Getting LASIK here was one of the best decisions!! The entire staff here is so kind and attentive to answering any questions you may have. I don't know what special training they go through to be able to remember people so well- but they're amazing! I usually have a tough time remembering people's names I've met a few times, but each time I stopped by the office they not only remembered my name but also details about conversations we'd had over Disney and Star Wars. :) They are the most personal and professional staff, and it feels nice to not just be "another patient" with an office that services so many clients daily! Dr. Smith performed my surgery and he is such a nice person! I only talked with him for a few minutes, but he was absolutely charming and dealt with the fact that I was a scaredy cat during the surgery so perfectly. I was shaking like a leaf the whole time but it really is painless and although I kept expecting it to hurt at some point, there really was nothing to worry about. They do a great job of giving you aftercare instructions before hand so that after the surgery you can be ready to just go since your eyes will be sensitive and you'll want to get home to sleep it off ASAP. They did such an amazing job of educating me on what to expect during and after my surgery. I hadn't researched much on it because I didn't want to psych myself out. They put my mind at ease about the process and helped me feel ready to take the step toward clear vision! I was nearsighted and had an astigmatism which a previous eye doctor had told me also caused farsightedness. So I had two prescriptions, one for nearsighted and one for farsighted, and was wearing glasses every waking minute due to working at a computer and reading, two things putting constant strain on my eyes. After LASIK, I now have 20/15 vision and no astigmatism!!! Can you even believe that? I didn't think LASIK would change my life so much, I thought it would be more convenient for sure, but I didn't even anticipate how much it affects my day to day. Being able to go without glasses and see everything so clearly is amazing. I'm six months out from my surgery, so I waited until the primary healing process was over to leave my review and I can say I everyday am so glad I decided on getting LASIK done with LASIK Plus. Had a fantastic experience at this office. Just had my surgery yesterday. The staff was warm, friendly, extremely competent and responsive. The procedure was quick, I didn't feel rushed; the surgeon took the time to explain exactly what he would do and talked me through the procedure. When I got a bit tense during the procedure, someone held my hand. The office team called to follow up and see how I was doing, made sure I had no questions and was genuinely kind to me. Just had my day after follow up from my Lasiks surgery and I now have 20/15 vision!!! I am thrilled because I have had horrible vision since I was 12 years old and was -5.0 in both eyes before surgery! Awesome Awesome Awesome! I surveyed my Facebook friends on where to go for LASIK. Dr Eugene Smith was the #1 recommendation by a landslide. I went to 2 other docs (ya gotta shop around, right?) but no one topped the LasikPlus experience. The office feels both professional and relaxed. From check in, to evaluation, to getting cost info...the ENTIRE staff was kind, informative and made sure all of my questions were answered before I went home. On the big day (yesterday) I was in and out in about 90 minutes! It was great to wake up this morning and not have to reach for my glasses. I went back for my followup today and had 20/20 vision!!! It's pricey but it's surgery done right there in the office while the waiting room occupants look on. Get the lifetime policy and go back for yearly exams. Not a 5-star because you have to remind them every time you go in that you have the lifetime policy. Apparently, they don't put this information in the scheduling system. This was by far the most life changing best moment quick decision of my life. I came in just to get the exam and see if I was a lasik candidate and setup an appointment. The staff is so friendly, it's like walking into a place where you already know them, they are professional and kind and you just feel instantly comfortable. After the exam I was told I can do same day! I was totally shocked, I hadn't thought about it and was going to plan for September. After making arrangements with my boyfriend to be my driver I decided to go for it. I was there several hours waiting for my time (instead of driving home) and watched as many patients went in and out, smiles and relief they did it! Dr. Smith is one of the most amazing people I've ever seen. He stayed consistent the entire time I saw him, everyone treated so well, and I was one of the end of the day patients and seriously you would have thought he just started the day. He was thoughtful, thorough and so very comforting. He even recognized my boyfriend who had his done there by him 4 years ago. The man is amazing. The 2 assistants in the room were so kind and stay in contact with you, assuring you, asking how you're doing. You never feel alone or over crowded. I was nervous and I was shaking, but they kept me calm and assured and it was so nice. The room is a little cold, so when you go you might want to wear a long sleeve shirt or something slightly warm so you don't get cold. The process itself wasn't as traumatic as I thought it might be. It's pretty quick and they count down parts of it for you, the eye drops to the thing holding your eye open to the suction is like 20 seconds I think each eye. With them saying, "10 more seconds, 8, 5, you're almost there, doing good, 2,1" it made me stay calmer knowing that. When you move over to the laser Dr. Smith will plainly state what you're to do, he does is in such a manner that you know you're in good hands. That this is going to be alright. Another assistant I could hear saying "you're looking good how are you feeling".. They just do this so perfect. I drove over and hour and half to this office from where I live, I'd have driven twice that to come see this group. I have had very little to no after effects. Slight "scratchy" feeling in the left eye, but it eased over night and no redness and no swelling. I drove to my follow up appointment the next morning :) I saw signs I hadn't really seen clearly before. If you're thinking about doing this, you've come to look at the right place. Just read the reviews, read about Dr. Smith and then go meet the staff, you'll soon "see"... This is going to be the best decision you can make for this! read more

I happened to stumble upon LasikPlus at Galleria as I was preparing to get my wisdom teeth pulled at Dr. Bankston's office at the same building and I'm so glad I did! After researching the company and Dr. Smith I decided to set up an appointment. I was able to setup my consultation online with a variety of open dates and times to choose from. After my consultation, I was informed that they accepted a variety of payment options, honored my insurance discount, gave me a $500 off discount, and ability to use my health flex account. The consultation went well and soon came surgery day. On my day of surgery Dr. Smith took his time to answer all of my outstanding questions and recommended PRK in both eyes because of my thin corneas. Even though I could qualify for LASIK in one eye, he made it clear that the safest route for my thin corneas and my age (27) was PRK. The doctor and his assistant, Dan reviewed all benefits and risks and left nothing for surprise. The doctor even gives his cell phone number to all his patients incase they run into any questions. I even got a follow up call from Dr. Smith the night of my second eye surgery, which was greatly appreciated. The doctor and his staff are very knowledgeable and friendly! I really enjoyed the doctors assistant Dan. He helped the process go by quickly and painlessly while providing his positive encouragement throughout the procedure. I had two separate visits which involved one eye at a time and each time I got the same five star experience. I was also in and out for my surgeries. If you want personalized care, do not use LasikPlus. They move you through like cattle. You are told you will be in the office for 3-4 hours on the day of your surgery (for a 10-15 min procedure). Once checked in, you sit and wait while the slew of others ahead of you take their turn. Dr. Smith spoke with me very briefly when it was my turn (to make sure he had the correct eye and if it was for distance or near), then led me to the surgery room. There, nothing was explained as it happened. You're moved from one chair to another, not knowing what is going on because everyone in the surgery room acts as if they are too busy to talk. If LasikPlus is going to run "specials" (ie $500 off per eye), knowing their patient numbers are going to increase, open up more days for surgeries for heaven's sake. And how about employ a doctor in addition to Dr. Smith to do the surgeries? Ridiculous. Do better LasikPlus. read more

Lasik plus, been over a month and my vision is 15/20 (anyone that's confused by that--it essentially means better than 20/20 vision). I was a bit uneasy at first since my left eye initially got worse than pre-Lasik...but everyone at Lasikplus scheduled my in right away as a walk in, got things covered, and within a week my eye was significantly better (although still wasn't quite 15/29). As I said, over a month later and my vision is THE BEST. For anyone who is considering Lasik--DO IT!!!!! Thank you for everyone at Lasik plus!!! I'm making referrals left and right. Waiting for my eye appointment so nervous but the staff is so nice and calming. Update once I come out soon! Update: they did not lie about the procedure being so quick and easy! Yesterday morning I had corrective vision surgery at the Galleria location with Dr. Eugene Smith, and less than 24 hours later I can already see a million times better than I ever did with glasses... I'm so in awe of my new eyes and can't believe the procedure was so quick and easy! I think it would be appropriate for me to start by saying that I am EXTREMELY squeamish when it comes to any type of surgery or medical procedure, so for years I never even viewed LASIK as an option... However, as my vision started to decline more and more each year and affect my work/travel, I began to ask friends and coworkers about their experiences with LASIK eye surgery (which were all incredibly positive). After seeing numerous glowing reviews online about Dr. Smith and his staff I finally decided to give LASIK a shot and elected to go in for a consultation. From start to finish, the doctors and staff at LasikPlus were nothing short of amazing... Every person I had the pleasure of interacting with had a genuinely caring and positive energy, and did everything they could to make sure I felt comfortable and taken care of. I was given plenty of opportunities to ask questions about LASIK and I loved how excited everyone seemed to be about the procedure! Most of the staff members I spoke with had already undergone corrective vision surgery at some point and had lots of reassuring things to say about the process, which really put my nerves at ease. The consultation process was very informative and organized and I was able to pick out a date for my surgery at my consultation. On the day of my surgery I was more excited than nervous, but once I sat down in the operating room I definitely started to feel a little uneasy! My anxiety quickly dissolved as all of the doctors were totally relaxed, supportive, and upbeat. The entire procedure went very smoothly and was over in less than ten minutes. I had my procedure done on Friday and was driving Saturday! It was a super quick and pleasing experience. I went from horrible vision to 20/15! I am trying to convince my wife to get it done, as it is a life enhancing experience that I wish I had done years ago! The doctors and staff are extremely helpful. The doctor even gives patients his personal cellphone number. That is amazing customer service! ALSO, once you have the surgery, you have to take a lot of different eye drops, etc. I recommend using the Android app "Medisafe" to help remind you of when you need to use each kind of eye drop. read more

Would not recommend to anyone. Nobody explained what mono-vision is until months after the surgery. If I knew I would have never done it. I was asked to sign papers 2 min after examination and my pupils were enlarged so I could not see anything. The two girls who made me sign and schedule surgery had to read it for me. Surgery was fast and it went well but just as other reviewers you get empty promises that blurriness will go away. Went back for followup and guess what, I am being told to try glasses because of left eye blurriness. It has been a year now and as of today I am wearing glasses to watch tv 6 feet away from me. I am not able to read a tag in front of me while driving. I am starting to see blurriness while working on my laptop as well so that means glasses 24/7 again. Save your 4k and don't do it. Do not fall for that bowl full of customer glasses. You will need them again for sure. If your profession is digital markets, do not do it. read more

This was not a good experience for me, first off I should have listened to the gentleman that told me that his eyesight went back to normal after a certain amount of time after having the surgery, something told me to get up and walk out but I didn't, I ended up getting the procedure done, after about six months I noticed there was no change. I went for a follow up and the Indian lady was very Condescending and passive aggressive told me that sometimes the laser miss! And that I can do it again, What? So I should let him peel my cornea back again and risk going blind? This procedure didn't work for me and I wasn't about to take another risk to do it again. Also my eye runs like a faucet now. I decided to get Lasik after researching the negative health effects of long term contacts use. LasikPlus had a great discount with my insurance, and the reviews looked nice, so I just went with it. Fantastic decision! Everyone at the facility is soooo nice (Chris, Dr. Granger, Karen, etc.) and you can tell they love working there, and working with Dr. Eugene Smith. I booked a 90 minute consultation on a Monday, and had the surgery that Friday! The price was unbelievable in an almost-too-good-to-be-true type way (my eyes barely qualified for traditional bladeless, which I went with, despite a slight hesitancy due to the price being SO low.) They don't try to oversell you either (I could have opted for a more $ version, but they were fine and even encouraging of what I chose, and made it clear the quality would be the exact same.) True, Dr. Smith does a LOT of procedures per day, so it almost feels like an airport or something (with people waiting at the gate to board the flight, and friends and family in baggage claim ), but it's definitely a well oiled machine, and there is no effect on quality! The Dr. himself is very kind. As for the procedure... well, it's definitely intense. I think it was worse for me because I tried not to psyche myself out, so I didn't even think about it till it was actually happening. I feel like if I had over-researched it before, it would have seemed "not as bad", but since I literally didn't research it at all, when it actually happened... I was a bit in shock. (No pain, but not the most comfortable situation.) I thought the second eye was easier, because you know you made it through the first! I did a lot of shopping around before getting my Lasik Procedure done. There's always a small risk something goes wrong so I wanted to be in the best hands. Here's a breakdown: The Equipment: The best machine (as of writing this review) seems to be the allegretto wavelight. From my research, it causes the least starbursts and halos. That's the machine Lasik plus uses. They also have another machine that cuts the flap with a laser, though that's less impressive since even discount Lasik providers use lasers to make the flap these days. The Surgeon: Dr. Smith has done over 90k procedures. The Price: It wasn't the cheapest but in this case, I was happy paying a premium knowing I had an experienced doctor with the best equipment money can buy. My Experience: I did an initial consultation with another office before choosing lasik plus. The other office seemed very pushy and impatient. Lasik plus, on the other hand, had friendly, attentive staff. Dr. Patel did my initial consultation and she did a great job of setting realistic expectations. I asked her a ton of questions and she was happy to answer them all. She also took the time to make sure I thoroughly understood her explanations. I wish all my doctors could be like her. Dr. Smith sat down with me before the surgery and told me exactly what to expect. He asked if I had any questions and gave me his personal cell phone number if at any point I had any issues after the surgery. The surgery lasted about 20 minutes. I went to bed afterwards and later that night got a call from Dr. Smith who was just calling to check on me and see how I was doing. The next day I went back for a checkup and had 20/15 vision. About 3 weeks later I went back and saw Dr. Patel for my final exam and she told me everything looked great. It's been about 4 weeks since I've had the surgery and I have to say it's the best money I ever spent. read more

My entire experience with this LasikPlus center has been nothing short of amazing. The free consultation was easy to schedule, the staff and doctors were very nice and informative, and they were willing to answer my list of questions. Dr. Patel was pleasant, professional, and gave me the okay that I was eligible for LASIK. However, I was clearly uneasy/unsure about getting the procedure so she actually went to talk to Dr. Smith who was in the office that day performing surgeries and had him sit down and talk with me about any concerns I had. He personally checked my eyes again and reviewed my file and I hadn't even committed to the procedure nor LasikPlus yet!! He also gives out his personal number and stressed that I should call him with any concerns and that he'd be happy to talk to my very concerned mother about the procedure as well. Who does that?! I left undecided and noncommittal though and told the doctors/staff at LasikPlus that I needed to look at other centers too for peace of mind that I actually shopped around. That same night, Dr. Smith personally gave me a call and told me that he wanted to make sure that when I was shopping around to consider factors like type of procedure and lifetime guarantees on top of cost (since I'm young). That spoke volumes to me that he took the time to do that. I shopped around at another Lasik center and did not have the same great experience that I had with LasikPlus, so I ultimately scheduled my surgery with Dr. Smith. I had the surgery on a Thursday morning and was there for maybe a little over an hour? Most of that time was spent going through paperwork and the staff making sure I knew what to do post-surgery like don't rub eyes and when to put in eyedrops, etc. The surgery itself took less than 15 minutes. I went home somewhat blurry eyed and took a nap with those eye protectors taped to my face. When I woke up my vision wasn't very sharp, it was a little difficult to look at screens, and one of my eyes felt kind of gritty like there was sand in it. These "issues" persisted for a couple days but resolved themselves. Because I was super paranoid, I felt like every little accidental rub of the eye meant that I was going blind.. So I called LasikPlus and Dr. Smith's personal number a couple of times for mostly false alarms but they were super patient, kind, reassuring, accommodating (could list more nice adjectives...). At my second post-op appointment about 2 weeks later, one of my eyes was 20/15 (better than "perfect") and the other was 20/25 (less than "perfect") which incited another little freak out. But I gave it time and also 20/25 isn't half bad when I was pretty much blind before. So anyway, I'm more than 3 months out from when I got the surgery and one of my eyes is 20/15 and the other one is 20/20 so I'm REALLY HAPPY!!! Highly recommend!!!!! read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at LasikPlus. My initial consultation went very well. The staff was very friendly and made me feel comfortable with having the procedure done. I was scheduled for 10:30am. They told me to expect to be there for up to four hours. I completed the paperwork and paid for the entire procedure. I sat and waited...and waited...and waited... My procedure was not performed until 4:45pm... Six hours and fifteen minutes later. After waiting all that time I was extremely anxious. I was nervous about the procedure to begin with. Everything I read said that the Doctor would give you a small does of valium or something to help you feel at ease and calm your anxiety. Nothing was ever offered. No one even asked how I was feeling about the procedure. They put me on the table. They clamp your eye open and you can see the "thing" coming at your face. There is a tremendous amount of pressure in your eye socket and while there is no pain, you can feel the eye being cut. After the first eye, I was tempted to bolt. I didn't. I stayed there and suffered through the next one. I have done everything exactly as instructed. It is just four days later, and my results seem different than the ones I've read about. Distance is still quite blurry and my up close vision is way worse than it has ever been. Maybe I was a very rare case of things not going well. But they did not go well at all...and I would not recommend the procedure and certainly not this office. I'm sure they are all very good people, and I hate bad mouthing the office, but I'm simply being honest about my disappointment and regret. read more

Honestly, I am disappointed. I had the procedure done a year ago. The first 6 months were ok but then I started to feel a big discomfort, eye pain, dizziness, dryness and foreign body sensation all the time. It really affects my day to day activities and I am tired and very worried. I saw many eye doctors and neurologists and they all say the flap has an irregularity on the edge and it may be the reason why I feel dizziness all the time. I guess it is not Dr Smith's fault but I would appreciate a bit of help from his part. I asked to see him but I saw another doctor instead. I am disappointed and everyday I am telling myself I shouldn't have done it. I am being very honest st here and I don't want to say it is lasik plus fault. I am just sharing with you my terrible days since I have done the procedure. read more

Wow. I have been putting this off for 10 years. Scared. But from my first consultation, meeting Michelle and Karen at the front desk and John taking care of me and meeting Dr. Patel, all my worries, concerns etc were erased. They really do try and prepare you with videos, paperwork and answering all your questions. It was a long, over 2 HR time there to prepare for my surgery day but worth it in the end. Dr. Smith is a jewel. I arrived at 7 am for surgery. He went over everything even if I did not quite understand everything that was going to happen, Dr. Patel, John, and Dr. Smith all put me at ease. Walking into the laser room, performing the procedure took all of 13 minutes. I left with blurry eyes but went home directly to sleep as instructed. I did my drops, antibiotic and steroid, wore my glasses and slept. My eyes felt irritated all day but by day 2 and follow up visit all is well. Dr. Smith even called me at home that night to check on me. The flap is healing fine. No infection and I can see just fine. I am really happy with it all. Thank you. read more

I cannot thank Dr. Patel enough for catching a serious eye disease that I was not aware of. If not for her catching the signs, I wouldn't have known that I could have gone blind if I didn't seek medical attention immediately. I took my husband to get Lasik to correct his -8.00 nearsightedness, and during the wait, I received a consultation myself. After some routine eye checking, Dr. Patel became concerned about my eye health. Granted, she was only doing a Lasik evaluation to see if I'm a good candidate, but she quickly put that aside and gave me a thorough checkup after seeing abnormalities in my eye. She was so concerned, she even called an ophthalmologist on my behalf (under my insurance plan) and urged them to see me immediately. I saw an ophthalmologist a few days later and discovered that I needed to do a procedure right away to prevent the loss of my vision. It was scary to think I could have lost my eyesight-- I have never even heard of this eye disease (CNVM) before that silently takes your vision away. So, I'm going to get preachy and tell everyone to get their eyes checked regularly. I was lucky Dr. Patel was diligent and cared enough to urge me to follow up on it. She quite literally saved my vision! I can't thank her enough for her thoroughness and professionalism. If I am a candidate in the future, (currently am not because of my condition) I will definitely go to this Lasik center because I know she will provide the best follow-up care and that she genuinely cares about my eye health. As for my husband who did Lasik with Dr. Eugene Smith, he was able to walk out of the laser center immediately following surgery. Very sun sensitive and said he experienced burning in the eyes after the numbing medicine went away about 30 min. after procedure, but he is happy with the results and sees 20/15 a day after surgery. read more

I can't believe I waited to so long to finally have my Lasik surgery done. Throughout the years, I thought about doing it but I let my fears get the best of me. Dr. Eugene Smith and his staff are truly amazing. The surgery only lasts 15 minutes and through it all I didn't experience any pain. When preparing for the lasik surgery, there will be minor pressure applied to each eye to hold it in place but that was the worst part. The pressure lasts 30 seconds and I appreciated the doctor counting down to relieve any fears I had. Within minutes of the surgery I could tell my vision drastically changed for the better. My procedure was completed by 8am on 3/29/18. From 8:30 am-11:15am I slept because it is best to rest your eyes as your eyes are going to feel aggravated but after that I was completely fine. I even attended a business lunch at a restaurant at noon and my eyes didn't water or itch at all. Upon my follow up check up, I was told I now have 20/15 !!!!! As a mom of 2 small children that are used to constantly breaking my glasses, hurting the bridge of my nose with daily headbuts.. I couldn't be happier with my results. This was the best decision of my life! I have never been able to see this clearly with glasses or contacts. It is an amazing feeling to wake up in the morning and be able to see right away with out having to fumble around for glasses. The entire staff is very professional and so nice. The most fun medical environment I have ever been to. I was made to feel so comfortable as soon as I walked in and all of my anxiety/ nerves eased almost instantly. I was running late and they still took me in no problem and with welcoming energy. I would beyond recommend Brittany and China to work with you for whatever you need because they are completely knowledgeable about any questions or concerns you may have and answer them with enthusiasm.
