Omg did I just find this hidden gem! Couple of my buddies told me to meet them here and I had no idea this place was present. It's tucked in a corner next to ace hardware store. First things first is the cleanliness is on point especially when you're dealing with seafood I expect a restaurant to be very clean it's easy to get sick with seafood. Second the server was very nice and kept up with us kept asking if we were okay and if we needed anything else I felt like she cared. I ordered fish tacos and all I have to say is this was the BEST fish tacos I've ever had, no joke it had avocado, sauce all the good stuff I should have bought more but it was amazing. On top of that it's 1 for $4 2 for $7 and 3 for $10 get 3 I got two and wish I would have bought 10!. They have a jukebox that has every type of music which is awesome if you are with friends to listen to some of your favorite music. I can't believe I missed this place everyone GO it's a must this place is too good to miss out on!.

    Rotten meat

Never eating here again. Ordered a 7 mares and some tostadas. The tostadas didn't have any flavor and the 7 mares had pieces that had GONE BAD! It smelled and tasted disgusting. It ruined our whole meal. I called them to let them know and their response was "I'll let the cook know" and then there was an awkward silence. Lost a customer forever and many more through word of mouth. Update: We also ordered an horchata that did not fail to disappoint. It tasted as if they had stored it for days in a fridge with raw seafood. wish I could give 0 stars.

I've been here three times now and have decided to finally leave a review. Service/cleanliness: the staff has always been very friendly and willing to help with questions regarding the menu. The restaurant has always been clean. That said there seems to always be flies around. I dont know if it's because of the area, time of day/year, or other. Just thought this was worth noting. Food: The first visit I had the shrimp cocktail. There was a generous amount of shrimp, that had been cleaned. However the sauce was average to me. Everyone has different taste buds, but for me the taste to this shrimp cocktail was just not what I was hoping for. The second visit I had the carne asada with grilled shrimp plate. The flavors in the shrimp as well as the steak were amazing! I loved it, and would definitely order it again. The sides of rice and beans were also packed with flavor. The only disappointment to this was the very basic corn tortillas. The third visit I had the mocajete and a fish taco. You typically can't go wrong with a mocajete, and this was not an exception. Packed with meat and flavor. It also had cactus which was a nice addition since most places dont do that. YES, the fish taco is as good as everyone says! The flavor in the fish was amazing, especially after I squeezed my lime over it. That said, the fish tacos come with a secret sauce that tastes like mayo and ketchup with something else mixed in. While it's good, I recommend not using it as it hides the flavor of the taco.

i absolutely love mariscos and couldnt pass the opportunity of coming to this beautiful restaurant. when i first walked in i noticed it was very clean. a woman greeted us. asked us to sit wherever we wanted. she brought out some tasty chips with a really good green salsa. we started off by ordering a dozen oysters. they were fresh and properly washed. no dirt whatsoever. then we ordered un molcajete de mariscos. estilo a la diabla. the sauce was absolutely delicious and the meal itself was more than enough. great food, great service, will be coming back.

    Nice menu.

Had seafood here that had gone bad, I called back and they didn't offer an apology or any kind of refund. Worst seafood spot in Salinas.

I was confused when ordering online because I felt as I might over order since everything they sell is by the pound. When we walked in there was only one other table that was finishing up. the staff were welcoming and nice , we were helped with right away too. The food was amazing I literally have been telling everyone about this place now and tell them to forget Bag O Crab this place is better and for the price too it's worth it specially if you like sea food boil this place is amazing and I made the mistake of putting light cajon seasoning because it was sooo good and perfect spice too. Plan on doing another take out order on Valentine's Day! I can't wait to eat your food again ;)

I am glad I didn't order the crab because I would have been pretty disappointed to pay for something inedible. Not to exaggerate but the Cajun shrimp I ordered looked like it was in motor oil with bottom of the barrel sediment. Inches of it literally burnt spices or something. The bag color was like brown black. Not to mention that the shrimps were overcooked and some were chalky. Super hard to take the shells off of how overcooked they were. We chose to give this place a try since online it stated it was better than bag of crab. But man were we mistaken. Go to bag of crab instead.

And this is the…read morefirst time that I chose to eat at an establishment but based on treatment ended up walking out and not dining at all. Usually I wouldn't waste my time on an experience like this but I really believe this is something only management can fix. So here goes. Let me start by saying the name created no appeal to me as a potential hungry customer. Couple that with overall 3 star reviews and I would normally just skip that establishment. But when the wife and daughter are hungry I make concessions. This was no exception, it was a rainy day so I made a point of having them go into the restaurant while I parked. Of note, PLENTY of parking on a monday. I park and enter the restaurant a few mins later where I am told the staff would not seat them until all party members were there as that is the restaurant Policy. I scanned the restaurant and it was almost empty, noting that there were more staff than customers and they were all grouped up passing time by chatting with one another. Since almost all seating is for four or more persons it seems unreasonable to not allow a mother and child to be seating while the other parent parks the vehicle on a rainy day. It felt more like we were an inconvenience to the staff. And I am unwilling to support an establishment with my hard earned money when they choose to treat my family that way. So we left, drove a half mile to a nearby Thai restaurant with 100 reviews and a 4.7 rating and proceeded to drop nearly $100 there for good food that was worth my time and money as well as no disrespect. And for that treatment.... Priceless. Management needs to train their staff better, treat the patron with respect as they are what will ultimately keep you in business. And rethink applying what seems like apparent poor policies on a restaurant that clearly could use more customers. But I foresee a bankruptcy in your future. For those out there looking for good food and to be treated properly, Salinas offers so many better options. Recommend you choose those.

I guess the Laurel Inn is not the hotel it used to be, but that doesn't take away from Las Islitas Grill. It looks like a diner/bar with a heavily Mexican theme. There was only four of us patrons in the restaurant and one bartender/server. He graciously put the Giants game on the TVs when I asked and offered me a beverage and chips and salsa (medium hot) right away. It took a while to figure out what I wanted from the extensive menu. Since I went in for seafood I chose a Tostada Mixta, with fresh tasting (and smelling) shrimp, octopus and imitation crab on an equally fresh tostada, it came with lime. It was better than another place I have that dish regularly at, I was surprised. I added some of the mild salsa from the chips to the dish and it popped it up very well. When my Caldo de Camaron, Pulpa, y Abulon arrived I was surprised how big it was. It was served with limes, chopped cilantro, chopped red onion, green salsa (that the server warned me was hot), and tortillas (I ordered flour). It had a tomato base and was loaded with tomato, onion, green pepper, and lots of shrimp, octopus and even the abalone. Adding the lime juice helped to cut through the richness of the soup. Like the glutton that I am, I slurped the soup from the bowl to expose more of the seafood, which I shoveled into pieces of tortilla and seasoned with some of the onion and cilantro and added small drips of both kind of salsas and each bite was a joy to taste. I'm almost sorry that I didn't take the time to take pictures of these two delicious dishes but I was hungry when I went in, and having those delicacies put in front of me, I just had to dig in. For a place that doesn't seem to get a lot of business the seafood sure was fresh. I will totally come back, this place is GOOD!
