We stopped here on a whim and had an amazing experience. It seems like a pretty typical pub - low lighting, TVs on every wall a but the food was far superior to others I've been to in Philly. We got a couple of seafood dishes and the butter sauce was INCREDIBLE. We kept it just to dip the rest of our food in. I got a French Dip and fries and my husband got a seafood special. We got the lava cake for dessert and were pleasantly stuffed by the end of it. Our waitress was particularly great (I wish I could remember her name!). She was very friendly, helpful with recommendations, and efficient. Our food and drinks came out fast and she was constantly checking in. We were also pleasantly surprised at how low the bill was for how much food we had! If you're in the Northeast I would highly recommend stopping by! read more

Local hangout with good food. Not pictured but you should try are the Dagwood scallops. Large scallops covered in she crab soup and provolone cheese. Delish! She crab soup is worth the visit alone. It is creamy, seasoned perfectly and thick. A bowl could be a meal. The fried shrimp were huge, breaded well and fried to perfection. The seafood combo had clam casino, stuffed shrimp, scallops and deviled crab. Everything was fresh and tasty. My only negative was that I thought the clams casino was a little too salty. They are known for that so others must find it seasoned right. Good service is always the norm. We are never disappointed in our meals here. read more

Once again our food was delicious! My cheese steak came out piping hot on a delicious, fresh roll! The chips are nice and crunchy, too. My sister loved her chicken parmigiana, especially since the chicken was nice and crispy. It was a rainy day, so I decided on a crock of French onion soup - it was nice and cheesy and piping hot, as well. My sister enjoyed her she crab soup, too. She said it could have been hotter, but the flavor was awesome. Our waitress was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The staff that brought our food out were very helpful, too, always asking if there is anything else they could get us for our dishes. It's a casual bar atmosphere with a live DJ which makes you feel like you are really out :0) TVs for sports enthusiasts, as well. In the area? Check Them Out! read more

I have been past this spot many when in the Northeast and it always looked packed and like it was a party. Came here with a friend one night. There is a restaurant/club divide but you still here good music and the crowd is mixed age wise. Service was friendly. Portions are large and the pricing is super fair for what you get. Stop by if in the far northeast. read more

Rarely do I give a 5 star review but this place is a GEM... the food is beyond incredible! Never had a bad meal here. I've gotten the Vern Wings (great), the french onion burger (incredible), and tonight was one if not the greatest dish I've ever had. The filet medallions with ricotta gnocci in a gorgonzola cream sauce. Was it 3,000 calories and 100+ grams of fat? Probably lol. Worth it. If I had to choose a last meal... this may be it. read more

$36 for a dozen of the smallest oysters I ever seen! Food is way over priced for a corner bar.

The bartenders are great, the food is delicious, but if it's just two of you be prepared to sit at a table with plexiglass between you and other diners, which made me VERY uncomfortable. we've decided we're not going back unless we can get a seat at the bar or one of the tables along the wall in the front by the bar as I just don't like sitting on top of people. She Crab Soup is wonderful!! However, because of the food, the drinks and the people we will be back. read more

Looks like we were a couple days early for crabs so we had oysters and calamari then my son had mozzarella sticks and I had broiled scallops. The broiled scallops were a bit oily, I wiped them off in a napkin. Then we drove by yesterday after already having dinner and saw the crabs sign out. We will have to go back. Dagwoods is always a pretty solid choice . read more

First time here. Food: everything I ordered was very delicious. The mini crab cakes were one of the best I've had - no fillers - just a little bit pricey. Service: I arrived when they were a bit busy and there was a luncheon upstairs. Overall, the service was good, and the server made sure to check on me throughout my meal. Ambiance: There was music playing in the background, inside, which is on the louder side. There is an option to sit outside as well read more

The food is amazing. The best sheet crab soup I've ever had. I would definitely recommend this place over and over again.

Prime Rib sandwich was a salty for me. Ended up taking it home for someone else who likes salty.

What a great little find in Northeast Philadelphia. I was in town for an evening, found this place on Yelp and it looked intriguing. Parking was tricky, I had to wait in the bar for 15 minutes to get a seat at the bar, but it was all worth it! The French Onion soup was amazing and the sautéed crab cake sandwich was off the charts! Thank you as well for the great service at the bar! read more

Dagwoods is always pretty busy especially during prime time hours. I came here for a Saturday late lunch and there was no wait. They have the best she crab soup in the area! Also got an order of boneless bites; which were more like tenders and the portion size was massive! Great overall. read more

Really only had Mama G's Meatballs and boy can I tell you do not skip over this treat on the menu! I've had the platter and the sandwich and both are so good! The fresh ricotta in the middle of the platter is so good! The meatballs taste like your grandmothers family recipe! The garlic bread is a great finishing touch! The sandwich is actually those same famous meatballs sandwiched between that same garlic bread. I have a hard time choosing between the 2 but usually end up with the platter because of that cheesy goodness! If I'm the area give them a try, you will not be disappointed! There's a bar upstairs but seating is limited. read more

Yes, I do think this is well worth a try. I stopped in to see a friend, who suggested we have a drink around the corner. This place is off the beaten trail. Its warm and welcoming atmosphere made me feel comfortable--one long bar on one side and high tables with chairs on the other side of the room. The lights dim with the TVs on. The place was not even half full, but other patrons were at the bar. We ordered drinks: me a White Russian, my friend a draft beer, plus an order of fried pickles. My friend was a fried pickle virgin. So we ordered them, and there were enough for three people to eat. They were perfect, crispy, and hot with a ranch dressing. We both enjoyed them and our drinks. I would come back again and try something else off the bar menu. They serve American pub food, and cheese steaks, and they get fresh seafood in every day. Its great to watch a game or just to hang with friends and family. Cash or cards. It's clean and has a dining room for more formal events with an extensive menu. It's kid-friendly, but I would not take them into the bar room. I did not see or hear any children in the bar part of the building. That's just my opinion read more

The food was delicious and the service was good. My sister and I go here often . Always enjoyable! I am sure we will be back again. I had the steak with gnocchi in a flavorful cream sauce. The steak was tender but a little on the medium rare side and I prefer medium. The gnocchi was delicious! Dagwoods is a sports bar with a full bar and tvs for the games. Check them out! read more

Good food. A bit crowed but really great menu. Easy parking and the music was good too. Really enjoyed eating at this place. The waitresses were down to earth and funny. A lot of local People but u can't survive on just locals so word of mouth must be bringing them in because this place was crowed and it was a week night. My friend Kim has known about Dag's for awhile but finally suggested we go for a meal and I'm damn happy she finally did The menu is diverse and the soups are da bomb. Actually everything on the menu was tasty and was brought out quickly and was hot so no microwave being used at Dagwood's. read more

Butter cake dessert after an amazing prime rib dinner. First time here and the prices are good, Kathy was my server and she was super friendly and recommended some of their dishes, which I always appreciate. The prime rib was divine with super delish mashed potatos. Butter cake too sweet - wouldn't order again but it sure is pretty. The seating is pretty basic with average chairs with solid backs. Volume was low but sitting so close to my neighboring tables, I could hear both conversations. Could be distracting for people with hearing needs Overall a great experience. $64 for three glasses of pinot grigios, starter salad, huge steak, mashed potatoes, broccoli, butter cake - very reasonable. Will be back. read more

I have been going here for many years! Food is good, wait staff is good music is very loud. Recently prices have gone through the roof! I know prices are higher everywhere, however Dagwood's prices do not seem to be in line with this, they seem to be above and beyond. Also, I have noticed they are not nearly as crowded as in the past, even the las T few months! Perhaps they have out-priced themselves. Such a shame! read more

Our experience at the Dagwood's Pub was fantastic, we thought the staff really shared the mission to make each guest's visit memorable. I personally had the she crab soup that was the highlight of my meal, it was creamy with fresh tasting ingredients that made the start of my meal really stand out. I also enjoyed the fish taco from the afternoon specials that was big and delicious, not a small fish taco that I have had at other restaurants. The vibe in the restaurant area was of locals enjoying a bite and a drink after work or to just kick off the weekend. I observed many family and friends enjoying a late lunch or early dinner together, groups that assembled to not only enjoy good food and drink but the company of each other. As a visitor I enjoy eating in a local location that the neighborhood supports and shares the staff's vision to enjoy time with friends. Thanks for a memorable afternoon, my wife and I will be back to enjoy a meal again soon. read more

We have been to Dagwood's a bunch of times over the years. It is a fantastic place. Beautiful bar top, beautiful tin ceiling. The food is also wonderful. Today, I had the shaved pork sandwich which was on the lunch menu. You can have your choice of sides...fries, chips or salad. I chose salad. The salad was amazingly large for a side and delicious! The shaved pork sandwich was the best I have ever had! Seriously delicious! My husband had the kielbasa cheesesteak which he thoroughly enjoyed. The food here is incredible! Everything we have ever had is outstanding. The service was wonderful. We sat at the bar and the server was attentive but not obtrusive. We highly recommend! read more

This is an excellent place with a warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and tasty food -- isn't that what everyone hopes for? I do wish that some of their menu items listed with MP had clearer pricing, as it can sometimes feel a bit uncertain to ask about the cost. It leaves you curious about how often and how they decide on the daily prices. I noticed they have a chalkboard with the daily special price when you enter through the side door. Why not list all the MP prices directly on the chalkboard? By displaying those prices every day, it would make things much clearer and more comfortable for everyone. read more

We try to go there once a month. First the bad news. Parking is a challenge. You have to time it right to park within 50 yards of the door. Ask your hostess when it best time to come. The food is plentiful. Plan on coming hungry or order your box to go the same time you place your order. Best pub/sandwich place in the northeast. read more

If you're not a local in northeast Philly you would definitely drive by this place and think nothing of it. Even if you were to stumble in for a beer, by the atmosphere you would expect some run of the mill bar food, but you'd be strongly mistaken. There is a wide range of options from wings to gnocchi with large chunks of crabmeat and everything in between. It's a great atmosphere for dinner and hanging for drinks after and something for everyone on the menu to enjoy. The pricing is reasonable and the servings are always very large, which I love. I had to hold a star back for the sometimes very long waits when there is a party or a busy night even for take out can be an hour wait. With this in mind, probably worth a call ahead to avoid a longer wait. read more

Special Guest Cheesesteak, Executive Chef Jack McPeak's Prime Rib Cheesesteak. This was a great night to be the cheesesteak guy. Dagwood's is a great neighborhood bar/restaurant. Jack has a great team in the kitchen. There is a great team behind the bar. The Prime Rib is sliced and seasoned to near perfection. The roll works for this cheesesteak. The truffle cheese was a little heaven on my half of the cheesesteak and it was a little overbearing. Too much cheese is a good problem. This was an amazing cheesesteak. read more

Food 4 of 10. Service 9 of 10. Ambience is negligible. It's a bar. The singer has a day job, hopefully. The fried oysters (4) were terrible in taste and prepping. The Vern's wings were oily tasting and the accompanied and advertised Vern sauce was a hint of snapper soup-like gritty taste. It is going to be a while before we go back there . read more

We came here for my brothers birthday. I had never been here before and parking can get tricky. We stayed in the bar area, the bartenders were amazing. They do not have a fancy drink menu but they will make you anything you want. I loved that they had decent specials throughout the week. Mondays are $1 clams casino and $6 cheeseburgers. We ordered the clams casino, chicken tenders and fries, buffalo shrimp. The clams casino were huge and breading mixture on top was delicious. They do keep the clam whole. I really enjoyed the buffalo shrimp, they were colossal sized and the sauce had a very nice kick to it. The fries were crinkle cut. I would definitely come back and try some of their other food options. read more

Came here with a friend around the holidays for lunch and to pick up some holiday gift cards. First time diner. Disclaimer: we were both starving. My friend and I got the she-crab soup (so creamy and delicious; the bowl is filling, but saves room for at least half your entree). We split the mozzarella stick and meatballs. The sauce was just delicious. We also split entrees: seafood wrap and prime rib melt. We were so full though from the apps that we had to box those to go. I had the pleasure to enjoy both later and can't believe how good they were reheated/out of the fridge!! I highly recommend all the food we tried. Went back about a month later with my mom. She's never been. We both had a bowl of the soup. We split the seafood wrap and the white seafood pizza. More than enough food with leftovers again. This place is a neighborhood gem. I can't wait to go back and try other menu items. My only gripe is that the downstairs dining area is a bit cramped with tables very close together. No intimate convos here unless you don't mind your neighbor hearing ;-) read more
