We have been coming to Las Rocas for years and have always had great food and excellent service, which is why tonight's experience was so disappointing. Our server, who has been there for years, was unusually inattentive, and we felt completely overlooked throughout the evening. We came in to celebrate our brother-in-law's birthday, but after waiting at least 25-30 minutes for our food, it still never arrived. During that time, our server never checked in on us, which was very frustrating and unacceptable. Eventually, we asked for our order to simply be canceled. What made the experience even more disappointing was the lack of apology or any effort to make the situation right. I've only order the "side of rice." I've had notice that the portions have been way SMALLER than usual. Not only that I went TWICE and the plate is HOT but the rice is COLD AS ICE!!!!!!! First time at the restaurant. We went during lunch time around 11:45 am. We were kindly greeted and sat down in a booth. As we were looking through the menu, the waiter came by three time asking for our order. We just weren't ready but we were fretting with our drinks beverage and delicious chip and salsa. The restaurant is small but they do provide outdoor seating. We finally ordered and the food was tasty and delicious. The perfect temperature. Always excellent! The tortilla soup is the BEST. Service is great. Our family favorite.

We have eaten here many times before and usually are complementary of the service and the food. However, last Friday night, we came here with friends and did not have exceptional food or service. I fully realize that there may be some adjustments to be made as they have recently expanded. Some of our food was served, barely warm and finding our waitress when we needed something was very difficult. My wife said we're never coming back here again, but I believe in time she might be convinced to go back and give it another try. read more

We've made this our go-to place over the years- but over the last three trips since they remodeled- we are moving on to The enchiladas are flat- like someone stepped on them (very little filler) and the tortillas are soggy- they don't cook them like you should. The runny beans, sauce and flat enchilada is just a complete killer. The margarita- no taste of tequila and no effect with super sweet margarita mix They used to have the best margaritas. I got a pollo burrito with guacamole on side. The teaspoon of this guacamole "mix" didn't go far but had good taste. The burrito - a burrito lovers NIGHTMARE. Only the runny beans and cheese for half- very little chicken, and then the chicken was piled on one side. Mediocre taste at best. We're gonna move on and come back sometime in the future. We are big fans of another local Mexican restaurant. But we've heard a lot of good reviews for Las Rocas so we decided it was time to give it a try. We ordered take out. We got: The Fajitas Especial - We for the one person version and it was enough to share with 2 people. However there were only a few pieces of each type of meat. The meat seasoned ok, but I would've preferred a little more salt. There were plenty of veggies (zucchini, bell peppers, tomatoes and onions) that could've used more salt as well. Cheese Enchilada Combo - Again this was a good portion. I wasn't a fan of the cheese though. It almost had a processed taste. The beans were seasoned well though, and the rice had a good texture. Complimentary chips and salsa - The salsa was spicy. I could handle it, but my husband said it smelled too spicy for him. The chips were fresh and crispy. Overall I'd say that the food is really solid. But I think I'm still prefer the other restaurant just a bit more. I'll have to give it a couple more tries though. read more

Family favorite! Food and service is always excellent. Love ordering the delicious steak fajitas! So good!!

First off...I have been a loyal customer to Las Rocas since it opened. I grew up in Castaic. The town is very family oriented and we take pride in our town and the people that have businesses. During the pandemic, I ordered all the time. I made sure I did my part to assist with making sure all my favorite restaurants wouldn't go under because of all the bad that was going on. When I found out from the owner that they were expanding, I was so excited and happy for them. Immediately booked a party of 16 for my husband's 50th Birthday. We arrived and everything went great. I ran into Maria and congratulated her on the reopening. The staff was great and so helpful with the party. I bought 2 cakes and they stored them for us at no cost and even brought out plates and a knife to use when we were done singing happy Birthday. Throughout the night we ordered Margaritas, beers, food, and more. The bill came and we PAID. After the bill was returned.. my cousin was like wait.. there's 2 extra drinks that were charged. That's when we noticed that we were over charged for 2 additional margaritas. Now I know...2 drinks.. no big deal, but I'm a big person on principle. So, we disputed the bill with our waiter. That nice waiter at the beginning was no longer the same person. Immediately he had an attitude and became incredibly argumentative. One of our guests that is a family friend had bought me and my husband a round of drinks. She ordered and paid for them at the bar as a surprise. The bar brought them over. These two drinks were included on our bill as well but our family friend was holding the receipt and talking to the waiter in Spanish. This is where I got upset. The waiter was becoming so argumentative and talking to a woman in such a disrespectful way. I'm like.. buddy.. who are you? Don't talk like that to a woman that is explaining to you. I told him I didn't want to deal with him after watching that display.. so I asked for the manager. Maria walked over and I thought okay good the voice of reason has arrived. I was wrong. She immediately sided with the waiter.. not even knowing what happened. Instead she responded.. we don't charge for margaritas that we don't make. I told her.. check your cameras. Your waiter is saying i drank 3 margaritas and that my husband did as well.. that didn't happen. We each had 2. And had proof. The waiter said that he counted glasses. We said you can't count glasses.. we had others that ordered drinks from the bar and brought them over here. He again argued with our other guest all while the manager stood there. This was handled so poorly. I repeated multiple times to watch the cameras.. she didn't. She then walked away with the bill and with our waiter. He returned with one copy of our old bill and a copy of the new bill. He said.. here.. the 2 were taken off and then threw it on the table and walked away. It was at that moment that I took the other copy of the signature part of the bill... and changed the tip and left the new amount. I was not about to keep the 25% tip I originally placed and reward that kind of behavior. So... this left such a bad taste in my mouth..I will no longer return A party of 16...14 of which are of legal drinking age and locals are no longer going to come to your restaurant and deal with that kind of behavior. We live in a day and age where you have to be on point at all times. We have bad days... all of us do.. but that doesn't give you a pass to be poor to your patrons. A business is only as good as their worst employee. So for now... I'm backing away from being Team Las Rocas. SCV has over 100 Mexican restaurants... they are a dime a dozen...I hope that what happened to Sisley after their expansion doesn't happen to Las Rocas. Work on your employees attitude and you as a manager need to work on that as well. The customer may not be right in every situation, but to reveal true colors over $30 dollars and lose one of your biggest supporters speaks volumes about you as a business person and your values. Be better and do better. Maybe one day we will come back. For now.. I'll spend elsewhere. read more

Las Rocas food is usually good, but not today. I ordered grilled vegetables but they were steamed. Also, there was a maggot in my broccoli. I understand bugs are around produce all of the time, but I don't appreciate going to a restaurant and finding a maggot in my food. Actually wrote this review on April 1, 2024, but only now getting it posted. After seeing all the positive reviews, we decided to give this restaurant a try. Sadly, we were disappointed. While the service was excellent and prompt, the food overall was unremarkable. The chips put on the table were quite ordinary, like out of a bag, including a sprinkling of red and green chips, obviously the result of food coloring. The salsa set on the table was overly spicy for our gringo tastebuds. Our waiter was kind enough to bring us a dish of less spicy sauce, but it wasn't pico de gallo; rather it was liquid-y with no texture. I ordered a blended margarita and it seemed to be mostly ice -- very little flavor and very little tequila. For dinner, I tried a combination plate with a beef enchilada and a chili relleno. The relleno was well prepared, with lots of cheese. The rest of the food on the plate was quite bland. My husband ordered a chimichanga, and his response was similar to mine. read more

Excellent food, excellent service, exceptional portions.. my husband and I ordered the Especial Fijitas. We thought it would be on 1 plate. Nope we each got a plate of shrimp, chicken, excellent steak peppers and onions for get this. $38.99. We also each received a plate of refried beans w with cheese, rice, Pico deguio and guacamole. Our taco and enchiladas could have used a little more spice but were good. And for it to have been 1:45 in the afternoon during the week this place was relatively busy. Stopped in after church on a Sunday. Would give them 10 stars. Service was amazing. Very clean nice restaurant great bar area to watch the game (we did) food was AMAZING. Fresh hot that real homemade taste. Chips and salsa were amazing chips warm and fresh salsa cold and flavorful. My chicken enchiladas was so packed with shredded chicken I ended up sharing it(which I normally never share food) the asada tacos and burritos were packed with flavorful tender carne. This place was an out of the park walk off grand slam. Looking forward to coming back. Nice outdoor patio. Nice indoor bar lots of beers on tap they even had LALO tequila which I never see anywhere. Just wanted to tell you about a sad incident that happened last weekend at las rocas restaurant. We have been going there for years. As many of you know they just did a big expansion so when we had a birthday dinner coming up for 16 of us we thought it would be nice to go there. We booked the reservation and went. Everything was great until we got the bill. We saw that we had been charged twice for drinks that had originally been ordered at the bar directly. When we told the waiter he became very defensive and said we were wrong. We tried to explain to him he argued with us. We finally asked to speak to the owner who came over. Now mind you we have spoken to her several times on nights we have gone there. Always had a nice conversation. My son even complimented her on the new addition that night when we arrived. She basically took the side of the waiter and argued with us about the charge. The waiter argued with my niece's mother in law who in fact had purchased 2 of the drinks at the bar herself. It got very ugly. In the end she took the drinks off but never came back to the table. The waiter came back and literally threw the bill at us. He walked away. Needless to say we will not be going back. We have lived in castaic for over 40 years and we want to support our castaic businesses. However i cannot overlook this. The total take off of the bill was 50.00 at best. To treat a loyal patron who has never complained is not acceptable. As we all know there are a ton of Mexican restaurants in this valley. We will now go there. It is a sad situation. Businesses need to know that mistreatment will no longer be accepted. This is why they in the end they sometimes fail. I was in the mood for a good burrito so I did what every red-blooded hungry gringo does...I asked the lovely waitress which burrito was the local's favorite. Hands down, The CARNE ASADA BURRITO. Man, was it good! Juicy, tender and sporting lifelike seasoning. I could not finish it! And just like that I was relegated to the walk of shame...having to carry it out of the restaurant in its little styrofoam coffin to my vehicle for consumption at a later time. (the crowd in my mind was hissing and booing at my defeat) Lots of very comfortable outdoor seating around the mirthful fountain with festive Mexican music kept the joint lively and fun, despite covid.
