the backdrop. The trick to get there is to use this address : 34342 street of the Amber Lantern, Dana point and then park on the street. The entrance is a tiny gate on the side. read more

Just a bit of a path that runs alongside a cliff nothing more nothing less just expect the best! Pretty much a concrete trail that goes along side a huge cliff that's surrounded by some houses as well as a wooden bridge right in the middle of the path! The cool thing about this trail is you can park on each side of it as it doesn't have a beginning or an end it's just a path to catch a cool view on! In the middle of the path you will find the remains of the Dana Point Inn as it's arches are all that are left of what was a hotel on the cliff! There's a cool statue at one point of the trail it's all metal and quite cool looking almost as amazing as the view you can see of the harbor especially on days when the sky is happy or when the sunset is getting all crazy on the California coast! Either way you travel this trail you can't go wrong as it's not very long just long enough for you to enjoy the coastal view up above it all and it's because of this that I'm sure I'll be back here again at one point as it's one of my favorite views in all of Dana! read more

While a lot of the best cliff-top views in Southern California require that you own an eight-figure plot of land, I'm pleased to report that there are some places you can enjoy a billion dollar view for free! Apparently, the city of Dana Point insisted that, as part of a classic community/commerce compromise, a real estate developer had to bring this beautiful public place into existence. When you visit here, while you won't be able to get much of an exercise hike, you will be able to enjoy some truly breathtaking views of the harbor and the areas around it. You can also read some of the history of the area on the sign along the trail. Note: Rumor has it that in the early twentieth century, there was going to be a posh luxury hotel built here, but the Great Depression happened and the hotel never was. read more

Gorgeous short walk with an amazing view of the harbor! I wouldn't consider this a "hiking trail", but it is a must-see when you are in the area. The view is spectacular and a great spot to catch the sunset. Along the walk, there are small spots you can read about the history of the Dana Point and how Bluff Top became a historic spot. I would mention about the history, but that's going to be part of the fun when you come walk along this trail! read more

I found this hidden gem because people have posted photos onto yelp and even checked in at this location. So I know it exists and wanted to see it for myself!! This is by far the best location of Dana Point's harbor. I am certainly surprised this place isn't full of tourist and even photographers!!! I wouldn't say its a trail, more like a pathway. It has seating and lots of stairs to climb. Oh but the views?! AMAZING!! It's in a residential neighborhood so it closes at 10pm. read more
