Omg did I just find this hidden gem! Couple of my buddies told me to meet them here and I had no idea this place was present. It's tucked in a corner next to ace hardware store. First things first is the cleanliness is on point especially when you're dealing with seafood I expect a restaurant to be very clean it's easy to get sick with seafood. Second the server was very nice and kept up with us kept asking if we were okay and if we needed anything else I felt like she cared. I ordered fish tacos and all I have to say is this was the BEST fish tacos I've ever had, no joke it had avocado, sauce all the good stuff I should have bought more but it was amazing. On top of that it's 1 for $4 2 for $7 and 3 for $10 get 3 I got two and wish I would have bought 10!. They have a jukebox that has every type of music which is awesome if you are with friends to listen to some of your favorite music. I can't believe I missed this place everyone GO it's a must this place is too good to miss out on!.

    Rotten meat

Never eating here again. Ordered a 7 mares and some tostadas. The tostadas didn't have any flavor and the 7 mares had pieces that had GONE BAD! It smelled and tasted disgusting. It ruined our whole meal. I called them to let them know and their response was "I'll let the cook know" and then there was an awkward silence. Lost a customer forever and many more through word of mouth. Update: We also ordered an horchata that did not fail to disappoint. It tasted as if they had stored it for days in a fridge with raw seafood. wish I could give 0 stars.

I've been here three times now and have decided to finally leave a review. Service/cleanliness: the staff has always been very friendly and willing to help with questions regarding the menu. The restaurant has always been clean. That said there seems to always be flies around. I dont know if it's because of the area, time of day/year, or other. Just thought this was worth noting. Food: The first visit I had the shrimp cocktail. There was a generous amount of shrimp, that had been cleaned. However the sauce was average to me. Everyone has different taste buds, but for me the taste to this shrimp cocktail was just not what I was hoping for. The second visit I had the carne asada with grilled shrimp plate. The flavors in the shrimp as well as the steak were amazing! I loved it, and would definitely order it again. The sides of rice and beans were also packed with flavor. The only disappointment to this was the very basic corn tortillas. The third visit I had the mocajete and a fish taco. You typically can't go wrong with a mocajete, and this was not an exception. Packed with meat and flavor. It also had cactus which was a nice addition since most places dont do that. YES, the fish taco is as good as everyone says! The flavor in the fish was amazing, especially after I squeezed my lime over it. That said, the fish tacos come with a secret sauce that tastes like mayo and ketchup with something else mixed in. While it's good, I recommend not using it as it hides the flavor of the taco.

i absolutely love mariscos and couldnt pass the opportunity of coming to this beautiful restaurant. when i first walked in i noticed it was very clean. a woman greeted us. asked us to sit wherever we wanted. she brought out some tasty chips with a really good green salsa. we started off by ordering a dozen oysters. they were fresh and properly washed. no dirt whatsoever. then we ordered un molcajete de mariscos. estilo a la diabla. the sauce was absolutely delicious and the meal itself was more than enough. great food, great service, will be coming back.

    Nice menu.

Had seafood here that had gone bad, I called back and they didn't offer an apology or any kind of refund. Worst seafood spot in Salinas.

The staff were very friendly, and while the music was a bit loud and the decor is fairly minimal, everything was clean and well maintained. The food is made to order and clearly prepared with quality ingredients. The lumpia were excellent. I ordered them without the ranch seasoning because I find it very salty, and I'm not a fan of the accompanying dip for the same reason. Honestly, they're good enough on their own. The Cajun Parmesan wings were cooked perfectly, but I didn't get much Cajun flavor from them. I'd probably try a different wing flavor next time. The fries were great, and the ranch was even better. The Mongolian beef was another standout. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender, and flavorful. There were plenty of onions, which I loved. It was a little heavy on the sauce, but still very enjoyable. Prices are a bit higher than average, but the quality justifies the cost. It's a locally owned business that's definitely worth checking out and, in my opinion, much better than most restaurants in Salinas.

I lived in the Bay Area for several years, and this is honestly the closest you'll get in flavor. There is usually a wait, but that's the same experience at Boiling Crab. Me and boyfriend came in as a party of 2 with the possibility of one more as the other party just got off of work and already ate and only coming for a drink. We walked in at exactly 4:30pm and the place was not busy. They asked for how many and I said 3 they then stated to us that we must have the entire party before we are seated. This is the first time this has happened to us. I may understand this as most restaurants do this but for it being 4:30, with multiple booths and tables open, no rush, staff just sitting in empty booths, no waitlist, how can they not accommodate this? I understand restaurants have policies that are important, but what happened to hospitality. Dining out is not only about serving good food it's also about providing thoughtful, welcoming service. When the restaurant is clearly not busy, a little flexibility and basic consideration can make a significant difference in a customer's experience. A post like this can easily be avoided if there was a bit of empathy. The food is good so I leave this a 3.

The restaurant has a great drink selection and a great menu. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they offer a Tuesday dinner special that includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for only $32! This menu also had a special drink selection. I ordered the house salad, prawn risotto, and chocolate lava cake. The salad was very fresh with spring mix and butter lettuce, which I especially enjoy, and it was topped with a light vinaigrette style house dressing that was light and delicious. The prawn risotto was creamy, flavorful, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The chocolate lava cake was rich and very chocolatey, a bit too rich for my personal taste, but still enjoyable. It also came with vanilla gelato, which was delicious. As a table, we also ordered the tableside tiramisu, which was such a fun and unique experience. I am a tiramisu connoisseur, so anytime I see it on the menu, I ordered it. It is my favorite dessert. Although this was not my favorite one, I very much enjoyed the experience. I will mention the espresso needs a little more time to fully soak into the ladyfingers, but the presentation and experience alone made it worth trying. The ambiance was lovely with nice background music, and the service was attentive and welcoming. Everyone in our party truly enjoyed their meal, especially the birthday girl. Everyone was tired and hangry. Las Islitas was the logical choice. The kids wanted hamburgers and nuggets with fries. My wife wanted a carne asada super burrito and some empanadas. Me? I wanted some menudo. It was a Sunday, so I was hoping it would be on the menu. So I went to go get the food to go while the family stayed at the hotel. I took maybe five steps out of our room towards this place. I swear, I could already hear the music blaring. By the time I walked in, I knew it was a good idea to take the food to go. Hours later, my ears are still ringing. They had some karaoke going in inside, and everyone looked like they were having fun. But these people were legitimately trying to wake the dead with a side of salsa. Another bummer for me was that the whole menu was in Spanish. I scanned the entire menu but couldn't find menudo. If any place would have menudo on its menu, it would be a place like this. I asked the guy taking orders if they had it. Nope. Do not pass go. Do not collect any hangover food. So I ordered a super carne Asada burrito and doubled the order of empanadas (it comes with three per order). The food came out in about 15-20 minutes, and the people working there were pretty nice. The carne asada super burrito as pretty good. I'd probably give it a solid 8 out of 10. However, the empanadas were AMAZING. They were hot, crispy, and had great flavor. Be sure to order them with cheese. I could have just eaten five or six of them and been totally satisfied. So overall, I only took off one star for the lack of menudo and the earsplitting music inside. Otherwise, the food was really good. Definitely worth a shot if you're in the area.
