Lovely hotel. Checked in late and they were so accommodating, leaving great instructions for letting ourself in. Cozy big room and great breakfast. Super friendly will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Santa Fe.

We stayed at Four Kachinas from Friday evening until Sunday morning in April. Once the cost of the room, tax, and the lodger's fee were combined, the cost came to $290.59 per night. For that price, and for being a 3-star hotel, Four Kachinas fell well below what we were expecting. Hotel Tech Report describes 3-star hotels as follows: "Three stars: a typical hotel will have three stars and offer room service, ensuite bathrooms, daily cleaning, a desk or table, and Wifi. This is a standard hotel experience that most travelers expect unless they're on a strict budget." Four Kachinas did not offer room service, a desk or table, and the WiFi was continually intermittent through our stay. When we tried to watch TV, it buffered because of the slow WiFi, and then when we selected something it wanted us to download and sign up for an app. We needed to run the hot water in the bathroom for a long while for it to heat up; the hot water heater is presumably shared with the other rooms and en suites in the complex. Finally, there was no mini-fridge in the room, so we couldn't bring home leftovers, and anyone needing to store refrigerated medication would be out of luck. The room we selected, the Zia, was cute and decorated eclectically in a Southwest theme. It had a very solid king bed, two sitting chairs, a closet for storing clothing, and a large shower. Four Kachinas offers a breakfast in the morning from 8am-9:30am, which includes bread selections, fruit plates, cereal, and a hot dish. The morning we tried the breakfast the hot dish was a vegetarian black bean and tortilla strata and one link of chicken sausage. Neither my husband nor I cared for the breakfast and we opted to eat out the second morning we were there. Overall, a cute room but not much in the way at all with amenities or even basic services (a refrigerator, WiFi, hot water, a table or desk, etc). Perhaps others will have a different experience, but at almost $300 a night we'll opt to stay elsewhere next time.

This place was fantastic! We visited for New Year's Eve and it was beautiful. The service was fantastic from someone unknowingly brushing off our snowy car to the tasty breakfast. Our room was wonderfully decorated and clean upon arrival. It is also super close to the plaza and can easily get there within a 10 minute walk. We would definitely stay again! Thank you!

The bed sits just inches from the toilet door, so unless you're unusually close with your travel companion, pack earplugs and a blindfold. Dust was caked into the corners, a dead bug was in the ripple of the vintage rug, and we were greeted by a dried booger on the bathroom door (seriously). The door frame lets light in, the floors creaked like a haunted house, and the entire layout felt like it was designed by someone who's never actually had to sleep there. There were no privacy blinds, only wooden shutters, and the artwork provided enough clutter to fill the room just in case you forgot your own luggage. Breakfast was the big show! Most of what we were served was delicious. For an extra $45 per person, you'll be given whatever the kitchen feels like making that morning... no choices, no allergy considerations, and not even a glass of water. Instead, you're handed an herbal infusion and expected to sip with gratitude while waiting 90 minutes for your dessert tart. But our group's disappointment simply must have meant we didn't understand the "magic" of the experience. In the end, Casa Culinaria is the kind of place that confuses ambiance with hospitality and is more interested in curating an image than creating a welcoming stay. If you're searching in Santa Fe for a splintering rocking chair, garden corners appropriate for Instagram, or even paying $340/night to be treated like an inconvenience... this is the winner! Anyone interested in actual hospitality should keep searching.

Hidden-gem and boutique hotel. This place houses the true spirit of SanteFe - small, quiet, casual,…read morespiritual, beautiful, artistic, earthen, community. It's located on a side street with east walking access to the downtown square, the rail yards, and canyon road galleries. The rooms are perfectly redone with wifi but NO TVs (thank the heavens!!). The vegetarian breakfast and amazing coffee in the quaint, courtyard garden will set you up for a great day walking the city, museums or hiking trails. The staff have become my friends. They are honest, real and extremely hard working. If you're looking for valet parking, staff-servants, shampoo you can steal, giant TVs, and a bar to waste the golden sunset hour, there are hundreds of options in town. If your looking for a soulful retreat and artistic hub with artistic intellectuals - this is one of very few places in town. The Parador feels like you're staying in an old family friends home. Don't take that lightly, because it's simplicity IS its beauty. Thank you Eban, Grace, Martin and friends. The Parador is a gem.

The great…read morewas a comfortable bed, and for the breakfast one had two options: a)pancakes with fruit topping or b)potato-based fritata. The unusual was a heated bidet toilet. One can try out something many don't have at home. Then, the disappointing: first, no TV (they're assuming you bring a lap or similar device...problem was I could connect to the network, but got no internet on either phone or laptop.) 2nd, fortunately I brought my own espresso machine, grinder & fresh beans. Reason being, pre-ground coffee with a French press just isn't the same...and you can't steam your milk via the French press method. The towel rack was pulling out of the wall (as it's a deep tub with no loop handle on the wall to grasp upon exit). A floor shower with a marble lip to allow water to build slightly is preferable & much safer especially for seniors. Finally, the mirror needs adjusting for typical heights of people. In the 5'7 - 6'3 range is optimal. A very nice room overall for the price, but internet should be tested in each room if TV's aren't included.- Dan G.

Inn of the Governors - 2 bed room

Inn of the Governors

My travel companion and I recently spent two nights at the Inn of the Governors in Santa Fe in…read moreearly September, and it was a fantastic experience. This independent hotel is an older, yet well-maintained property. It offers a slightly less luxurious experience compared to some of the more upscale lodging options in the Santa Fe Plaza area, but its charm, location, perks, and value make it an excellent choice. The Inn of the Governors is located just a few very walkable blocks from the Plaza, the New Mexico state capitol building, and downtown's main cultural and historic sites. What really sets this property apart from other local options are the stellar hospitality and thoughtful amenities. Every morning begins with a free cooked-to-order breakfast in the hotel's on-site restaurant from 630am til 1030am featuring traditional favorites like eggs and pancakes as well as excellent New Mexican specialties like huevos rancheros. On-site parking is free -- a valuable perk in downtown Santa Fe where parking can be $30-50/night -- and the exceptionally friendly staff hosts a daily happy hour from 4pm to 5pm with complimentary sherry, hot herbal tea, and New Mexico's traditional biscochito cookies. Our room's traditional New Mexican decor and furnishings were starting to show their age, but they were clean and well maintained. My room featured a large LED TV with plenty of content, a reasonable workspace with easy-to-connect WiFI, and individual HVAC controls that made it easy to manage the temperature during the night. The room was also equipped with a small refrigerator as well as a single-serve coffee maker with four pods. The bathroom had plenty of space on the vanity for my personal hygiene items. If you're deciding on room options, the 'deluxe' rooms in the main building are well worth considering - especially during cooler weather - because they feature Kiva-style wood-burning fireplaces for guests' use. Given the age of the property, this hotel would typically earn a 3- or 4-star rating, but everything else about our experience easily warrants my rounding up to a 5-star rating. PRO TIP: Book directly through the hotel's website. Guests who book directly (rather than through an online travel agent -- offering the same nightly rates) receive a $15 per night credit for their on-site restaurant, Del Charro. Unlike typical hotel dining, Del Charro's prices are very reasonable with entrees ranging from $9 to $20 and they don't hit guests with an automatic 20-25% service charge.

And they didn't hv any 2 bed rooms available. So I found this place And in that week between Christmas and New Year's we still wanted to catch the Christmas lights and farolitos And if you too are about location, location, location This was perfect If you've ever had to drive to Santa Fe, you know that parking can be a bear -- and it was, with a lot of the main streets blocked off in anticipation of NYE celebrations. The hotel is actually quite a large, sprawling complex, much deeper that what might be assumed when pulling in. We got there mid-afternoon so could park rt in front of our first floor room. I hadn't even thought about that but my creaky knees were happy and quite relieved to only hv to haul my wee bag up 7 steps or so. Check in was easy, if a bit crowded, as a lot of regulars like to show up a bit early too. The doorman was a very polite young man and everyone made us feel welcome. The older gentleman at the counter was a font of information And made sure we knew abt the Happy Hour Short and sweet Whatever you do: try the biscochitos! (The official NM state cookie, fyi - for a reason - when done right, and these definitely are!) Everything was very clean Even with all the Christmas decorations and greenery out There's an excellent restaurant on site And when they say there's "a bit of a kick", and shd you be a wuss like me, order the spicy on the side. Staff was very considerate abt this. And breakfast is pretty good too! And it was so easy to walk to everything, stuff I usually don't get to see bc I'm usually on the other side of town. All in all, a lovely stay
