There are private changing/shower rooms and the massage price includes unlimited time in the Grand Bath. Came in with kiddos. Made a reservation the moment the reservation opened. Kids can only visit with parents in private rooms. We came in a little early. Checked in, signed waivers, got 3 robes. We got private room 3. It comes with hot spring filled hot tub (jet set button is on the wall near the bench. Typical 15 min timer), tiny cold plunge, full bathroom (toilet, sink, shower) AND a private Sauna. Small indoor bed for rest with a big jar of ice water. On top of the indoor bed, it came with plenty of towels and slippers. It was private enough that we felt safe to be nude in the private space. We absolutely enjoyed the time here. Love the hot spring water. Love the sauna. The cold plunge is doing its thing. The view is soothing and you can smell the wood burning smell in the air. Somehow, it was incredibly grounding. When your 90 min is up. They give you a nice notice from the intercom. We went out shortly after and spend some time shopping at the gift store. Then walked over to the restaurant for our reservation. We would like to stay overnight here next time we are in town. There is no signal here and takes about 99 stairs to go up to the spa. They have a grand pool mineral spring with a cold plunge, sauna and omg the view, the surroundings, everything is perfect- all this is free for the day with any spa booking - they have a foot bath, changing rooms, showers Dyson blow dryers and a restaurant with happy hour from 3-5 daily. After having been here - and reading all the reviews on Yelp and Google - here's my assessment: people need to stop complaining! Ten Thousand Waves and the restaurant are amazing!!! I'm from California and love good quality food and this is it! For $89 I had a private tub all to myself for 90 mins, which included a cold plunge, sauna, private bathroom and even a bed to take a nap. Everything was super clean and peaceful, and staff are very kind. I took a Lyft there and back from Santa Fe and didn't have any problems. I am so grateful to God that I got a last minute reservation (their reservation system is updated in real time so just keep checking, which is what I did!). read more

We traveled to Santa Fe to attend an emergency medicine conference and, while researching accommodations in the area, were encouraged by the many favorable reviews of Ten Thousand Waves. We ultimately chose to stay at the resort for several nights with the expectation of enjoying a relaxing and restorative experience during our trip. The property itself is beautiful. The gardens are well maintained, and it is clear that significant thought and care have gone into cultivating a serene, American /Japanese-inspired atmosphere. Unfortunately, the level of service provided by the front desk staff did not reflect the standard of hospitality one would reasonably expect from a resort of this caliber. During our stay, we were required to relocate from one room to another. We were informed that we would need to vacate our current room and wait until 4:00 PM before checking into the new accommodation. I explained to the front desk staff that I had confidential work calls scheduled and could not conduct them from the spa area that had been suggested. I respectfully inquired whether housekeeping might be able to prioritize preparation of the new room so that I could continue working in a private setting. Regrettably, the staff did not appear to fully appreciate or accommodate the circumstances. Even after speaking with the front desk manager, Gregory, the response felt passive and dismissive. He stated that they would "try" to have the room ready earlier; however, there appeared to be little meaningful effort made to assist us. Guests can readily discern when their concerns are not being treated with appropriate seriousness, and the overall interaction came across as indifferent and somewhat unprofessional. A strong reputation and numerous positive reviews should not lead to complacency or diminished attentiveness to individual guest needs. Genuine hospitality is demonstrated through a hotel's willingness to respond thoughtfully and proactively when guests require assistance, flexibility, or understanding. It was disappointing to encounter this level of frustration during what was intended to be a relaxing vacation. Additionally, Gregory never followed up with an update regarding the room status, and at the time of writing this review, it was already 27 minutes past the stated 4:00 PM check-in time. One additional concern arose when I asked Byron at the front desk to assist with securing a dinner reservation. I was informed that the resort's only restaurant was closed for a private event, yet there had been no advance notice provided to hotel guests. I explained that my husband was attending the conference and that I did not have access to a vehicle to travel to restaurants outside the resort. Unfortunately, no meaningful alternatives or suggestions were offered. I then requested that Byron make a reservation for the following evening; however, an error was made in the booking time. Although I had requested a reservation for 6:45 PM, the reservation was entered into the system for 7:45 PM instead. Additionally, for guests hoping to dine with a sunset view, it is worth noting that the restaurant staff themselves informed me that the sunset is visible on the opposite side of the mountain. The front desk staff didn't know about that! The room is ok, the shower water pressure is weak, and the hotel room doesn't provide a safe for guests to store important items. Massage was ok, the communal bath area should have include "  please shower before you enter the pool " on the sign. Because at the peak time, there were more than 20 people there... After the series of incidents we experienced throughout our four-day stay, I do not believe the level of hospitality we encountered aligns with the reputation and acclaim Ten Thousand Waves has received. Overall, the experience was disappointing. read more

What an oasis! So fascinating knowing that this place is in Santa Fe and not in Japan. The facility was very clean and I enjoyed using their in house products as well. They smell great! Since we got Japanese facials we had unlimited time at the communal Grand Bath. All spa appointments get access to the Grand Bath however you can reserve private tubs/rooms as well. The property is sprawling with well manicured trees, plants and shrubs. You really feel like you're far away from any city. The waters were calming and hot, ice bath way too cold for me to handle. Likewise for the sauna-too hot for me to handle. The Japanese facial was excellent. I've never received one and it was exquisite. My masseuse told me that in Japan it originated as only males were allowed to give the facials and only to royalty so maybe that's why it felt so luxurious. It was challenging to get reservations here for a private soak online. We called and they said they had a hold that was due to expire at a certain time and so we called at that time and were able to snag a spot. They have different private rooms to choose from, but for this one we just had to take what was available, which was fine. It was a big hot tub, cold plunge, and sauna that a friend and I shared. It also had a private bathroom and shower. My friend was not into the communal bathing so this worked out well for us. While it was a private space, it was still outside, so keep that in mind for the sun and weather. The location is beautiful and the decor is very Zen. We made the mistake of parking at the bottom right when you drive in and had to walk all the way up. If you keep driving, you can likely find a spot closer to the front door. We also had a wonderful dinner at the on-site restaurant, but I will review that separately. read more

This time around, my massage therapist had call out due to sickness and Serena at the front desk made the experience a great one, despite the sad news. Her customer service more than made up for my missed massage, and I was able to enjoy the Grand Bath, the warming foot soak facilities and the sauna while my Mom was in her massage. This was unique experience and it was definitely worth it. I got my wife a massage and grand spa day for her birthday. I ended up taking our newborn to go for a hike while she got some relaxation. She loved it, and the place itself is absolutely stunning. It is quiet, tranquil, and lovely. I was able to check out the grand bath and the location itself. I even enjoyed a nice relaxing footbath while waiting for my wife to finish. The place is something for special occasions, anniversary, birthday, or etc. It is truly worth it and I really look forward to it again. The customer service was top notch and very kind. I'm going to give this place five stars. I haven't been back here in six years, but I'm planning a winter getaway. I'm looking back fondly at my time here. The self-care was amazing! I loved the outdoor hot tub and looking at the snow covered mountains from the hot tub. It was an amazing experience (even though the massage wasn't the best considering the price). I'm going to go on some strenuous winter hikes, and then I'm going to soak in that outdoor hot tub and enjoy the scenery. Maybe I'll get a facial this time. I'm local to the area and wanted to take advantage of their discounts, but both visits to the shared baths (the Grand Bath and Community Soak) were disrupted by loud, inconsiderate guests who turned what should be calm, tranquil spaces into their own private party tubs. During my first visit, I also booked a massage and could hear kids screaming outside the entire time. I decided to give it another chance despite my hesitation, but unfortunately, nothing has improved. Came here for four nights for our honeymoon and stayed in the Luna Room. We absolutely loved the resort and we definitely felt transported to Japan! Being lodging guests, there was a 20% discount on private hot tubs and we got to enjoy five of them! We did New Wave, Ichiban, Waterfall, Shoji, and Shin Kobuta. We also enjoyed shiatsu massages which were incredibly relaxing! They no longer offer couples massages however they were able to schedule my husband and I at the same time so we didn't have to wait for one another. The Ichiban was probably our favorite tub since you're seated in what feels like a giant teacup. The bed in Luna was on the VERY firm side however after speaking with the front desk they sent additional blankets to our room to pad the bed. We ate all of our lunches and dinners at izanami - the restaurant on the property - and were provided yogurt and oatmeal for breakfast. We ended up stopping by Trader Joe's before checking in and got some granola and fruit. The rooms have a microwave, mini fridge (like a college dorm room size - enough to store drinks and food), a sink, coffee maker, hot water kettle, coffee and tea, and utensils and bowls/plates! We had everything we needed but were only 15 minutes away from downtown Santa Fe. Staff are very good at explaining the check-in process as we needed to do a late check-in and wouldn't get to the property until 9 PM. All of the staff were super kind and friendly! This Japanese-inspired spa is the ultimate in luxury pampering and one of the highlights of my visit to NM. Be sure to arrive earlier than your scheduled massage to soak in the pool, hit the sauna and plunge into an ice bath. Also, be prepared to stow your gear in the unisex locker rooms ... there are private changing rooms but yeah, that was a first for me. But since there were a lot of couples, it makes sense. There also are private pools, a foot bath, a relaxation room and even a gift shop featuring the spa's signature scents. The yuzu and hinoki fragrances are featured as shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion in the enclosed showers. Plus, Drybar hair dryers also available to use. My masseuse was amazing though she had to have burned 10,000 calories with the amount of work she did to unwind my tense muscles. I'll admit to falling asleep at one point only to snort myself awake. I went with a group of girlfriends, and we were all taken aback by the unisex locker room. The grand bath was a little small to be called "grand". It was an amazing experience! We came here to relax and try their pool. It was a nice relaxing experience. For $75, we were able to rent one of their private warm pools that had a cold waterfall pit. Before you enter, you are given robes and find slippers in the bathroom area. You can put your clothes in a basket to carry along with you. While you're waiting for your pool, there's a lounge area where you can soak your feet or hang by the fire pit table. We had 2 hours at the pool, plenty of time just unwind and relax. We tried to jump into the cold waterfall pit. It has room for one person. But it's supposed to help with sore muscles. It was so cold at first, but you get used to it. I loved the shower rooms bc they include the essentials: YUZU shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion. They spelled so good.
