Beautiful trail in South OC. Free parking in the neighborhoods near the trailhead. It can be a bit tight so if you don't see any spots you may have to drive a block or two away. From the trailhead, it is about 0.5 miles and 300 feet elevation to Aliso Peak. There are stairs along the way to help with the incline. Expect the climb to take about 20 min if you are in decent shape. Your heart will get pumping! Once at the top, you can see a clear ocean view of the Laguna Coast. If you are ambitious, instead of turning right to go back down, you can continue straight on the Aliso Peak Trail for 0.5 more miles all the way to Seaview Park, which will add another 400 feet elevation. read more

Great short Trail. It's about a half of Mile and considered difficult. When you get to the "T" Trail Crossing a little higher up the hike if you go to the left and stay to the right it will take you up to a beautiful, panoramic view of the ocean. Today you can see the different variations of blue from dark blue to very light blue in the water. Although it is only a half of mile it may be a little difficult due to several steep inclines with stairs for some. They have a bench at the top of the hike that overlooks the ocean which we enjoyed sitting there for about 45 minutes. The trip down is much easier. read more

It's so beautiful here!!!! It's is a short hike but very rewarding. You get views of the ocean the entire way. After all of the incline, you reach a point that separates into two parts on the left and right. The left side is to the Toovet end which is more flat land but leads to a view of the ocean. The right side is to Aliso peak where the bench is. It has a slight incline but nothing compared to what you already endured on the first half of Valido. We went to both and they were both beautiful! But the bench area of Aliso peak is a nice photo area. It is marked difficult but it's only difficult because it has steep stairs and a slight dirt incline, but it is do-able!! You go down the same way you go up. This hike is incredible. There are two different trails you can take. Once you hike the initial set of stairs it will lead you to a fork. The trail to your left will lead you to an ocean view. The trail to the right will lead you to a view of Laguna and houses. It's dog friendly but be mindful that in the heat there are rattlesnakes in the brush. Great hike and beautiful views from the top! Free neighborhood parking, but the trail isn't marked clearly, so just look for a chained off dirt path and follow it - you should see a sign soon enough. The incline starts right away, so be prepared! There's no "warm-up" here. The hike itself isn't too bad, and it isn't too long, but the payoff is great! LOVE this little hiking trail!!! Parking is free and you park on the street, it's in a small neighborhood off of PCH. The hike starts and ends with a beautiful view of the water!!! During the hike if you turn around you can see bits of water but I like to wait until the end to get some great views!! This hike is okay for beginners! There's about four flights of stairs towards the beginning of the hike and after that it's a small incline to the top! The hike is pup friendly! I've been a couple times within the past couple months and not too many people have been on the trail and mostly everyone wears a mask and if not everyone I've encountered have been nice enough to go to one side of the trail so we're far apart! Great hike 10/10, my little corgi makes it to the top no problem but I get a little winded haha! read more

What an awesome, dog-friendly trail! It's a short hike through a residential community (1/2 a mile up so 1 mile roundtrip) that brings you to the top of a hill where you can see the entire coastline of Laguna Beach. The trail starts off pretty flat and then it's a steady incline for most of the way. There's one bench at the top of the lookout point. I noticed that there were some other trails that broke off to the sides near the top of the mountain. I guess you could continue on those trails to add some mileage but it looked like you had to come back to the main trailhead to get back down to the parking area. There are doggy bags at the start of the trailhead and at the top of the mountain. There's only 1 trash can at the start of the trailhead so remember to pack up your trash and dispose of it when you return to your car. read more

Beautiful hidden trail next to million dollar Laguna Beach homes. This trail is short but pretty intense. Most of it was uphill which is what made it so difficult for me. It was such an adventure hiking here. I loved that it wasn't just a smooth path the whole way! We encountered rocky areas and steep rocky steps which were hard but doable. The view at the top is absolutely beautiful. You get a 180 scenic view of the blue ocean, mountains, hills, and windy roads. All the sweat and hard work is well worth it! This hike is a nice short but challenging hike that starts off in a neighborhood. You can street park, but there aren't that many spots so keep that in mind when you come check this hike out. There's a pretty great view at the end of the hike , somewhat comparable to Top of the World but definitely less crowded. Just keep in mind that it gets pretty steep in some parts so coming down can be a bit of a challenge. Otherwise a nice hike with great views definitely recommend it if you have an hour to spend in Laguna Beach. read more

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because on this day we could not complete the entire hike - This is not a trail for older people or very young kids. - It starts out pretty steep and although the man-made staircase helps, there are about 55 steps just to help you get to the additional initial incline. LOCATION: don't follow wherever WAZE takes you. Instead just type in 31521 Toto Loma, Laguna and park anywhere in the neighborhood. You will see a dirt road that is the trail. This trail was an awesome find. So glad I was able to take my dog here on a hiking adventure recently. :) Some of the most breathtaking views of Laguna Beach and the local areas/Pacific Ocean. You're high up on the cliffs / mountains, and enjoying the nice sun and warm breeze. It's quite an uphill trek but the views are completely worth it. Stay alert as there are large rocks, and your dog could get tired from so much uphill hiking. Leash required, and bring water! :) There is a bench at the very top of the trail, to rest and take it all in! We went on this trail, but started from Seaview Park in Laguna Niguel on Talavera Dr. The parking is free on this street. After a short flat part, you begin the Aliso Peak Trail and it's pretty much downhill. The trail then has a split toward the left (which is the Valido Trail). It is definitely steep and slippery in parts. At the end is the residential area where most people seem to start the hike. Another hiker led us through this neighborhood down into Table Rock Beach which has a bunch of stairs. This is a nice small beach and there were some people cliff diving on the right during the evening. The part that was definitely not as fun for me was going back. We climbed back up all those stairs from the beach, then went uphill on Valido Trail, then up Aliso Peak Trail, all the way to where we parked. But it definitely got my heart pumping. The Valido Trail going uphill is short, but is considered difficult according to the map. My husband and I did it with our two kids. My hubs and kids left me in the dust going back up. There are different splits after you reach the top of Valido. To the left, there are two trails. The right one is the Aliso Peak Trail which dead ends to the beautiful views people have posted. The left one is the Toovet Trail. The hiker who took us to Table Rock Beach told me that this trail leads to a water tower, and from there said you can make your way to West Street Beach. We will have to try that one next time. To the right at the top of Valido, you go up Aliso Peak Trail which ends in Seaview Park. read more

Liked the extended hike to Aliso Peak and Aliso summit. The peak is say . 8 miles from start. The Summit is say 2.5 miles from start (sort of nondescript high point). Used Google Maps to get to Aliso Summit trailhead from Seaview Park (end of Valdido trail). Great ocean views and chaparral landscape. Also liked adding in half mile down to Table Top Beach from Valdido street free parking. Almost stopped for late lunch at Neapolitan Pizzeria which is right on the way. Exited to the south via Crown Parkway, which went smoothly. All told 6 miles, 3 hours. Pretty safe parking. Accidentally left passenger window open. Nothing taken. Sorry to say no dogs on beach (from 9 am to 6 pm), but otherwise welcome on leash. Thankfully PCH is pretty easy to cross with crosswalk. read more

Dog friendly! (On certain trails) This trail is part of the Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness park, so only a few of the trails are dog friendly, including this one. The trail starts off easily but then you are definitely going uphill, your quads will be burning for a bit. Once you get to flat land again there is a trail map. I recommend doing Valido and Toovet trail in one go (trails on the left) for decent exercise, otherwise if you want you can take the trail on the right which is the longer Aliso Summit trail. Zulu and I will definitely be back, as we want to try all the other dog friendly trails! read more

Beautiful place to hike. Hidden trailhead near the coast and among the million dollar homes in south Laguna Beach. When you use Yelp to find directions it may seem a bit odd at first, but it'll take you exactly where you need to go. A few things I like - this hike has great views of the rolling hills and OC coast, dog friendly, free parking since it starts in a neighborhood, and has different options to make it a short hike or longer one. There is a point where there is a fork in the road and you can turn left (to the higher point towards the coast), or right, which will give you other longer options. I've done the route that goes to the top, closest to the beach, then back down, and its a quick and easy 2 mile hike. Highly recommended for locals read more

This hike from top to bottom took about 30 minutes for us (we are moderately active hikers). It definitely gets your heart pounding, but it isn't too hard in terms of skill level, since there are mostly steps and moderate inclines. There are certain places where it's a bit steep, so take your time and wear good shoes. View at the top is beautiful! Worth it if you want some quick cardio for the day. A very quick and relatively easy trail. My favorite hike in Southern CA is Parker Mesa Overlook in Pacific Palisades. It's a beast of a trail during the summer, though. No shade whatsoever and deep enough in the valley that you miss the cool ocean breeze. Valido Trail offers the same kind of view, but with the ocean breeze, and complete with a bench at the top. Golf course to your right and beautiful bright blue water all around. We saw the prettiest butterflies when we were up there too. We would've stayed up there even longer but we got some company and weren't in the mood for chit chat. There were a couple of dogs on this hike too, so keep in mind it's dog friendly. There's different hikes that extend along this trail, but if you're short on time (or just a little lazy), this trail is perfect with a quick reward to the top. read more

This is always a stop during my Laguna Beach visits...been coming here for years. It's a very short hike about 1 mile round trip starting just around the bend off Paseo de Sur in between residential homes & all street parking. Going up it's mostly all very steep with an area slabbed with wood plank steps, making it possible to climb. Remember to bring water...you'll need it! It's definitely a work out getting up to the top, but once there, you have a great 360 view of all Laguna, with a single bench to take a breather, relax, and enjoy a snack or light meal...as we did. I just climbed as the COVID-19 spread caused all trails & beaches in the area to be closed off until further notice. So glad I got to introduce this hike to someone new before it was too late to enjoy until who knows when. So as of just a few hours ago, this trail is taped off & restricted...along with all Laguna Beaches. Those found crossing the line will be cited a $1,000 fine. Once re-opened though, I will be driving back to experience the pulse increasing cardio with amazing beach view. Can't wait...counting the days! read more

I love this trail! I was visiting from LA, decided to stop for a short hike before we hit the beach. Figured I'll connect with the earth beneath me, and really experience/ see the area. The entrance is somewhat "camouflaged" - you basically walk through a chain link where you follow a dirt road (with people's backyards directly on the left of the path). There is street parking directly above the hiking entrance. (If you see a long high metal fence/ gate you walked too far, just walk directly back down). Why I like the trail is because you get to warm up by getting into the trail from the entrance, then it is 0.5 miles of straight uphill, it's pretty steep going uphill so you def get a hardcore workout pretty much immediately. Once you make it to the end of the steep first part, you see a map where it tells you what paths are a) beginners b) moderate c) hard. We took the beginners path and went up the top where you can take panoramic pictures of the laguna beach sea front and the view is so worth that initial steep hike! Walking back downhill wasn't too bad, it is a little scary for folks who are a little afraid of walking downhill. A must go! read more

The main hike is strenuous and short, but once you get to the top you can choose a few different paths to extend your time there. Go to one of the two left trails to have incredible 180° ocean views. This is one of my favorite hiking trails in South Orange County. The ocean views are incredible. I like to start at Seaview Park at the top of Pacific Island in Laguna Niguel. You can hike all the way down to Table Rock Beach in Laguna (about 3 1/2 miles round trip) but be warned- it is not for the faint of heart. One of the tougher trails I have done out here (it is marked advanced) because of the incline. It is downhill all the way there and uphill all the way back with NO BREAKS. There is a lookout point which is more moderate (but same incline just shorter) which is a less strenuous choice. If you are in the area and like to hike, give it a shot! read more

Love this trail.. My boyfriend and I come here at least once a week. If you take the lower levels of the trail its a very nice view and it's not too exhausting.. However we like to go up the trail to the right and go up to the top.. It's a great work out. And not to mention everyone you stop to catch your breath it's taken away by the views... Wish I had more time in the day to get back there more.. Parking is on the side of the residential road and you enter up a dirt path in between some houses. I love the wooden steps that are there. Don't worry, you'll know which one will lead you to the top. Neighborhood and their inhabitants are generally nice! Ready to help and answer your questions. Asked three people about the trail and they're friendly enough to direct you and give you details on how the hike is! Come at 5 and you can catch the sunset!
