We spent 7 nights at this hotel. Rooms are small with few amenities, but adequate. They are cleaned only upon request, and our first request for a cleaning was ignored. They have a free shuttle, which should be a great asset. We used it to go to the central plaza. We were told pick up would be every hour at quarter after, no phone call required. At 6 they did not show, at 7 it did not appear, nor at 8 (the last pickup of the night told to us by the driver). We tried calling the hotel and even the adjoining restaurant (same number) over 58 times, but they do not answer the telephone, even though the message said to call back as they were on another call. It was cold and rainy and we ended up calling Lift! This was unacceptable. Upon leaving a $15 "resort fee" (per day) for shuttle and breakfast had been added, which was not disclosed in the online pricing. read more

We had an important event to attend to on May 21, 2026 to May 24, 2026 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We had booked our room early with Sage Hotel on May 3, 2026. When we arrived to the property on our book-in date of May 21, 2026. We were told by the lady at the front desk that the hotel was over booked. Said that she tried to up grade our room and there are NO rooms available. Now, I was confused about how a person booking and RESERVING a room 17 or 18 days prior to the reservation just gets bumped off. The Sage Hotel didn't even try to accommodate us for their screw up. Didn't even help us in finding another hotel to put us in. So we ended up finding another hotel ourselves. We have never been treated like this when we come to Santa Fe, NM. Over all! The Sage Hotel is the place WE will NEVER stay at when we come to Santa Fe to do our business. read more

This was listed as a charming hotel with South West touches. The "hotel" is actually an poorly updated motel; which was done many years ago. The fiberglass shower insert was cracked, with a gob of caulk to attempt to seal it. The faucet dripped. The bedspread was stained. There was an odor in the room that even an open window couldn't hide. There was no comfortable place to sit other than the bed. The only positive was the sheets which were very comfortable. I would NOT recommend this "hotel" unless you are seeking a bare bones place to stay for a night or two tops. read more

The Sage Hotel is really more of a motel than a hotel. It's surprisingly large, though the rooms themselves are quite small. We had a few issues with cleanliness and were a bit puzzled by the $15 "resort fee." The breakfast didn't include any gluten-free or vegan options, though I understand this may be addressed in the future. That said, the manager, Mr. Davis, helped smooth over these issues, and we appreciated his friendly and professional service. The Sage is also in a good location, it's close to town, restaurants, coffee shops, landmarks, and more. read more

The Sage Hotel - Fireplace in The Sage. - Hotels Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

Reasonably clean, comfortable, and quiet. About what you would expect to get for this price point in a place like Santa Fe. Front desk was comatose and didn't know how to check me in. Not a very welcoming environment. Made no eye contact and didn't smile once. A lot of yelling in Spanish outside of the hotel room by employees of the property during the day, which I attribute to local flavor. Mold in the bathroom. Musty smell in the rooms. Only one towel available. One of the outlets didn't work. Just an OK experience. I second (or third, or fourth) the motion that this is a motel that has been superficially and cosmetically upgraded to present as something that it's not. Obviously, so that they can charge more. Very meh. read more

This place never answers the phone. They just leave callers on terminal hold. My husband left his license there and we've never been able to talk to anyone. I may have to actually drive to Santa Fe to talk anyone there. A very shoddy way to run a motel. read more

I did read the reviews but I will say we had a nice stay. As with anything search for best rate. Note this motel is within about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the plaza. Over the years before we retired to NM we stayed in a LOT of places in Santa Fe including La Fonda where we had a tiny room way in the back (they should have paid us). So to find a place close to all for a really good price including breakfast was nice surprise. Good they take dogs for a fee, good breakfast and nice area to walk your doggie. Easy walk to railyards and plaza. Next to Whole Foods although this is one of the worst of the chain I have ever been in. Needs major update. Not as good yes it's a motel, yes it's old, yes it needs some work. But if you want to be closer to the older areas it's a good pick vs the generic places on Cerrilos, other side of St Francis. I would and probably will stay again. I have a few suggestions I will send to management Also staff for the most part were super nice. read more

From the initial viewing online The Sage Hotel looked like a great hotel to book. It is in a centralized location and from the photos the rooms looked up to date and modern. However, after staying there the pictures were just a facade. The rooms were stale, staff were not helpful and the location was loud. Our room and bathroom door did not lock. We found a spider and spider web underneath our pillows and the walls were so thin we could hear everything happening above us and outside of our door. I do not recommend staying here if you have little children, it felt sketchy, dirty and unsafe. If you don't mind sleeping with spiders and having a decent breakfast, this might be the place for you! read more

Our stay occurred in early June 2026 for a business and pleasure trip. This "hotel" was recommended to me by a business colleague. The online pictures are very deceiving. The rooms are small and dark. The only chair in the room is a desk chair, no place to relax. We asked for an upgraded room but were advised all the rooms are the same size. I found the staff to be very friendly. We determined to forgo the remainder of our stay and moved to another hotel. One evening we found ants in our room at The Sage. We were moved to the adjacent room. Then discovered mold on the shower wall. Ty traveler beware read more

Enjoyed our stay....as usual. Despite several years since staying at the Sage, we found the rooms and staff to be as we recalled- wonderful. Ed's were comfy with plenty of pillows. Always nice to have a fridge in room. Property was well kept with outdoor sitting areas. Dog friendly. A/C worked well without that funky smell like some radiator-type ones. Great location, easy walking to many downtown shops/restaurants- free shuttle to Plaza! Having breakfast and the Social for yummy food and drinks to unwind, meet and plan the days and nights is an added bonus. Shout out to the shuttle driver who was overly accommodating, personable with great tips! Sage will always be our go to when in Santa Fe!! Thanks for making our trip so much better! read more

This was a great hotel for us! It's close to the Railyard Park and the Farmers market, which is a must do! My friend and I got 2 rooms with two queen beds. It's clean and the rooms have been updated. There is a $15 resort fee which covers the hot breakfast, which is well worth it! There is also an outdoor pool and a small fitness room. This isn't fancy but totally met our needs. Plenty of parking. read more

Let's begin with it's a motel , not a hotel. We booked a room with a view, apparently it's a view of a wall. I'll ask more questions next time. The room is in bad shape . The carpet feels damp, the room smelled and the shower is falling apart. For some reason the remote was in a sealed plastic wrap , but when opened the remote was sticky They push self check in but still staff someone to stand over you. I did not try the restaurant, but it was busy. I went with a 2 star because the included breakfast buffet was good. Anyway, it's a 20 minute safe walk to the square. read more

I really liked the hotel. I saw that it included a free breakfast! But it's not free!! And- it's your basic breakfast. But I dislike the "sneaky" practice of including a $15/day charge for the Xperience Xclusives". Supposedly this is for: Daily Hot Breakfast Buffet: Shuttle Service: Provided to and from the Santa Fe Plaza, High-Speed Wi-Fi: Parking: Swimming Pool: Access to the heated outdoor pool, which is open seasonally Fitness Center: 24-hour access to the on-site exercise facility. Dining Discount: 15% off lunch and dinner at the on-site SOCIAL Kitchen + Bar. Additional Amenities: Use of the 24-hour business center (including printing/faxes), 24/7 coffee and tea in the lobby, and local telephone calls. Tell me, what hotel doesn't include parking? Unless you're right in the city center. Even then- most Santa Fe hotels include parking. The other things are simple amenities!! Why can't I have the option of opting out of the XX program. Ridiculous!! They got me to stay there because the price was right. However, after fees and taxes the price was higher. Glad I didn't stay longer!! Basically it's fraud. Why act as though it's some special exclusive add on. If it is I should be able to take it off too!!! read more

Absolutely the worst, do not stay here. Bad environment, run down rooms, crappy food. really bad management, any other hotel is better.

"Concept Hotel" What a crock! First off, its a motel not a hotel. Where do they get off charging a resort fee? Rooms were small - tight in fact. No dresser, tiny desk instead. Literally no where to sit except the beds. How about putting up some signs directing to to where the rooms are? We drove around the parking lot several times as they lack signage. Our sign was actually in an outdoor hall way behind the stairs. We didnt find that until the next day by happenstance. The walkway on our 2nd floor was dangerous. 4 sudden drops to get to the stairway. Definitely tripping material. We talked wih several people who almost fell. And as far as "The Social" goes, signage says its a late night place. It was Margarita Monday from 5 to 10. We walked in at 9 and were told we have 2 minutes before last call and they're closing. Also, the kitchen was already closed. Not at all like the pictures. Never again! read more

This is Not hotel as number of other people brought it up. BF below average and they were not prepared most of the time. Not a welcoming place overall kind of disappointing in general. They don't even have lights on the main entrance on the road so it's easy to miss out the driveway. read more

This is a motel marketing itself as a "boutique" hotel. It features tacky AI art and dirty rooms with paper thin walls. I would never stay here again. The bathrooms were horrible. Outdated with mold, mildew, and rusted hardware. Notice how there are no pics of the bathrooms on the website. There was hair on pillows, and the furniture oddly placed with a side-table in front of the joining room's door. The neighboring room's conversations could be heard perfectly, they were not being loud. It was nearly impossible sleeping. I called the lobby and the staff person was polite and acknowledged that noise is an issue and was only able to offer a waving of their sneaky $15 amenities fee. They explain it as a way to use facilities such as the pool but the pool was closed for the season. When checking out, three other couples/families before us had complaints of dirty rooms, broken or non working amenities , and noise. The staff is polite but seem used to the constant complaints. I asked for a full refund but they said they could only wave the amenities fee. My suggestion for management: Invest into housekeeping and do thorough quality checks, remodel and clean bathrooms and do something about the flimsy walls! At least provide sound machines as you clearly know noise is an issue. More than apologies, take accountability and offer full refunds. read more

This is a tale of 2 rooms. My first stay was the 7th of Feb and the room on the 1st floor was great. It may have been recently remodeled. The 107, for one king bed, included a pretty good breakfast & wifi. On the 13th, an approaching snowstorm caused me to change my plans. I left the evening before my planned departure and opted to spend the night in Santa Fe. I booked with The Sage again and was given a room on the 2nd floor, opposite side of my last stay. This room looked nice, one king bed area, but the bathroom looked several months past its expiration date. PLUS, I kept getting whiffs of bad feet. I assumed the carpet was also past its expiration date. So, I gave it 4 stars because all-in-all it was a nice place. Even though the shower area looked old & patched, it was clean and everything worked. The first room was good enough to offset the feet smell of the carpet. Plus the staff seemed very nice & helpful. The breakfast was pretty good, and it had a restaurant & bar, which I didn't utilize on either stay. read more

There are really kind staff members here. My room was clean, the bed was comfy, and when I needed an extra washcloth, I was given one. I was only in my room to relax after walking around all day and to sleep. The room met all needed requirements. The restaurant off of the lobby is good. Nice servers there as well. They have different activities/events each night if the week. I think karaoke was on Sunday when I was there. They also have a game night, and then this blue grass band comes to play as well. Pretty cool. A lot of locals seem stop by the restaurant. Not a lot of options for the breakfast that is included with your booking. read more

I really want to give this place more stars. But two many fatal flaws. First the good is that they are well located, have a Whole Foods next door; recently renovated the main units and their lobby, and the staff are super friendly. But the negatives are pretty bad. The price is excellent but they charge a non-declinable $15 per night "resort fee" despite the pool being closed in the dead of winter and the WiFi being slower than my 5g. The $15 bumps up the cost to being not so competitive and is just sneaky and ick. And to make matters worse; my room was renovated and looked great when we were entered but the bathroom hadn't and was vintage motel room 1980s. Ick. The faucets were wired backwards so right was hot. Ouch. Get rid of the resort fee and fix up the bathrooms and this would be a four or five. But stretching for a three when it should have been a two. read more

Do not get suckered by the photos! The website makes it look so tidy, clean, and modern. The Sage (a "concept" hotel) is anything but... The experience: 1. This hotel is obviously an old motel that has been very poorly renovated. - Walls are dirty and poorly painted - Furnishings are beaten to hell - The flooring was not installed well and there are big gaps that capture dirt and - HVAC is really old and loud - The walls are paper thin. We were on the first floor and could hear EVERY step and sneeze that happened in the room above us. Also, the random drunk people hanging out outside our room... - Lastly, there's a reason the images on the site don't show you the bathrooms... ours was definitely not touched during the renovation -- it was so gross and outdated. 2. It is the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in. When we arrived, the room smelled really strongly of bleach, which would make you think it was clean... we were so very wrong. A few things of note: - Dead bugs on the desk - There was hair stuck all over the walls in the bathroom - A mysterious brown/black "stuff" was spilled all over the walls in the bathroom - Mold growing inside the shower knob - The TV remote was covered in this plastic bag that was filthy 3. The Room Amenities: - There were three flat pillows on the king-sized bed and nothing but a sheet and a thin blanket. - Towels, you get two thin towels. That's it. - There's no microwave, so you'll need to use the communal one in the lobby. It was covered in old food and human hair. - The fire alarm is mysteriously covered in a plastic bag? - They bought the cheapest TV available -- the quality if horrendous. - WIFI is super weak and unreliable. Hope you weren't trying to do any work! read more

The room is alright, and the front desk people were friendly so I'll giving them the two stars for that. You gotta ask to stay away from others to have a quiet night though, I'm up at 4:35 writing this review cuz the dumfk staying above IS being so loud, walking around doing godknowswhat at this time since like 3:30. They have thin walls and you can easily hear the steps and noises. If they turned on the shower you will hear it, and if you have some oblivious annoying people upstairs, you WILL know it. read more

, I am filing a formal complaint regarding a significant health hazard encountered at the Sage Hotel, located at 725 Cerrillos Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87505. On the evening of June 18, 2025, my companion and I checked into Room 286 at approximately 8:44 PM. Within less than two hours, both of us began experiencing immediate and severe physical symptoms, including: - Swelling in the ears, nose, and eyes - Skin irritation and rashes (photo attached) - Respiratory discomfort and sinus inflammation Upon inspecting the room, we discovered visible black mold along the base of the bathroom wall and doorframe. The affected area appears to have been painted over, trapping mold beneath deteriorating, bubbling paint and sealant. I have included photographs documenting this hazard, as well as the physical reaction I experienced. As someone with a documented mold allergy and a history of mycotoxin poisoning, this exposure triggered a strong reaction. I do not currently have health insurance, so I was unable to seek immediate medical treatment, despite needing it. Instead, I documented the symptoms as best I could and checked out of the hotel at approximately 10:25 PM, under duress and with physical discomfort. I respectfully request that your office: 1. Immediately inspect Room 286 at Sage Hotel for mold contamination and air quality issues. 2. Require the hotel to undergo certified mold remediation and provide public documentation before reopening the room to future guests. 3. Record this incident with appropriate health and lodging authorities. 4. Consider potential violations of public accommodation safety standards. If this situation is not promptly investigated and corrected, I reserve the right to escalate it to consumer protection and legal authorities. Please confirm receipt of this complaint. All supporting documentation, including photographs and a detailed incident timeline, is available for review. read more

We used to stay here when we bus tours. Reasonable price for Santa Fe good location right next to Whole Foods . This time I am coming with my small child and senior mom cause the ballon festival. We had long drive from Las Vegas after so much walking and standing we were eager to check in hotel and crash out . They had a leak so they were working on them all water come out brown. The rooms look much dated since I stayed here in the past for $223 a night. But I stayed in hotel every day I understand it's expensive to renovate the whole prom. This review is not a complaint about the room . It's about the live band right outside people's room . Loud live band will go on till 9:30pm. I don't know why people think this is ok . People come to hotel motel to sleep . This is not restaurant or musical establishments. When I called front desk their tone definitely tell me it's no the first time you have people complain. The general manager say i understand I am sorry . There's nothing I can do . You are the first person complain tonight. I express my concern he said "welcome to Santa Fe ". Listen to the video which only allows me to upload 30 seconds. Long enough to express my point of view . read more

Customer service is clearly lacking at this place. Our tv cable has gone out intermittently since we checked in and tonight it has been off all evening. The phone in Our room also doesn't work and when calling the listed # there is no answer. We went to the front desk to get more soap, shampoo and towels. They tried to give us soap that was slivered and I refused it and they also had no towels. She said she would have housekeeping bring us a bath bar snd fresh towels. I came through Santa Fe a month ago as a stop on my way to Taos and decided to stay here because it was pet friendly and seemed to have a cool vibe and it ended up being beyond expectations. So good I'm back here again a month later while spending another week in Santa Fe. Clean, cool, awesome staff, reasonable priced, and the restaurant + bar is amazing. Live music some nights too. It's also close to the Plaza and they have a shuttle that runs there every hour. I'll never stay anywhere else while I'm here because they get every aspect right. read more

I'd give it less stars if I could. The only decent part of our one night stay was the front desk clerk. Sorry I didn't catch her name but very accommodating and helpful. First, this is a motel, not a hotel! I was given a room on the second floor, 12 steps! Even though in special instructions I put not able to do stairs. Also, all of the rooms are supposedly "non-smoking ". I'm fairly certain that they never changed the carpet or paint since they used to allow smoking, but I had to leave the fan going with the door open for an hour, and I still got a migraine and had to use my inhaler because I'm allergic to smoke! Supposedly the only other rooms available were pet friendly rooms, and I'm also allergic to cats. This may have been bearable until I found out that there's a $15 per day "resort" fee for all of this wonderfulness! read more

This place describes itself as "a dreamy bohemian retreat," but really it has the feel of a nightmarish bohemian druggie motel with lazy attempts at Santa Fe style. My wife and I were shocked at how rundown and dilapidated everything was. The front desk staff are also rude and dismissive. Do yourself a favor & spend the money elsewhere - their website is extremely deceiving and it should honestly be a crime. This place is a dump. It looks like a budget inn that had a few upgrades but it's still a pretty crappy place to stay. They replaced room furniture with wooden modern looking items - nice touch, but the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The sink & tub look like they are still from the 70's. Water pressure was weak/bad, water did not get hot. TV is small. Lights did not work on one side of the bed. And the refrigerator was unplugged upon arrival. Towels are thin and cheaply made. They charge a daily fee for things like WiFi, parking, breakfast, and a shuttle service. Well the WiFi is slow and unreliable. Parking is fine. I did not bother trying breakfast. And the shuttle service only runs once an hour & by request only - with given how close it is to downtown, that's kind of a rip off. We did utilize the shuttle service downtown - it was late due to someone taking the shuttle keys home accidentally with them. Then when we asked about pick up service, the employee said "I get off at 3. So you better be done/call us by then" but the shuttle is supposed to run until 8PM. The employee was also playing inappropriate music from his phone while in the shuttle. There were children present and the songs were very age inappropriate. I don't have kids, and I'm a young adult, so I didn't care. But the parents seemed uncomfortable with it. They added random art in the rooms, dried chilis hanging from the ceiling, and painted the doors blue. OK. Fine, but there needs to be serious upgrades to the things that matter - showers, towels, WiFi, bed quality. Not just aesthetic upgrades. The walls are thin - you can hear people talking, walking by, etc. Pool is closed Memorial Day weekend still. This place sucks. Spend the money somewhere else. read more
