After many years of business, Lash Cosmo now has it's very own commercial space in downtown Bethesda and it's beautiful. There's a waiting area with a coffee bar, a reception desk and two beds behind glamorous sheer curtains where your lashes will be done. Additionally, despite being in downtown Bethesda, the location allows for easy street parking or garage parking just across the street. Jin has always been so warm, communicative and professional so nothing has changed there. And if you're a fan of her dog like I am, you'll be happy to know you still might get to see him as well. I purchased a Groupon and tried this place out. The studio is girly, chic, and beautiful on the inside. Upon walking in, the woman at the front desk greeted me and had me fill out a questionnaire in a timely manner. The eyelash extensions itself didn't take very long- I was in and out in an hour. I've received extensions in the past and they've always taken minimum an hour so I was pretty surprised she finished so quickly. The adhesive glue used did have a harsher smell than previous studios, but not the biggest deal. A few lashes fell off within the first day, but most stayed on for about 2 weeks before it started looking sparse. I wouldn't come back to the studio or recommend it without a Groupon or some type of deal. read more

Thanks to fellow Yelpers, I found Jin of Lash Cosmo... Environment: conveniently located near the beltway, Takoma Park exit, off of New Hampshire. There are ample parking at the residential location. Once, you arrived, you might get greeted by a cute dog - no worries, he does not bite. He's just very excited to see you! Inside is clean with a touch of glam. Beware, that memory mattress will knock you to sleep! Service: I bought the Cosmopolitan and it took about 2 hours: Jin will ask you what you are looking for ie. natural look, fuller look etc. Fill-ins are about 1hr and 30 minutes, give or take. Jin is a pro and friendly. She pays attention to her craft and never once I feel like she is rushing you out, just like in a salon. Additional Info: the website and the online appointment app is very convenient and user-friendly. Jim is very nice and personable, but all of my lashes fell out after using her for less then two months. I knew something was wrong when they started coming out in clumps, so I went to another highly regarded provider to get them removed. She took a picture of my lashes and showed me that four or five lashes were clumped together with one lash on top, when it's supposed to be one lash extension on one lash. She also told me the amount of glue on my lashes was ridiculous. Because of all the glue and all the lashes bunched together, my lashes are now gone. It looks like they were waxed off. I have so few lashes that I couldn't even have extensions put on. Hundreds of dollars spent on a service that ended up costing me my lashes. Also, it shouldn't hurt to have lash extensions put on, but I felt like I was having my lashes ripped apart and pulled at during my appointments. That should've been the first sign. I really hate to leave a bad review, but what happened to me was not ok. read more

I found Jin on YELP! and I am so glad I found her. She is so sweet and friendly and her dog is adorable. She is a perfectionist and does her job very well. She is also $100 cheaper than other lash experts and the quality is by far amazing and the best I have seen thus far. Most importantly, these lashes are very light and not heavy on my eyelids, which is a plus. Please come and see Jin and stay away from the nail salons for lashes. I started going to Jin for a "Lush" set of lash extensions in June, which I've since been refilling every 3-4 weeks with either Jin or Lydia. The extensions make enough of an impact without overwhelming my eyes, and I've never left an appointment feeling any pain. The experience is pretty relaxing, although Jin is more than willing to make "girl talk" with you if you want. COVID protocols are also quite thorough. I recently got individual lashes done for the first time, Kishawn the artist there was informative, punctual, polite, and professional. She explained the process, each step before she proceeded with each action, and did a great job. We all love it when as soon as you get in the chair you know that you're in good hands-- that's what it's like with her! After loving my lashes and about 3-4 weeks I made an appointment and came in for a refill. My appointment was for 1:15 and I arrived a few minutes late around 1:25/30 which worked out well as she was finishing another customer. The owner quickly approached, greeted me, asked if I was new, and offered me tea/coffee. I waited about 5 min for Kishawn to finish up. When she did and I saw the customer before me emerge she looked amazing! I had a lot of questions for Kishawn, (what kind of lash was used for that look, etc). I'd let her know I wanted to use a groupon. Unbeknownst to me you can only use a Groupon coupon once per customer (which I used for my first visit). Kishawn warmly explained that per the policy, I wouldn't be able to use a Groupon. I really valued her expertise and service and didn't mind paying full price. I asked Kishawn a few follow up questions just to understand the cost for full price. She was in the middle of explaining the price for services before taking me back when the owner yelled from the back, "WE HAVE BACK TO BACK CUSTOMERS TODAY WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG?" How rude!!! Mind you, this is the same woman that greeted me and asked ME to wait as they were behind when I walked in. I responded "I'm trying to decide what I want to get" - expecting to get some form of an apology. I'd never had to wait for service then been rushed like this. SO RUDE. No apology, no anything, she just said "ok". At that point it was clear that this owner did not value my time, or me as a customer. I decided to cancel on the spot and go elsewhere. KISHAWN - you should get out of that shop before she runs away your clientele. I know you would never yell across the shop at one of her customers to hurry up- it's a shame she doesn't extend that courtesy to you. Happy to visit you for services if you decide to leave that shop. I won't be spending a DIME where I'm yelled at and rushed. To be clear, this was not about a voucher or Groupon rules. I had no issue paying full price for services (rules are rules, and Kishawn is so good it's definitely worth the price). The issue was the lack of professionalism and literally being yelled at from across the salon by the owner. It was rude, and was unwarranted. I literally was being yelled at by the owner as I'd just determined with the tech Kishawn the appropriate style I wanted to get. She literally yelled at us to hurry up AS we were turning to head back to get started. How insulting! read more

Attention to detail and patience are crucial when it comes to your lashes. I love getting my lashes done by Jin. After the first time, I kept coming back for more - and still do. It's great to just wake-up-and-go some mornings - the lashes make such a huge difference. I have very short and thin lashes, but not after Jin gets through with them. I have gotten so many compliments on my eyes, shhh! I never tell the men... Jin has a wonderful array of different types and lengths. She listens and creates a natural look for your preference. I like to have fuller lashes that fan out the most at the edges, although we have also done the center. She has silk ones that feel amazingly natural and light. However, I still like the traditional ones because they are a bit thicker. I can hardly wait for my next appointment for refill because I want to try the mink ones next. I take care of my lashes by trying to wash around them and I listen to Jin's directions to not get them wet for the first 48 hours. Tried this place out since they had a Groupon deal. Was my first time getting lash extensions. The salon was cute and clean. I got the 'lush' lashes service and Jin was my technician. I think she did a good job, but she talked way too much. I thought getting lash extensions was supposed to be relaxing, most people I know who had them said they fell asleep during. I had a long week, and had an event to go to after my lash appointment, so I was really looking forward to relaxing a little. She is very friendly and personable, but the constant chit chat was super annoying and I think it took away from the experience for me. I didn't come for girl talk, but maybe others do and enjoy it. My lash extensions are natural looking, but I prefer them more full. I wish I had asked to upgrade to the 'doll' lashes, that might have been more of the look I was going for. They don't really pop. Nobody noticed and I didn't get any compliments. When I told my friends I got me lashes done, they said 'Really?? Let me see??!' And stared at me with squinty eyes trying to figure out what I meant by 'lashes done' I guess lol! My friend said she preferred my strips better, they make my eyes pop more. I kind of agree, but I guess I can wear mascara for a thicker, longer look. It was a nice service for the deal I got, but I would have been pissed at paying almost $300 full price for the results I got. I will probably get lash extensions again, but go somewhere where I can get them at the fullness I like for a more affordable price. Edited to add that it is less than two weeks later, half of them have fallen out and they look very sparse, and I think I'm having some kind of allergic reaction to the adhesive. Both my upper and lower lashline (which is weird because I only got extensions on the upper lashes) are extremely itchy and slightly swollen. My eyes also burn every time my lashes get wet in the shower. I am not blaming the lash tech, it is probably a chemical in the adhesive I'm sure almost all salons use, but I'm a little pissed I paid for lashes when they're almost gone not even 14 days later, and I'll probably need to take an antihistamine to get my skin back normal. I'm all about aZn PrYdE but the one thing that I have to complain about (besides our inability to digest lactose) is our spare, thin, and stick straight lashes. When I had heard that several of my coworkers were dabbling in the world of lash extensions, I was simultaneously horrified and intrigued. But the proof is in the pudding: having thicker, fuller, lashes instantly makes you look more wide-eyed and awake. For eight months I toyed back and forth with the idea and finally decided to bite the bullet. After getting my first full set of Xtreme lashes at another salon, I decided to get relashed by Jin at Tara L's recommendation. Even though I had to travel state lines to visit her (only a quick 35 minutes from Arlington plus there's a Ren's Ramen nearby), I definitely know that I will become a long time customer. Here is why: + Online booking - So, so, so necessary + Bright and Airy Modern Studio - The space is located in her apartment but it is tastefully decorated and very clean. The last place I went too seemed a little bit crowded and hectic so this was very appreciated. + Memory Foam Bed - So comfy! I was surprised how easily I zoned out. + Technique + Quality Products - Jin was as patient as can be to provide me with a look that I loved. Her glue is formaldehyde-free which is a must for me and the lashes she used (Novalash) were a lot lighter and softer than the Xtreme lashes I had used in the past. They also seem to last longer and I am able to easily glide eyeliner on my eyes if I want to play up my look a bit (something that I was unable to do in the past). + Pricing - Lash extensions are an investment since you have to go back every three weeks. I am happy to report that her pricing is about $10 - $20 less than other eyelash services in the area. ....and as a bonus. Puppies!!! Still need more convincing? 1) Jin is one of the more affordable lash stylists in the area - my full set was $160+tip compared to the ridiculous $300+ that other places charge. Jin is meticulous, really friendly, and so good at what she does. Being that this was my first time, I wasn't sure what kind of lashes I wanted - there were so many options! Jin took the time to show me different examples from her past work and talked to me about my lifestyle and what would work best with my eyes. After an hour and a half of talking to her like she was one of my best girlfriends, Jin was done and I looked fabulous. My lashes are a bit longer than what I'm used to but they look so good!
