My friends and i came here around 2pm and the view of the ocean paired with the beautiful weather kept us in the same spot for 6 hours! Great spot to get your steps in too- Saving this as "the perfect picnic spot". I used google maps to get here and it was a bit confused and took us to baby beach instead. Make sure to follow the street signs that lead to Nature Parks on Golden Lantern Road. That's all, have fun there! read more

Great park! Very stroller/wheelchair friendly as there is ramps throughout the park to get from the very top to street level. Nice ambiance; we sat out on a picnic blanket and people watched. Lots of people walk dogs here as well. Overall very pleasant experience with a nice view. read more

This is a very quiet park in the afternoon until the dogs come out, who let the dogs out? Now I got that song in your head. There are rolling hills of lawn here. Make sure you pick up after your pet! It's a great place to do a stair climbing workout. read more

Beautiful park! We'll manicured grass perfect for a picnic. Trees on the edge for shade. Paved windy road for a leisurely walk. Bikes were going up and down the paved path and the grassy hills. There are stairs that cut though the park if you wanted a shortcut. The park was pretty empty around noon on a Sunday. More people walking through with their dogs. There are also trash bags available to clean up after the pups. There's a lookout at the top which has great views. There is also a small dog run at the bottom which looked big enough for 3-5 big dogs playing fetch. read more

My friend and I were treated to beautiful views of the Dana Point Harbor and gorgeous bougainvilleas when we walked around Heritage Park. A yoga class was being conducted on the grass and a man was strumming his ukulele in another section. My friend mentioned attending a wedding which took place at the Doris Walker Outlook in the park years ago. Our jaunt here was peaceful and pleasant. read more

Ahh, what a nice little park! 1) If you want to do some stair action, there's a few sets of stairs that run down from the top of the park to Dana Point Harbor Drive. 2) Nice views overlooking the harbor (just wish the shopping center wasn't in my photos) ;) 3) Makes for a nice picnic! 2019: 18/100 read more

This is a wonderful little park in a quiet Dana Point neighborhood. It has beautiful views and lots of grass for the kids to run and play. The views of the harbor are amazing. This park is also very clean and pretty. We were surprised by how well maintained everything looked. Parking is fairly good with a few spots in front of the stairs that lead up to the giant compass at the top. We saw that a lot of people walking their dogs. We never noticed the dog run, but we're looking forward to taking on dogs on our next visit to this cute little park. We also came here right before sunset, and a small group of kids were having fun playing games on the lawn. There are some nice big trees here, and we plan on coming back and having a picnic lunch. For a neighborhood park, the views are really great. The park is so dog friendly, and we look forward to bringing our dogs here soon! read more

Local parks sure make a community's appeal better. Dana Point has two great parks located right next to the harbor. We found Hertiage park just after we left breakfast and decided to walk off some calories. The park encompasses the northern hill of the harbor area, adjacent to Later Bay Park. There's a series of stairs that will take you from the bottom to the top, with several spots to sit down and see the view of the harbor. Large grassy areas for playing sports and a nice area to walk your dog in or you can take them to the dog run towards the bottom. Once you get to the top, you'll be in front of a large gated housing development. Also an excellent place to get some uphill cardio. read more

'Been wanting to visit here for quite some time now... Today, I took the climb up the concrete staircase. ('With HAPA Boy in tow.) 'Another great OC Park!... 'And what a view! The dog run/play area is "eh." (2 Stars) I mean it could definitely use some solid improvements but if you need to get your dog out & running... (shrugs) 'Might just do the trick. The area is relatively small with patches of grass peppered throughout mixed with large areas of dirt & holes... 'And as small as it is, some dog owners are still inept to pick up after their own canine companions. (sigh) 'Lazy @ss people. 'After five minutes, HAPA looked @ me, "Okay, I'm bored... 'Lets get out of here." I couldn't have agreed with him more. 8/ I'm sure when this dog run/area was initially installed, it must've been great... Now, it's just kinda sad. IMO, you're better off just taking your dog on leash around the general area... You'll both be happier for it. We'll return to walk the park but it's the last time HAPA will be on "lockdown" here... Came here on Friday 1pm Maintenance was cleaning the dog park area. This is an outstanding place for the dog, very secluded, water available, off leash. Parking is confusing - but we were alone the whole 40 minutes so meh. read more

Great little hidden gem at the end of "Old Golden Lantern". Look for the street sign off of Del Prado. Easy walking distance from most beach communities in Dana Point. Hillside grassy sloped park with many look out views of Dana Harbor. It's probably some of the best viewing of the harbor. Good walking path with stairs and paved walkway so it is accessible if you cannot climb or go down stairs. People on blankets enjoying cool breezes and views. It's also used as a quiet time area under the big pine trees to read a book. You can access the beautiful park and make your way to harbor for several outside dining options. Remember to wear mask in harbor area with social distancing. They have signs posted everywhere. read more

This is a great park! Very beautiful grounds and view! The park is a hill with different "levels" or "tiers" of park. At the bottom they have a dog park area with an enclosed area for the dogs to run around and play. A great place to come workout (run the hills, or stairs), play with your dog, or just relax and enjoy the view. The grounds are kept nicely landscaped. The have events that happen here a lot (primarily the Summer), so check it out online. read more

Great park but some residents/visitors ruin it for others. I suggest more visible signs requiring dogs to be on a leash. Also, I suggest having a phone at all times in case you are harassed by someone. I am a 64-year-old lady who lives near this park, and I take my rescue puppy here whenever I have the chance. My puppy is still sensitive around other dogs, so I am concerned when I see that sometimes people let their dogs run around without a leash. Today I asked a couple with a golden retriever to kindly put their dog on a leash, but then he responded in an extremely rude and angry manner: "I don't take orders from anyone and certainly WILL NOT take them from you. Get out of here!" He made me so nervous that I had to ask someone passing by to kindly escort me out of the park because the man with the golden retriever was very angry, rude, and aggressive toward me. Why do we have signs all over the place about keeping dogs on a leash when we don't obey them? read more

Incredible and breath taking. This is my favorite spot in Dana point. Truly amazing views and so peaceful.

We had our wedding reception here, permit was cheap, beautiful location, hard to beat.

Beautiful! My daughter's wedding ceremony was here and it was fabulous. Fortunately, we had a picture perfect November 1, 2015 day. We got a big RV for facilities and had catered appetizers after the ceremony while pictures were taken and before moving on to the reception in San Juan Capistrano. It was very special. read more
