My sister and I were starving from a long morning of grocery shopping. She said she wanted a cheesesteak. We checked the map and LaSpada's popped up. I had no idea they had more than 1 location (Lee rd in Orlando) We popped in and were greeted by the cashier. We ordered a large mushroom with curly fries and chips lol we split it because it was huge. Very tasty cravings satisfied!!! There were a few families and single people eating inside. They looked like "regulars" to me. LaSpada's is a hit !

Can't believe I've never reviewed LaSpada's! We've been coming here for years and honestly I have never had a bad sandwich! My go to is the cheesesteak or the original (Italian) and both are solid good options loaded with meat! The service is always quick and polite. There are a few tables inside to eat but nothing fancy. The ice tea is also always fresh and delightful!

The food was great. The customer service was all right. There was a dining area where you could sit. They have a variety of chips that you can choose from. They also have a drink machine or a soda cooler if you would like a children drink not a fountain drink.

My husband is originally from the Philly area and this is his favorite place in town. We drive from Winter Park to Sanford about once a month just so that he can get a cheesesteak from this greasy hole-in-the-wall. We recently brought a friend here and he got the pastrami and loved it too. The curly fries are super tasty too, and I always forget that they have them. The desserts look good, but I haven't tried them yet. It's not the fanciest place, but the food is good and it's clean enough that I will eat there with him. They also have Herr's chips and some fancy sodas that I appreciate too.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile because the reviews are great but I was honestly not impressed with the food. For one, I ordered cheese fries and they were delivered without the cheese. And the cheesesteak sandwich is so dry, I can hardly even get it down. Sorry but first and last time trying this place.

This afternoon was my first time at this establishment. I wanted to get some lunch. The meal I ordered was a Steak Cheesesteak with lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, and onions. It was delicious. It was very flavorful and packed with meat and cheese. The service was very swift and everyone that worked there was very friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was very chill and relaxed. They have televisions on with sports. Overall it was a wonderful experience with spectacular food and I will be returning. That's all.

My coworkers and I visit La spada's at least once a month for lunch. I've tried most of their cheesesteaks, several of their hoagies, and salads. My favorite of all of them is the Laspada's Famous hoagie. The 12" is $15.95, which to me is a bit expensive; however, it's loaded with freshly sliced meat, cheese, and other ingredients to the point that you can't close the sandwich up to eat it. You almost have to eat it open-faced. Most of the time I'll only eat half and then save the other half for dinner. This location is very small, if you're coming for lunch you definitely have to be there right when they open at 11:00 a.m. because this place gets packed. The few tables they do have fill up quick. Sometimes we dine in, but when it's busy, it's hard to enjoy your meal with all the noise and everyone else standing around looking at you while they are waiting for their order. What works best for us is ordering our meals 15-30 minutes before they open, pick our order up, then go back to our shop to eat versus dining in. If you do order at the counter then dine-in know that your order could take 15-20 minutes to prepare. I took Nancy and my mom to Laspada's last week, it was their first time here. I ordered a laspada's famous and mom and Nancy both ordered the 10" mushroom cheese steak ($11.99), which all came out excellent The only thing Nancy wasn't too fond about was the bread, she says the bread was a bit chewy and didn't expect that. I don't know if it's a Philly thing, but the staff aren't super friendly, good luck getting someone to crack a smile. Yet they do get you what you need and overall do a great job making some delicious food. The store is not super clean, but it's not a fine dining restaurant either. All-n-all, I highly recommend stopping in to give them a try. If you don't, you are definitely missing out.

I recently had a discussion with my brother-in-law regarding the lack of a really great cheese steak restaurant in the Central Florida area. When I made this statement, I immediately received an odd look, and the simple statement, "you've obviously never been to LaSpada's." I immediately bookmarked LaSpada's. However, I kept hearing the legends that going for lunch at the Winter Park location was a nightmare. On my way back from a hearing in Sanford, I noticed that there appeared to be a LaSpada's location off 46. I immediately turned in. I was greeted by a very friendly cashier, who helped me decide what to get: the 10" cheese steak. While my sub was being prepared, I was asked whether I wanted additional items, like sweet and hot peppers. I appreciated this, and did end up going with peppers. First off, a warning. When you get your sub, give it a couple minutes. This sandwich is HOT. When I received mine, I was so excited that I immediately dug in, and ended up burning the top of my mouth. My impatience aside, I can truly say this is the best cheese steak in Central Florida, period. A ton of meat. The perfect amount of cheese. All placed atop a fresh, soft roll. The perfect amount of seasoning, with a good amount of onion. The suggestion for hot and sweet peppers is also very recommended. Let's just say that I will be planning my Seminole County hearings around late lunches at LaSpada's from now on. read more

If you want the best cheesesteak in Central Florida, LaSpada's is the place to go. I always get the large cheesesteak. It is always perfect. I hate when restaurants put huge amounts of onions or peppers to save money. LaSpada's doesn't do that. You will get plenty of steak. I love the amount of seasoning. If you do not have time to sit down & savor this, then wait until you do have the time. You do risk getting burned. Also, they are busy most of time so it is not "fast food". But it is worth it. I have had the large Turkey & Cheese hoagie. It was so good. It took me about 3 days to eat it. Amazingly, it remained fresh. The employees at LaSpada's are very kind & helpful. They know me by name. I like that because I do not want to give up my money to someone who's annoyed by my presence. read more

This little hole on the wall that we drove to get the best cheesesteak sub in Orlando , Don't waste your gas going to, I know restaurants are trying to survive now days but friendliness it's not costly and it can make a difference between spending $36 dollars or maybe seeing $72 in the future, we will not go back, Very Rude, Tired Young Man at the Counter, That was his welcome, I Am Very Tired, Hope we can trust our sub when we get home? Closest thing to home here in Florida!!! (Originally from Broomall, PA) I've been WAITING for them to open near me, and now my wish has come true! I can finally get a cheesesteak that's not steak-ums on a hotdog roll - yuk! LaSpadas has great, fresh rolls (be sure to ask for the Amarosa roll), and good quality meat for the steaks. You can top em with Whiz if you want too (but that's not my scene...). As an added bonus - Herr's chips and Tastykakes!!! Now if I can get them to get some Birch Beer on tap, we'll be all set! Enjoy - you won't be sorry! read more

This place is hands down in my opinion in the top 5 sandwich / subs type of restaurant that I have EVER been to. This is the type of place that you go out of the way to indulge on some of the best subs you will ever eat. Their subs ARE pretty expensive but they pack so much meat and everything else into their Philly style sub rolls you can literally make two meals out of their 10" subs. My favorite is the Laspadas Famous and their cheesesteaks are probably the best around. I wish they had some locations in the Tampa area and I try to visit one of their 3 locations whenever I am in the Orlando area. Service at each location that I have been to has always been great. Although their locations are not fancy and could quite honestly use a remodel, I still very highly recommend checking this place out. read more

I really hate giving bad reviews, but this place deserves a giant F grade! I had been craving a real Philly cheesesteak and this place was recommended by one of my favorite radio shows. I live on the far west side of Lake county and this place was a out of my way, but for good food I will drive anywhere. Fast forward, I made it to this place with one hour and 30 minutes to go before they closed. Well, the employees decided they would start closing down early. When I asked when the closed ( I knew when bc I saw the sign on the door and hours on Yelp) they said we close in 20 minutes ( insert head tilt, attitude and eye roll).... I said thank you and left. I know the service industry is hurting right now, but rude and lazy employees are hurting small business owners even more. I drove almost an hour with money to spend and was turned away by a bad attitude. I will never go back. read more

I'm a Philly girl at heart and am really happy to have a cheesesteak place not far from my house. I made the mistake of ordering at the wrong location and showed up to Sanford and the guys were completely understanding and remade my to go order quickly. I think their sweet potato fries also have a ton of flavor. This small place is always a fun time! read more

My husband brought me here. Honestly, I thought a cheese steak? In Sanford Florida? By oil change places off of 46? But man this is truly a philly cheese steak and they even had herrs chips! Which is a chip only found in the Pennsylvania area. I will be back because this little place made me a believer. Good food does come from small little places. read more

LaSpada's is simply amazing. I was so happy when this location opened in Sanford and is only a few minutes away. Whether you want a cold sub or a nice hot cheese steak they always deliver. First of all if you order a large sub, be prepared as you will be greeted with a mountain of meat. As other reviewers have mentioned not only is meat key, but the bread that LaSpada's using is perfect. A great roll truly makes or breaks a sandwich. The meat and cheeses used are fresh and plentiful. Love LaSpada's! read more

AUTHENTIC! We moved from Jersey 3 years ago and typically traveled to Philly monthly for a true american treat. Once we landed in Central Florida, I thought that delicacy was lost...until we discovered LaSpada's! The location in Sanford or the DeLand/Orange City location are equally appetizing! CHEESESTEAKS!!!! I've been looking for a place with delicious, fulfilling, mouth watering cheesesteaks and I finally found it. My taste buds call Laspada's name on a daily basis. If you haven't noticed I take my Philly's pretty seriously and this place gets the job done. Their fried mushrooms are on point too. Coming from New York City I would frequent Philadelphia a lot for some good old cheesesteaks, and now living in Florida I can still get the authentic stuff. Their sandwiches are so good and the family that runs Laspada's are even better. Wish I can find a great NY style pizza place down here too. read more

Good specials, and decent food. Quick service with friendly customers. This 3 star is not due to bad experiences, just simply because its ok. Its not great. Apparently they are a chain (didn't know til after), not that thats a problem just something I didnt know. I had the Italian sub and as I said above, the price point was good, the bread was fresh, and the meats were good. They slice in house and provide a pretty good sub, but I personally would prefer Jimmy Johns over them (But not Jersey Mikes). I am from Pennsylvania, so it hits home to see Herrs potato chips! Overall I would go back, but thats mainly due to Orlando just having mediocre subs in general (which is really a shame because a good sub goes a longggg way). read more

By far the best cheesesteaks in central Florida. Every thing is perfect from the meat to the bread. Small interior of the restaurant (but if you go after the typical "lunch rush" there's plenty of available seating. Consistent experience at all LaSpadas locations. Friendly staff. Clean tables. Great cheesesteak, and wonderful people. We had lunch for the first time last week, although we've been meaning to go for some time. Not fancy, but a great value. I had the ultimate sub and it was loaded with meat and cheese and peppers. The large is really large. Enough for two. The fries were fabulous and the hot dog was split and grilled. Yum. I'd be happy to eat there all the time, but I would weigh 300 pounds. read more

This has been a go to sub shop for me for 20 years, used to get my subs from the owner and his wife, then his kids and it has always been amazing until today, I ordered a 10 inch chicken cheesesteak supreme for pick up, they made me a cheesesteak instead, the taste was below par, I was eating it until a found a mushroom with a long dark hair wrapped around in a ball, not sure if this store has new ownership but it's just not even close to what it used to be. read more

Stopped by here for the first time after eating at the Lee Rd. location for years. I'm not going to use this to trash the Winter Park restaurant at all, I want to be completely clear about that. Love them, still gonna eat there, but..I prefer this location. This location has about the same availability for parking as Lee Rd. as well as about the same amount of seating. None of those were ever problems for me. I did get to chat a bit with some of the employees at this location and they were kind, welcoming, and helpful. Food here is as good as advertised. Got family in Philly and many friends in town originally from Philadelphia that have co-signed on the authenticity of the sandwiches here at these two establishments. Good price, good amount of food, and a good atmosphere. I do favor this location slightly more because in my own subjective opinion, the meat (albeit my only time eating here) was more juicy and more flavorful than my history at Lee Rd. Sanford and Winter Park are both excellent in what they do, but if I have extra time to ride up to Sanford, I would prefer to do so for this type of sandwich. read more

They're always closed! At some point they must have drastically reduced their hours. The last 3 times I've gone there for dinner, they were closed. The food is actually pretty good. I love their cheese steak, it's incredible. Unfortunately, they're not open during regular dinner hours. Twice, during the week, I stopped in on the way home from work to pick up dinner, but it was a few minutes after 7pm and the place looked abandoned. Seriously, they weren't cleaning up and closing down...they were gone, lights out, no one in sight. Then today, a Sunday afternoon, we stopped by just after 5pm and again they're closed. Wth? The posted hours say open until 6pm. Even that's ridiculously early and they didn't stay that long!! Now that I think of it...I haven't seen the place open in weeks, maybe months. It doesn't make sense to close your restaurant in the middle of average dining hours. Maybe they're closed? read more

Just don't expect a Lee Rd experience. They par cook the fries here... other location never does this. Makes them greasy. Quality will always be a little harder. Had a deluxe Italian today, bread was stale or bag was open to long. Made it split in the middle and just wasn't good. I live closer to this location, just can't get the same quality. Right down to the poor soda choices. Thank god they carry Mr. Pibb with the other no name brands. Laspadas is seriously the best sandwiches I have ever had. Just stick to Lee Rd location. Top notch! read more

Let me say first.. my wife grew up near Philly. This is one of the best cheese steaks she has ever had. The meat is delicious, bread was spot on. The aroma is awesome. Some of the best spots are the smallest. Don't be fooled by the auto service center next to it when you pull in haha. read more

Great cheese steak, great meatball parm sandwiches. Side salad had some nice things on it and a very good balsamic dressing. Super friendly people and nearby. I have to admit that the 'next to the muffler shop' location kept me from trying it but the Yelpers are not wrong...this is a great little spot! read more

Had the 10 inch cheese steak special with fries and drink. The steak was on the bland side even with the "hot" peppers - the meat should have been seasoned a bit on the grill. Very busy at lunchtime but staff was super nice and friendly. Would recommend calling in to go orders ahead. Good value and very filling - put some hot sauce on it! :) read more

History

Established in 1938.

Tony opened the family's first hoagie shop in Atlantic City, NJ in 1938. In the 1940's several more shops followed in New Jersey and Delaware. In the 1950's Tony's fourth son John carried on family traditions with many shops in the tri-state area. In 1958 he opened the family's longest standing location in Parkside, PA winning many awards in the Delaware County area. In the 70's, John LaSpada Jr. and his family relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and opened a store in Lauderdale by the Sea. After many years in business, John moved his operation to Orlando, FL where he currently runs the family business in Orange City, and Orlando Florida. And more locations to coms so we can keep serving our famous sandwiches that have delighted so many for years.

Its a dive, well kinda hahaha, right when you walk up you can tell it use to be a quiznos sub shop, they didn't even bother changing the seats lol. Either way who cares if the cheese steak is good, and it is, very good. I would like a little more seasoning in the meat. So why 3 stars and not 4-5. I could not help but see the vast amount of sweat dripping from the cooks, granted they were busy for lunch on a Friday, but take 2 seconds and wipe your face with a paper towel please. The other reason was the dinning room was a train wreck, bites of food, straws, napkins, etc on the floor, soda station was messy and out of ice tea and forks. Over all maybe they were having an off day so don't take my review to harsh, I will be back next time I'm on this side of town around lunch time. read more

Sandwich served with bigotry. Never had someone serve me a sandwich while saying they were going to wear their Trump shirt to the Black Lives Matter protests this afternoon. Of course this was said in front of black youth. Keep in mind we're in Sanford, which is infamous for Trayvon Martin's murder.
