This review is long overdue, but the Inn & Spa at Loretto was a great experience. My wife and I had lunch in the courtyard and the food and service were outstanding. We then did some shopping at one of the shops in the property and also had a great experience. Overall, a great day in Santa Fe. read more

We mostly enjoyed our 4 day/3 night stay. Early January, the crowds have left and the hotel wasn't as busy. We used Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit's credit to stay here. It comes with a daily $30/person breakfast voucher, welcome wine, drip coffee at Crafted, late checkout (just one hour later for us), & $100 credit for use at the hotel. The resort fee (included in the final price when booking thru Chase Travel) includes bottled water & valet parking. The hotel is in a great central location. We could walk to lunch and dinner places and museums. The restaurant on the property (Luminaria) has good food too. The room could be a little more convenient. For instance, the closet is in the bathroom. We wished there were some hooks to hang up our jackets. There was a thin layer of dust on the bed-stand. I struggled to find table space to place my toiletries in the bathroom. read more

Attended a wedding and the steak was terrible/chewy. Place is beautiful but the steak was bad and i know it cost quite a bit.

Looked so amazing online. Was tranquil and gorgeous. Booked 6 rooms, only 1 out of 6 was used but all 6 were charged. When the only ones that showed up tried to extend our stay they told us they had to charge us the the booked rate of 419 a night meanwhile all the hotels around us for 40 to 60% less and $150-$200 a night. Even though we had to stay there two nights already they refused to give us a better rate so we had to move for one night. I will never stay here again. This hotel is overhyped and overrated. It's OK but very rundown and old school. read more

The problem with this hotel is that it is too expensive for what you get. It cost us (including taxes) $500 a night. Now it is in Santa fe, so their location is just great. However, we spent (including taxes) $300 a night in Albuquerque at this spectacular hotel with great service, free coffee from a barista and wonderful new rooms. So when comparing the two, Loretto doesn't come out on top. The grounds at Loretto are very nice, but the elevator is old. We were on the 4th floor and just used the stairs after experiencing the elevator. The wi-fi is really spotty. It froze a lot and at one point the TV kept losing connection so we turned it off. Our shower worked but half the water ran through the tub spout no matter how we tried to stop it. Lastly, one of the receptionists was just lazy. He checked us in, didn't tell us that they put an extra $200 charge for incidentals, rattled off times for when things were open and closed and didn't give us the coupons for the free coffee in the morning. I had to go back down with a paper and pen and ask again about when things opened and closed and at that time he gave me the coffee coupons. Although he gave me just 3 coffee coupons when we should have received 4. I had to go down another time to get another coupon. On the plus side, besides their location, the bed is really nice and the massive mirror is also a nice touch. read more

Booked this thru Expedia for a retreat. full of pleasant surprises. Fabulous location. Beautiful hotel with great bar, pool, very casual, no hassle environment. Great restaurants, food, shops. Central to everything, yet private. didn't know it was also in walking distance to Catholic Cathedral and Oldest mission, house in America. Also Chapel at Loretta. Tons of history, lots of local markets. Two blocks from the Plaza. Great beds and rooftop view. read more

This hotel is very dated and worn out. The rugs have holes, tiles are worn, the furniture in the lounge has rips and it hard to believe but the toilet seat in my room was worn to the point that the paint was rubbed off!!! The staff was nice enough, and the rooms were nicely made up daily, but the hotel just needs a major renovation. Never staying here again. read more

I stayed here with my friend for girls trip. I wish i read the negative reviews carefully and wish we had chosen another property to stay. The only good thing is the location. It ends there. The front desk was generally very unhelpful and nonchalant about everything. The hotel did not have a concierge and the people they didn't train to cover the front desk were not helpful at all with respect to recommendations on where to eat/ hike/ visit/ etc., The room SMELLED like MOLD. Rooms are DATED. our chair had a large hole in it. This is not at all what I would expect from a supposed 4 star hotel. It is NOT a 4 star hotel at all. We asked for late check out and it was low season. This is the only hotel that I have stayed at that wouldn't even honor one hour later. It was not a busy weekend. And finally, after checking out i realized i left something behind. The first person i spoke with checked lost and found and could not find item. I called the next day hoping it would turn up. I was transferred to voicemail and then reservation and then reservation desk again. no one could help me. I asked reservation desk to speak with a manager. She said she couldn't help me with that and said she was going to hang up on me -- AND SHE DID, SHE HUNG UP. I travel a lot and have stayed at a lot of different hotels and this by far was the worst all around. They all need training in customer service. stay elsewhere read more

I only spent one night, but it is a very beautiful old hotel. We had a couple of drinks in the lounge. The server was very friendly and helpful, even though he was running nonstop. How he kept up with everything is beyond me. He had no help at all. Great job! The only downside is can say that set me back a little was the fees being added to the room bill. I've seen this kind of thing in Las Vegas over the last several years. And it has ran more return business away than anything else. Hidden fees are something you need to address. I still gave you 5 stars strictly because the hotel overall is a very beautiful place to stay, and my stay will be a one time thing. read more

am-the best location for a relaxing resort in the heart of Santa Fe, within a short walking distance to almost everything! The resort has lots of character, with a wonderful staff. The pool area is a secret gem, and a great place for mid afternoon relaxation before the summer storms roll in. While the rooms show their age, appreciating the flavor can enhance your experience. The bar/lounge had a live music duo that added great ambiance next to the big fireplace. We would definitely stay here again! read more

The hotel looks amazing in photos on their website, but as others have found it is desperately in need of some renovation. The mattress was good, the water was warm and the A/C worked (although really noisy). The room, however, is tired - the carpet, the trim, the window coverings all need some help. If you want ice, you have to go to the bar - no ice machine. The wait staff and bar staff were generally personable and helpful, but the front desk was unhelpful and uninterested in the customer - they seem to just be there to check you in and get your credit card. They only provide valet parking for which you get to pay for as part of your $35/nt 'amenity' fee. The nightly rate was obscene, which I didn't mind paying until I found out that paying is all you're really getting. The location is great and that might be the best thing the hotel has going for it. Probably the most disappointing thing was the Luminaria restaurant. We found it has a 3.9 star rating and now we know why - the kitchen seemed perpetually overwhelmed and the food was less than satisfactory. The restaurant really, really needs some help - quality is just abyssal considering the cost to stay at the property. Really out of line with their competition. AND, the restaurant is closed on Sundays so if you want dinner and 'thought' you'd just head to the Luminaria - no. You're treated to an abbreviated bar/pool menu which, unfortunately, comes out of the same kitchen. Really poor. We had made reservations a year in advance and ended up with a ground-floor king ADA room situated at the entrance/exit door to the parking lot and the room's 'patio' door opened into the back of someone's Hyundai parked right outside - reminded me of the old motel days where you could see you car from your bed. Again, this was at an astonishing nightly rate. I would suggest trying the LaFonda, the Eldorado or maybe the Chimayo - all I can tell you for sure is that's the last dollar the Loretto will ever get from me. Buyer beware! read more

I'm not sure what is up with Heritage Hotels... we stayed at the Loretto recently, last week, for a staycation and got a suit specifically for the fireplace and not only was there no fire starter, no kindling but when we went to the front desk, they offered zero help and sent us to the vallet to get two pieces of newspaper... needless to say, we didn't get to have the fire we specifically went there for. So very lame. We stayed in Taos at another Heritage Hotel El Monte Sagrado and it was so run down and the pool area was disgusting, the gym smelled like mold. Heritage Hotels, shame on you for not updating and taking care of the properties and details to make your guests happy. read more

Nice hotel but showing its age. Bring ear plugs. Thin walls and/or lack of insulation. You can hear everything especially the water pipes running all night long. Old, classy hotel with a lot of character. Quiet location, central to the downtown area. The room was very clean; classic fixtures, very comfortable beds. Room service was very fast; the order was correct; the food was very good. Heated swimming pool, and hot tub, both meticulously cleaned every morning. Excellent customer service. Each floor has photos of an old Santa Fe and its residents, making for an interesting tour. The fireplace in the lobby was popular. Parking is adequate. Staff is genuinely friendly, and are great at answering questions about the city and its attractions. read more

I stayed 2night during the Covid-19. I was worry that from Covid-19 because I never been this place or even Santa Fe. It was my first time visiting Santa Fe and this hotel. I was so happy to choose this hotel after checked out. Room(3/5) - a bit small room but we got enough to space for us with our puppy. Sitting area and bed area was separated and it felt like bigger room but actually not too big lol. But I understand that Santa Fe kept old building and this hotel was oldest than building whichever where I stayed hotel before. The bed was comfortable but we had issues with shower. Water drain so slower and water level was weak too. Service(5/5)- dog friendly hotel. Our puppy was happy to stayed this hotel. Also all the staff members were very kindly. Quick checked in and quick checked out. When I checked out time they asked me to still long way to back home and they gave me bottle of water for drive back to home. They always have smile on the faces and that's made me smile and very comfortable. You don't have to pay packing fee when you stay this hotel. Free parking service and parking was so easy. Location(5/5)- this hotel is located Mecca of Santa Fe. You can walk everywhere. Near by nice restaurant and tourists attractions, even easy to walking with your dog. I would stay this hotel again when I'm travel to Santa Fe next time. Thank you so much for I having good memories my first time road trip. read more

New Year's Eve on the Plaza. It's still early but cold with little happening. We decided to go for a cocktail. Tried La Fonda, too close to the activities so a 40 minute wait didn't fly. Remembered that Inn at Loretto wasn't much farther but upon arrival it seemed miles away with the ambiance only Loretto can provide. Felt like we walked into the living room of good friends. Service was spectacular, on point. We had cocktails in no time, delivered to our cushy chairs seated around a lovely round table. Customer service is a big issue with me. We received 5-star service that night. Happy New Year. read more

as a local I love this hotel... the spa, the salon and the valets. But the restaurant leaves much to be desired. I realize they get busy but today I was seated ... as a single woman ... on the patio for brunch where I was ignored for nearly 15 minutes. I was never acknowledged or welcomed. No water ... the hostess was a snob irritated to be bothered. So I left. I told her about my experience.... she did not care. I won't be back nor will I take visitors or recommend. A hostess is supposed to greet customers and alert waiters that someone is seated in their zone. Kinda basic. read more

Nestled in the heart of Santa Fe, New Mexico, The Inn and Spa at Loretto offers an unforgettable blend of Southwestern charm, modern luxury, and serene tranquility. This iconic destination, located steps from the historic Santa Fe Plaza, is a true embodiment of the region's culture and beauty. The architecture, inspired by the historic Taos Pueblo, is stunning, with adobe-style structures that blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. The accommodations are equally impressive, offering elegant, cozy rooms adorned with local art, handcrafted furnishings, and modern amenities. Many rooms feature private balconies with breathtaking views of Santa Fe's natural beauty and enchanting sunsets. Dining at the Inn is another highlight. The Luminaria Restaurant serves up award-winning cuisine featuring fresh, locally inspired flavors. Their outdoor patio, adorned with twinkling lights, creates a magical setting for a memorable meal. I had the Luminaria Benedict and my partner had the Huevos Rancheros, both were excellent! The staff's warm hospitality in the hotel and restaurant is the icing on the cake, ensuring you feel welcome and cared for throughout your stay. Our dogs enjoyed the stay as well! read more

I booked a room 3 months ahead of time and was aware of their "no refund policy". The room was for my wife and step son to enjoy a long weekend in SF. One week before the trip my stepson was hospitalized with a serious kidney issue and was put on dialysis, making the trip impossible. I asked the hotel if we could get a credit (pre-paid $800+ for 2 nights). The hotel gave me some excuse that their system "can't process" either a refund or credit. This is the 21st century! Warning to anyone to avoid pre-paying this hotel for anything. Zero empathy. Only focused on the $$. read more

ROOM was nice. No complaints except odd the phone wasn't on the nightstand but choosers can't be choosers. Nice we asked for another bathrobe and it was brought up. FRONT DESK nicest people ever! Regarding Smokey the Bear...ask the front desk about how to get one and no I don't mean taking the one in the room because that one costs $30 if you remove it from the room. Water in the front so bring a water bottle and keep refilling it. Infused with cucumber lemon watermelon depending on the day. LOUNGE closed early, but get there in time to order drinks and try their jalapeño drink. Lounge is open all night but the bar closes early. Enjoyed their dip and chips. Fireplace was going. Nice place to sit and chill with certain nights with live music. VALET parking only which I like. $30 resort fee gets you WiFi which worked just fine. Coffee and tea. Newspaper. Fruit in the front lobby. Walking distance to downtown Santa Fe. Check out the chapel next door. Oldest Mission is just up the street. read more

Gorgeous heritage hotel with unique rooms and decor throughout. Centrally located to restaurants, shops, coffee, and plaza. The spa is a dream and I got one of the best massages of my life. The Luminaria restaurant was tasty and had enormous portions. Only downside is they let a dog in with its owner and it sat on the bench. I'd hope pets would be expected to remain on the floor or not be allowed into a restaurant at all. The pool and hot tub were clean and beautiful. Finally, service from valet, to concierge, to spa, to cleaning staff was so friendly and helpful. read more

This hotel was a delicate breeze of New Mexico flavor in my lifetime. And believed me I needed it. Terrace king room was exquisite. Space wise too. The terrace is furnished with two chairs and table, also two chaise long. The main restaurant was beautiful, Antonio the head chef even visited our table to share some of his culinary knowledge with us. It was a retreat just stepping in the front gate. They did have live music playing in the lobby a night. I'm a 'local' Santa Fean. Some years ago the Living Room lounge was a wonderful place to meet friends and had good drinks, good 'bar' food, and always stellar service. Two friends came in from out of town and my wife and I met them at the lounge. It was Zozobra night, by the way. Perhaps that's why this was such a terrible experience. The lounge was hardly more than 20% full. The table we chose was sticky.. hadn't been cleaned well for a while, obviously. It took nearly 15 minutes to get a drink order for the four of us. We could see the bartenders from the table, they were not the slightest bit busy. And the drinks weren't anything special, just basic martinis. And for the prices charged they were just average. CowGirls makes better, larger, for less. The waiter did his best but was obviously the only one taking care of the lounge guest and we could see he was overworked. We ordered some things to nibble on.. I chose the Loretto Burger as it was advertised as "2021 Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown People's Choice Award". It wasn't worth the $20, I've had better at Wendys. The New Mexico Green Chile Cheese Fries were awful, soggy and pretty tasteless. The Nachos were ok but just ok. But .. the food arrived and THEN we had to chase down a server to get napkins and utensils. Huh? Seriously? Meanwhile the food, which was delivered lukewarm got colder. Who trained these people? Then the guitar player arrived, set up 15 feet from the table and was so loud that and we couldn't hear each other. My wife asked for coffee after giving up on her food. The waiter said, I swear, "The only coffee we have was made this morning". Wait, what, there's room services, the big Luminaria restaurant, and we can't get a fresh cup? Then the cream delivered with the coffee was sour. It just kept getting worse by the minute! Then, the 2nd round of drinks took another 20 minutes to arrive. And yes, the bartenders were still just loafing around, so it wasn't like they were backed up with business. ( I was a bartender for years, so know what I'm talking about ). So.. we finished and paid the tab. Over $150. The bad coffee was on the bill, but at that point we just wanted to GTFO of there.. but wait.. there's more! When we got home my wife had black spots and dirt all over the back of her nice white slacks. I couldn't believe it. Summary: I was mortified that the experience was so terrible. Embarrassed that my out of town friends had such a bad time. Saddened to see that the place has gone downhill so much. I'll never go back, and never recommend this place to anyone. Too bad, the Inn used to be a landmark place to visit. read more

We say no only because of this: Our third day we and a couple were waiting on an elevator. The woman looked very upset, her husband shaken. We asked if they were okay. They replied with "Does this elevator work?" we said yes, we had used it several times. They then said that they had used the second elevator and that it dropped three floors!!! When we got on the elevator I saw that there was no "Certification of Recent Inspection", like we see in all Texas elevators. That's scary, very scary! Also, the pool service was awful. One of the best massages I have ever received. Linda worked magic. Very friendly, helpful, and professional staff.

The pool is closed, which we didnt know about as it wasnt communicated when we booked this hotel month ago. This doesnt stop them from charging a $30 a day resort fee. So, you have been warned. AND, do not stay on the 4th floor. They do not know how to cool off that floor in the summer time. They offered fans for our room, but opted to move us to the second floor, which was signficantly better. Overall, I will say that the staff was very polite, nice, knowledgeable and just top notch. Although we werent happy about the pool, resort fee and fridge not working properly, we have only positive things to say about every staff person we talked to. read more

Currently staying for our 20th wedding Anniversary. The hotel and check in was is 5 BUT.... The bar staff was extremely rude and put off by us ordering drinks. I booked this hotel because I specifically wanted a pool and searched according to that filter on Expedia. This was my #1 booking criteria. There was no pool and no mention anywhere that the pool area was under construction. At check in, the staff mentioned that the " filter " on travel search engines like Expedia hasn't managed to update. They also told me that the website mentioned that the pool is under renovation. I double checked and it is extremely unclear. Pool images and pool packages appear on the homepage with " Coming Summer 2023 " headlines with " you may not be able to have a soak " verbiage - just say that it is closed and under renovation. And hide the pictures. This is incredibly misleading. Also no way this pool is opening before 2024, it was barely a dirt pit when we visited. We nonetheless enjoyed being granted pool access at one of their sister properties, but it was a 15 minute walk and we had to chug along all our bags and a change of clothes. But the straw that broke the camel's back is the drilling that woke us up at 8:00 am and continued for hours. Basically the entire property is under construction. If this was a business hotel, I wouldn't mind, but in this case we were staying at this specific property for R&R. This is Unacceptable. The poor front staff was accommodating and moved us to a different room, which wasn't as nice as the one we booked initially. All in all, the rooms and hallways are all a bit dated. We kept getting electrical shocks when turning on the bathroom light switch. Yikes. Breakfast area and selection was good, staff was lovely all around, especially the bar tenders. You can only put the blame on management for this underwhelming experience. I wouldn't book there again if I had to return to Santa Fe. read more
