Today I had my eyelashes done for the first time and I was very nervous at first since I am uncomfortable with people touching me in general. For those of you who don't know the process, it is when fake lashes are placed upon your natural lashes with a strong adhesive. Alexandra, Alex for short, was so gentle and friendly! We talked the entire time and she made two hours go by like nothing. It was a very personal experience and she really made me feel like I was at a friends house hanging out. Simply put: ALEX IS AMAZING! I had eyelash extensions done before, but was less than happy with the final result. The beautician used very long lashes, which didn't work out well for my eye type. The irony, right? The curl was way too droopy and made me look half-asleep. I was worried about trying extensions again, but am so glad I did with Alex. Her lash extensions skill is A++. Waking up to my perfectly curled, thick lashes is a dream come true, all thanks to Alex! Alex genuinely wants you to be happy with your lashes; the girl takes a lot of pride in her work. She offers different types of extension sets depending on the look you're going for. I was really tempted to get the Mink set but wasn't sure if the length would work out. Alex was super sweet and offered to do a test trial so she put a few on. I can't thank her enough for this, because the trial showed that same issue again where the lashes were too long and made me look sleepy. So I ended up getting the normal lashes, which have a perkier curl, but are still super long and full. Love, love, love these. During the entire process, Alex is incredibly thoughtful and thorough. Afterwards, she curled them gently with a heated eyelash curler and even gave me a complimentary mascara wand for maintenance. It's so helpful in the mornings and make sure your lashes keep in shape. I had been hesitant about getting my lashes done because the first time I had them done somewhere else and it was terrible but after Alex did my lashes I was addicted! She does a wonderful job and is a great listener too! Update: I have tried different lash bars since Alex wasn't around and they were terrible! I will never go to anyone else to do my lashes again! I now live 7 hours from her and will still drive to get my lashes done by her. She is so friendly and its therapeutic to be able to talk to her during our sessions. Unlike many other lash bars, she focuses on doing quality work and not how much time she spends on you. I've been to lash bars that stopped filling my lashes after 90minutes and my lashes were uneven. Alex however, always gets all my lashes and it is always wonderful. They are both hilarious and soooo nice, it feels like hanging out and chatting with a friend rather than an "appointment". Before coming to Alex, I used to get extensions all the time from an another place in Haymarket, but afterwards I'd be left with damaged lashes- short, stubby, and bare. I had my first eyelash appointment with Alexandra and I'm so glad I scheduled it with her! I wasn't really sure what to expect, but she and guided me through the process. My lashes are naturally short, straight, and thin and you can't really see them at all. I wanted longer, fuller lashes, but I didn't want something immediately noticeable so Alexandra chose a thinner type of lash for me. My sister wanted something more dramatic than an everyday look, and Alexandra chose thicker extensions for her. I really appreciate that she took the time to help me get the exact type of look I wanted. She answered all my questions and more - the lashes are waterproof, last for a few weeks before needing touch ups (mine were less full, but still looking great after a month), and should not be touched (no more rubbing your eyes - crazy important, because this loosens the extensions). The whole process took a little less than 2 hours and it definitely didn't feel that long because Alexandra was good company, but still very professional. She was gentle with my eyelashes, checking if I was comfortable lying down and asking me if the adhesive felt too hot. After the extensions were done, she gave me a blank mascara wand to comb out my lashes as needed. And they looked great - definitely fuller while still looking natural.
