Clean comfortable hotel. Great little cafe that includes breakfast in morning. The wait is a little long but worth it. Also free beagles, juice and coffee in case you are in a rush.

Gross, neglected fountain on the property grounds

Maybe the employee who assisted me with checking out did not feel the need to ask about my (three-night) stay because she already knew what I would say: that the showerhead in my room dripped loudly & incessantly (which was more than just a little annoying). She knew I was going to say this because when I began to talk about it, she completed my sentence and said they (the staff) were aware of it, and that there was a plumbing issue that needed addressing. Despite this, they still rented the room to me without a discount, disclaimer, or preemptive apology. Had the employee demonstrated a modicum of interest in my experience, I may have also mentioned my disappointment in the odd, unpleasant smell in the room; the lack of lighting in the kitchen / dining area; the neglected fountain clogged with yard debris & garbage; and, disturbingly, the unflushed toilet paper I found in the toilet upon checking in, which made me wonder just how well the room had been cleaned prior to my arrival.

It was my mistake that I booked the wrong month and it happened to be the same exact days in February and March. When I realized this checking the man at the front could be less helpful about it. Said thy would upgrade us for the same room but at 300 more than I originally paid. We were with another couple and sharing a car so another hotel was not on option. To start not a lot of parking on the other side of the hotel where we stayed. Second the noise from the other room made us move the bed to the middle of the room for our entire stay. And the last was the all night road work and noise on our last day there with no warning the workers said they gave the hotel. Oh the best part was the hanging used towels on the back of our bathroom door checking in. We were going to talk to the guy at the front desk when we left but it was the same guy we had checking in so I knew he would not be helpful at all!! So many other places that would have been better than this place. I have attached pics of the bathroom in our upgraded room. Spend your money to stay somewhere/anywhere else in Santa Fe!!!

Excellent experience. We stayed 4 nights in #9 and loved it. Gorgeous, full unit with a kitchen, bathroom, tv, armoire, fireplace, and private patio. Complimentary breakfast every morning. Loved the blue corn pancakes with a chai the most. Very beautiful and romantic.

We had a wonderful stay at Las Palomas. Located just on the edge of historic downtown, this inn takes up a whole street corner with multiple buildings, some of which date back to the 1890s. It's an easy walk to the Plaza and many other attractions and restaurants. The rooms are decorated in an authentic southwest style and have all the amenities you will need. They serve a delicious breakfast each morning with 5 options to choose from, and it is included with your stay. Front desk service is very friendly and informative. This is a perfect place to stay while exploring Santa Fe.

Incredible hotel with the friendliest staff! Great location, beautiful HUGE rooms, private and quiet and yet close to everything downtown. Fireplace in our room was amazing. Out complimentary breakfast was also out of this world good! We tried many things but the burrito, Christmas style was incredibly delicious! We will be back! We loved the hotel, the decor, the art, the delicious deserts at night and the beautiful lighting on the grounds. Just magical!

Lovely Entrance all decorated up for Christmas :)

We just had another wonderful stay here. We always love staying here it's such a unique place. When we arrived the man at the front gave us two bundles of wood for the fireplace. When we got to our room there was also fresh wood in the fireplace already. We always like to stay here bc we do like to make a little fire it's always so romantic. However, this time the fireplace was not cleaned properly & it smoked us out. We had to put the fire out & air out the room, as we were not able to have a fire. We found the grounds, room, service to be in its usually orderly fashion, however, the fireplace needed a good cleaning we were not able to have a fire which was the whole reason for staying at this hotel. Attention management: "During the winter months you have to keep ALL the maintenance up, especially the fireplaces. We were very disappointed that we were not able to have a fire bc the fireplace needed a cleaning." Hubby and I just decided to leave early & drive back home as we had other pressing engagements. We were told the breakfast started at 7 and indeed it did, right on time. We were the first ones at brekkie, we grabbed a couple of fresh made to order Cappuccinos to go and loaded up a cup of fresh cut up fruit to go. They were both super delicious. Thank you for the wonderful brekkie. Please clean the fireplaces. Will update my review accordingly.

This was the cutest bed and breakfast ever, so unique and cozy! Each night comes with complementary breakfast and a drink. The food was amazing its not just a regular hotel buffet, you get to order from their stacked menu. Highly reccomend staying here if you are in town, the staff was super friendly as well!

We really enjoyed our stay even if it was for just a night. We had a king suit. Very spacious. They serve breakfast with juices and coffee in the morning and they have fresh cookies in the evening. Very nice touch! The people there were friendly and accommodating. Our room wasn't ready by 4 but we just walked downtown. Great location only a 5 min walk to shops and restaurants. The only not so great thing about this place was the actual mattress. It literally sunk in the middle. I'd come back and ask for a different room next time. If we stayed more than a night I would have asked. Other than that we loved it.

This place was perfect for my stay in Santa Fe. Check in was easy, even if my room wasn't ready til 5 or so when the place wasn't at full capacity but that was most likely because I asked for a room with a tub and a fireplace. (They have very few tubs) Nobody called to tell me it was ready so I had to call and ask but when I got there I found my bags (three heavy ones) were placed in my room for me I had an issue with the air and the fireplace and called the front desk who said he'd come in about an hour to check it out. I wanted to go get dinner, after a 7hour flight and no food, so I stayed that was unacceptable and if they didn't work I wasn't staying in that room. He and maintenance came quickly and figured out the AC remote needed new batteries and the pilot for the fireplace need to be relit. Thanks guys!! It was so peaceful and quiet there. With no maid service u less requested (covid and all) there were no maids banging on doors around the room The room had everything I needed. Glasses, tea, coffee, fridge, microwave, a deep tub, soft pillows. I slept like a baby. There's free full breakfast everyday. I didn't try it as Im not an early eater but I sure enjoyed the hot chocolate ,tea and cappuccino. Check out was a breeze. Everyo e is very friendly here. The artwork around the grounds is eclectic and lovely to see. Super close walking to distance to where you want to be and an adorable piano bar right down the street where the locals go. I'll be back!

Inn of the Governors - 2 bed room

Inn of the Governors

(221 reviews)

My travel companion and I recently spent two nights at the Inn of the Governors in Santa Fe in…read moreearly September, and it was a fantastic experience. This independent hotel is an older, yet well-maintained property. It offers a slightly less luxurious experience compared to some of the more upscale lodging options in the Santa Fe Plaza area, but its charm, location, perks, and value make it an excellent choice. The Inn of the Governors is located just a few very walkable blocks from the Plaza, the New Mexico state capitol building, and downtown's main cultural and historic sites. What really sets this property apart from other local options are the stellar hospitality and thoughtful amenities. Every morning begins with a free cooked-to-order breakfast in the hotel's on-site restaurant from 630am til 1030am featuring traditional favorites like eggs and pancakes as well as excellent New Mexican specialties like huevos rancheros. On-site parking is free -- a valuable perk in downtown Santa Fe where parking can be $30-50/night -- and the exceptionally friendly staff hosts a daily happy hour from 4pm to 5pm with complimentary sherry, hot herbal tea, and New Mexico's traditional biscochito cookies. Our room's traditional New Mexican decor and furnishings were starting to show their age, but they were clean and well maintained. My room featured a large LED TV with plenty of content, a reasonable workspace with easy-to-connect WiFI, and individual HVAC controls that made it easy to manage the temperature during the night. The room was also equipped with a small refrigerator as well as a single-serve coffee maker with four pods. The bathroom had plenty of space on the vanity for my personal hygiene items. If you're deciding on room options, the 'deluxe' rooms in the main building are well worth considering - especially during cooler weather - because they feature Kiva-style wood-burning fireplaces for guests' use. Given the age of the property, this hotel would typically earn a 3- or 4-star rating, but everything else about our experience easily warrants my rounding up to a 5-star rating. PRO TIP: Book directly through the hotel's website. Guests who book directly (rather than through an online travel agent -- offering the same nightly rates) receive a $15 per night credit for their on-site restaurant, Del Charro. Unlike typical hotel dining, Del Charro's prices are very reasonable with entrees ranging from $9 to $20 and they don't hit guests with an automatic 20-25% service charge.

And they didn't hv any 2 bed rooms available. So I found this place And in that week between Christmas and New Year's we still wanted to catch the Christmas lights and farolitos And if you too are about location, location, location This was perfect If you've ever had to drive to Santa Fe, you know that parking can be a bear -- and it was, with a lot of the main streets blocked off in anticipation of NYE celebrations. The hotel is actually quite a large, sprawling complex, much deeper that what might be assumed when pulling in. We got there mid-afternoon so could park rt in front of our first floor room. I hadn't even thought about that but my creaky knees were happy and quite relieved to only hv to haul my wee bag up 7 steps or so. Check in was easy, if a bit crowded, as a lot of regulars like to show up a bit early too. The doorman was a very polite young man and everyone made us feel welcome. The older gentleman at the counter was a font of information And made sure we knew abt the Happy Hour Short and sweet Whatever you do: try the biscochitos! (The official NM state cookie, fyi - for a reason - when done right, and these definitely are!) Everything was very clean Even with all the Christmas decorations and greenery out There's an excellent restaurant on site And when they say there's "a bit of a kick", and shd you be a wuss like me, order the spicy on the side. Staff was very considerate abt this. And breakfast is pretty good too! And it was so easy to walk to everything, stuff I usually don't get to see bc I'm usually on the other side of town. All in all, a lovely stay

Overall, I would tag this direct experience as hit or miss. Hits: The valet staff (I hope they are LaFonda and not contracted out by a separate company with LaFonda shirts) was awesome. A lot of work on these folks with a lot of people coming in and out of the property, yet they consistently were professional, efficient and polished in their communication with us. Valet staff was great. Bartenders were equally awesome. Very friendly, very professional, can put up a nice conversation. When one saw I was nursing my cucumber cocktail, he offered to throw some club soda in to cut the sweetness. Brilliant. Very much on point without missing a beat. Gave us tons of recommendations for dinner and we jumped on them thanks to his endorsements. Location was decent. Right in the middle of town so you can easily walk anywhere you wish and everything is right there. Quick shout out when it gets crowded, IT GETS CROWDED downtown so understand there may be a slight pause when times are extra busy. Misses: Our room didn't have AC when we arrived. We connected with the front desk twice to be told "someone is on their way" and it was a lie. No one ever showed. We roasted. My husband was kind enough to purchase two mini fans to help ease the discomfort and yet we would get virtual texts daily from some Ivy person informing us when she was signing off and how to reach the front desk over night with a "sweet dreams" close every night which honestly, was gross. No one helped us with our asks for help. First full day of our stay we asked for housekeeping with the tag on our door. We left early. Came back late afternoon no housekeeping. I flagged the housekeeper down on our floor just two rooms away and she told me there was no time and she was NOT cleaning our room. I asked for verification if this was her message and she confirmed yes, she was NOT cleaning our room never mind the sign on the door for the request. Back to the front desk and they called a supervisor who I hope helped out and the room got clean. I have NEVER had a housekeeper tell me to my face she refuses to perform the essential function of her job. My guess is they are very short staffed and while unfortunate, should not be a direct impact to paying customers. The fitness room has an odor. The carpet is dirty. It's gross. We lasted maybe 30 min on Wednesday and couldn't take it. Clearly, the property hasn't invested in this space. Front desk you MAY get a good morning shout out as you walk by you may not. When we were checking in on Sunday and asking about housekeeping the one guy with fuzzy hair went into a long update about nightly turn downs which we did NOT ask about we were confirming we'd get housekeeping each day. Not sure what was not clear about that question. The second guy chimed in talking about highly turn downs based on room level. Again. We were asking about housekeeping. What wasn't clear about that simple question? We'll definitely return to Santa Fe. The people in this community are awesome very kind and gracious considering it's filled with tourists. As for this property, we're good. No need to stay here again. Too many misses and too little hits for the investment.

Drury Plaza Hotel in Santa Fe - Spacious bathroom

I have been coming to Santa Fe for more than 35 years, always staying at our family home. When that home was sold two years ago, this became the first time my husband and I needed to find a hotel for one of our visits. Because Santa Fe feels like a second home to us--and because we were returning to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary--I did a tremendous amount of research before booking. We chose the Drury Plaza Hotel because we wanted to be within easy walking distance of the historic Plaza while still receiving genuine value. The included breakfast and evening Happy Hour were major deciding factors. Happy Hour includes drinks and enough substantial food that it can easily serve as dinner after a full day of sightseeing, adding meaningful value to the stay. The location could not have been better. Each morning, I walked to the Plaza before my husband woke up, and we could hear the bells from the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. We also took several day trips to nearby areas, and the Drury was an ideal home base for everything we wanted to explore. We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days. The rooftop pool and Jacuzzi were another highlight. We enjoyed beautiful Santa Fe sunsets from the rooftop and returned later to soak in the Jacuzzi and gaze at the stars. Those quiet moments became some of our favorite memories from the trip. A pro tip for future guests: on the second floor, at the end of the hallway, there is a lovely "secret garden" lawn area with tables and chairs. Relatively few guests seem to know about it, but you can take your Happy Hour food and drinks outside and enjoy a peaceful setting away from the activity of the main hotel spaces. It was an unexpectedly blissful little retreat. As the former CEO of a destination event-planning business, I also paid attention to the hotel's conference rooms and event facilities. Any company or organization hosting a corporate meeting, retreat, or special event would likely find this property especially appealing. The combination of location, guest amenities, gathering spaces, and walkability makes it a strong option for groups wanting both convenience and an authentic Santa Fe experience. The hotel itself is lovely, welcoming, and exceptionally well positioned, but here is what other reviews may not fully capture: the staff is everything. They are the true difference-makers. We were told that employees are hired, in part, because they genuinely enjoy people, and that quality is evident in every interaction. The front desk staff looked up, made eye contact, and greeted us whenever we passed rather than remaining focused solely on their computer screens. The valet team warmly welcomed us each time we returned. Angela was especially warm and welcoming during Happy Hour. Jo made us feel genuinely special, while Josephine stood out for her calm, gracious leadership and her ability to remember and acknowledge us whenever we returned to the hotel. Marco and Angel were also superstars at the rooftop bar. The hotel proactively asks whether guests are celebrating anything, and the team actually pays attention to the response. We did not request anything special, yet we received a complimentary suite upgrade for our anniversary, along with a bottle of wine and a card signed by members of the staff. Those thoughtful touches meant a great deal to us. We also experienced a power outage during our stay, and that unexpected moment revealed just how well prepared the team was. Staff members were positioned at critical points throughout the building, calmly guiding guests, opening doors, and providing assistance. Service culture and training often reveal themselves most clearly when something does not go according to plan, and this team rose beautifully to the occasion. The Drury Plaza Hotel gave us the location, amenities, value, and atmosphere we were seeking, but the people are what made our anniversary stay truly memorable. After more than three decades of visiting Santa Fe, we are grateful to have found a hotel that now feels like part of our connection to the city. We will absolutely return.

The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. Service leaned a little on the slower side, but the warmth and attentiveness more than made up for it. The bed sits just inches from the toilet door, so unless you're unusually close with your travel companion, pack earplugs and a blindfold. Dust was caked into the corners, a dead bug was in the ripple of the vintage rug, and we were greeted by a dried booger on the bathroom door (seriously). The door frame lets light in, the floors creaked like a haunted house, and the entire layout felt like it was designed by someone who's never actually had to sleep there. There were no privacy blinds, only wooden shutters, and the artwork provided enough clutter to fill the room just in case you forgot your own luggage. Breakfast was the big show! Most of what we were served was delicious. For an extra $45 per person, you'll be given whatever the kitchen feels like making that morning... no choices, no allergy considerations, and not even a glass of water. Instead, you're handed an herbal infusion and expected to sip with gratitude while waiting 90 minutes for your dessert tart. But our group's disappointment simply must have meant we didn't understand the "magic" of the experience. In the end, Casa Culinaria is the kind of place that confuses ambiance with hospitality and is more interested in curating an image than creating a welcoming stay. If you're searching in Santa Fe for a splintering rocking chair, garden corners appropriate for Instagram, or even paying $340/night to be treated like an inconvenience... this is the winner! During our most recent stay, our vehicle was one of at least three that were broken into with many very large/heavy items stolen overnight while parked in the hotel's paid parking lot. The lack of security measures, whether cameras, patrols, or staff presence, was disappointing and left us feeling unsupported after the incident. What was even more frustrating was management's response. When the answer to multiple vehicle break-ins is as we were told by the GM - there's nothing we can do and that cameras don't deter theft or help identify thieves - it's time for us to stay somewhere else. We understand that crime can happen anywhere, but guests paying for parking should reasonably expect the property to take security seriously and make an effort to protect them. What makes this especially difficult is that we've always loved this property. The hotel has a historic charm, a great location that makes it easy to explore Santa Fe on foot, and while the rooms aren't luxury accommodations, they always felt comfortable and familiar - like a home away from home. Through the years, the staff has consistently been friendly and welcoming. That's what makes this review so disappointing to write. What was once a 5-star experience for our family has dropped to about a 3-star experience because we no longer feel confident that our vehicle and belongings are safe while staying here.
