My go-to dish is the carnitas plate, served with rice and refried beans. The portion is generous, so you'll definitely have leftovers. The grilled onions are always grilled to perfection, and the plate comes with three tortillas. Before ordering my hefty meal, my eyes graced the colorful murals and decor emulating Mexican/Latino design. In fact, next to my table was a tall, sculpted Saguaro cactus bedazzled with flower-shaped lights expressing a warm, relaxed pink hue. Before my food came, the waiter served me a generous helping of complimentary tortilla chips with a medium-sized bowl of salsa. The surprises continue, as multiple chips were colored in the green and red hues reminiscent of Mexico's flag, in celebration of Cinco De Mayo. Digging into the chips with gusto, I noted an excellent texture, satisfying crunch and balanced saltiness. Not too long afterwards, did my waiter bring all the dishes I had ordered including tamal con arroz, tacos de chorizo y tostones. What happened? I went a few months ago and everything was fantastic. Today, although the ambiance is great, albeit noisy as hell, and the service today was fantastic, the food was mediocre. Very little flavor in the enchiladas and salsa. Even the chips were just bland. The chicken, shredded, although abundant was a bit tough and chewy and not fully shredded but often in clumps. Worst still, was the house margarita. Rather than being individually made, they're made up in a big batch with house mix and and just slightly stronger than a glass of water. The menu is pretty large so it can be hard to figure out what to get. I started with a Paloma. The chips were crisp, and the salsa was loose. This is perfect for what I was hoping for. I ordered the queso fundido. I don't think it was remotely close but it was damn good. I got the deluxe plate or something close to that name. If had everything. Chile rilleno, enchilada, tamal, taco, beans rice, and a tostada. There was a massive portion of rice and beans. These are the rice and beans I remember at the TM places of my childhood. We were looking for a good Happy near Bensalem and stumbled upon this place. They do not have HH, but their regular prices beat everyone else's HH menus. The 32oz margarita was well worth the money and for a $5 quesadilla, there was A LOT of meat packed into the tortilla. The system for reserving seats is not the best, but we didn't end up waiting as long as they told us we would. I had such a great experience here! First, let me say that I'm a server so I tend to critique a little harder than the average person. Everyone was so kind - the host, the gentleman that brought the chips and salsa, the lady who made the guac at our table and our server. Our server was an older gentleman (sorry), shorter, white hair and beard - he was so sweet, so attentive and checked on us at the perfect times. I told him he was wonderful and I hope all of his guests tell him that too. The food was outstanding and came out fast. The original margarita wasn't my all time favorite but it was still pretty good. It was just by chance we found this place passing through and unfortunately for me, I live in New York. I've been going to this place for years. It's a staple off the Boulevard. Mostly folks from the neighborhood go here for cheap drinks and cheap food. The food quality is so-so; you get what you pay for -- greasy and everything smothered in cheese. I continue coming here, because it's comforting, and it's the same price as fast food. My recommendation is to come here for lunch, because there's a lot of good deals for lunch and portions are huge. You can't go wrong here. The fam sought something new. We'd been going to a nearby diner, but we decided to branch out again because most of our family loves Mexican food. Hubs and I got medium margaritas that came in the same goblets as the Friendly's Jim Dandy sundae. They made those drinks pretty quick too. We ordered food. It was amazing and we were happy with the quality and quantity of the food. This space is interesting and beautiful. It's made to feel like a restaurant on the streets of Mexico. Its walls are covered in interesting murals and when you look up, it feels like there are houses around you because of the faux (or maybe real) roofs that are surrounding. The lights have uniquely painted glass covers that contribute to the very faraway feeling of Las Margaritas. I hope you go try it out. I normally get mango margarita. It can get pretty loud in the restaurant so don't plan on coming here for a quiet meal. It's not a bad thing though. The crowd can be pretty lively. It used to be a great place to eat and drink but has really gone downhill. You can't get a lime in your margarita without begging or offering your first born. You order queso fundido and get regular queso 4 out of 5 times. Most times it's been runny.
