A fresh look (remodeling) and new managers, Las Islas Bar & Grill has never been better. I have worked in this area for about 10 years. So I was going to this place at least since 2015 or 16. Now we live in Berwyn since 2017 and this is always been our go to place. The service is fast. Everyone has been super nice and they even stayed open during the pandemic with outdoor seating (I actually really miss the outdoor vibes.) Whenever we're in the mood for something delicious and fast, we always end up coming here. It's a plus they have beer because some places don't have alcoholic beverages. While I'm not a big cocktail drinker, they have cocktails too and delicious micheladas. Such a good, solid place and always good quality and good service every time we've been there over the last five or six years at least !! I'm embarrassed we've enjoyed it so much and never done a review! read more

Leaving one star because I can't leave zero . Our drinks had ZERO alcohol in them and when we complained the waitresses came out with "complimentary" shots laughing at us MIND you they served an underage person a shot as well. Should I report them for this? Maybe. Anyway, our tortillas also had mold on them. read more

Outstanding food and outstanding service! First of all, Lety provided excellent, attentive service. We immediately got some delicious ceviche as appetizers followed by delicious drinks including micheladas and cantaritos. If you are looking for good seafood, drinks, and ambience, this is the place for you. It was my dad's birthday and they made it extra special by surprising us with a song and cake! Oh yes! The live music was a HUGE plus! Viva el Groupo Estampe read more

the food, and service is terrible. We get into the restaurant and they tell us to charge $20 just to get in the restaurant because they have live music then we have to pay another three dollars with our price if we use a credit card beside that we were also ordering take out and we had to tell the person who was telling us to pay 20$, to get away. I asked for a ceviche and they gave me a little portion they also are overpriced. Don't go there it's terrible and disgusting. read more

Honestly It was horrible too overpriced and the food is really not all that ! We had went to go hear the live groups so I did stay a bit long seems like the waitresses don't acknowledge you if you don't buy a bottle! And they gave us a to go box when we didn't order one kinda made me feel uncomfortable and rushed to leave! read more

Price super high for the quality of food. Since they changed the management prices are ridiculous. They dont even have a website or a menu where you can actually see the menu and the real prices. On top of that they charge a fee for paying with your card. What kind of bussines does that without letting you know first?

Hmmm, really surprised that this business is not on yelp yet. Oh!! I know why!! It's because this place is as authentic as it gets!!!! Only one waitperson spoke english!!! We were heading over to try this tapas place in Berwyn, but it was closed for the holidays. We passed this place and I was entranced by the neon crab in the window and i believe i saw the word "mariscos", which is something sea or ocean-related, right? So, I'm sent in to be the pigeon and I asked for a menu and was met with smiles. Eventually, they figured out what I was looking for and the one server who spoke english handed me a menu. Okay, we're in. The first thing they do is serve you some yummy fried tortillas with some shrimp ceviche and hot minced jalapenos. With the help of our waitress, we ordered the empanadas, some Guacamole, Platillo de langostinos, Tilapia filet soup, Queso fundido with shrimp and some pineapple thing: Piña rellena, basically a pineapple filled with shrimp, scallops, clams, and crabs with white sauce topped with broiled cheese and it has a hint of coconut flavor. Unique!! OMG! dinner was not cheap, but well worth it. the langostinos were out of this world. i swear it tasted like it had some salty shrimp paste (asian) used as the marinade. but they were crazy addictive. the pineapple thing was very rich and very tasty. if you want authenticity, go here. i swear i felt like i was in mexico. the place was filled with mexican families with children and mexican couples on dates. cool experience. read more

Will never come back here again and the servers don't even welcome anyone walking through the door. They take their sweet time and have a careless way to them. Hopefully the food is decent. Least favorite Islas. I added a ton of ketchup, lime, salt and Valentina to my coctel. It was a party of 3 and the tip was included... which is fine sometimes but not today. Our food was delayed due to a problem in the kitchen. I'm ok with that too but we received the guacamole after the cooked food. That was def an item that could've been brought beforehand. Our waitress was a bit forgetful and it wasn't even that packed. read more

Parking is bad, Staff is nice. Place is clean. Food is good but the pices are high for the amount of food you get. Maybe they can increase there portion sizes. $20 for this small charolla of langostinos is not worth it. Other places give more for that price. read more

I wish I could give this restaurant 0 stars. Super over priced for nasty seafood. The shrimp in the ceviche was actually grey just meaning it was under cooked. When brought the waitress attention I asked if i could switch it with the pescado ceviche instead and just flat out told me no then refused to take my plate off the table. The carne asada and grilled chicken was completely overcooked and took entirely too long to get to our table. And to top it all off when the bill came to our surprise it was alot higher than we thought it was going to be. The prices on every single thing we ordered from the menu were at least three dollars higher on the bill. So please listen to my warning and stay far away. read more

Not being mean but I dont know why this place is still in business ? I took the family of 5 out today and if it wasn't that the tip was already on it I would have not given them one. Service is slow, the drinks are terrible and the food is tasteless. I had the levanta muertos and is was a full plate of jambalaya. It looks like the cook just put a whole bunch of crap together. I hope I dont die of food poisoning. Next time I will just get some J&J fish instead. End result this place sucks. If u work hard for your money go somewhere else. read more

Always a good meal, service is fine as well- but they are not going to bother you- a server will stop by and ask if all is good, and then I can ask for beer or more of what we may need. That's perfect service to me. Everything I've had there is good- shrimp dishes, red snapper, drinks - all tasty and consistently prepared. I love the shrimp a la diabla, spicy but not terrifying! They don't rush you out the door even when it's crowded and I like the family atmosphere. On a week night, when it's slower, it's a nice comfortable place to relax over your meal and watch some soccer. Complimentary ceviche and tostadas when you sit down which is nice and tasty; chilled beer mugs which is a bonus and I am always satisfied with my meal and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food. It's my go-to neighborhood place for a nice meal. read more

Not a kid friendly place i asked for a chicken taco for my son and the waitress. Said we don't have tacos. Wth its a Mexican restaurant. Also my husband asked for a tamarindo jarritos and she gave him tamarindo juice. Disappointed customer. In no way did she give good service. By the way I'm the lady that sat at table 16 last night 8/2/19 i will be stopping in to speak to manager and will comment all over the net.. my review of this restaurant. Its important to keep good restaurants in the neighborhood and get the bad out. read more

Horribe... Horrible... The shrimp cocktail was awful worst I ever tasted. The waitress said that's because it is made Nayarit style they do not any condiments. It tasted like precooked shrimp with added water (with blended tomato sauce) and onions. I did tell the waitress and she said she would exchange it. I said, "no thank you". (That was scary)The fish soup smelled awful. It tasted really bad. WE will never go back. Worst spent $50 in our life. Overpriced and horrible! read more

No no no. You don't put cucumbers in my Coctel de Camaron. You just don't. I'll blame myself though for not asking them how they prepared it. I was so excited coming here after work one day. All I wanted was a little ceviche and alot of Coctel. I got both. The ceviche was really good. Not amazing good, but very much enjoyed by me and my wife. I made the mistake of ordering the Coctel warm instead of cold. My bad. I'm really giving myself 3 stars and not them since I fucked up my order in various ways. But since I'm not a restaurant I can't give that rating to myself. I'd probably be biased and give myself a 5. But, I digress. I'll have to give this spot another chance, that way I review their food properly instead of my choices poorly. I give Las Islas and I 3 zau's. On a side note, my wife also reviewed this place right after we ate here. You can probably find her review below me. Get it...BLOW ME. Double side note, I finally learned how to make my own Coctel de Camaron. Hand's down the best. I give my own Coctel 5 Zau's. If there was a Zau rated guide, it would be the top rated. It's not bias it's just fact. read more

First I hate places that can't charge separate checks and this place is one, WTF! I order the ceviche de pescado and GUACALA! this looked like they ran it through the blender and tasted like tomato and onions. Should have asked how they prepare. My buddy had the huachinango al mojo d ajo which was ok just a lil dry. Felt disappointed since this mexican seafood places have somewhat of a good reputation but found it not everything they say is true. I might give it one more try with something else different but ill make sure this time I like the way they prepare it. Service was excellent, the place is nice, clean and they have a bar with lots of TEQUILA and other liquors! read more

Came here even though had subpar ratings and was pleasantly pleased. The pescado ceviche they give is good. I mean for free cmon. Oh and make sure make sure you order the torero drink its awesome. read more

Worst experience ever, just left this place and will never go back. My food smelled awful, I called the manager and told him about the food smell and he just replied just add more lime or hot sauce food is good. I explained him that this wasn't my first time eating seafood and he replied that seafood smells varies depending on restaurants. Really? I told him I was not going that food and he said you still have to pay for it, I hope I don't get sick. read more

My girlfriend and I are frequent customers at the restaurant. We have always ordered the same thing , it's become tradition. This morning we came in and ordered the usual, unfortunately the "langostinos" did not taste the same as they usually do. So , we politely asked the waitress if there were any way that the cook could try and fix it, the waitress politely agreed and took them back. Five min later she came back explaining that the cook did not want to fix them. It's really disappointing that a restaurant that we trusted would handle a situation so carelessly. When the bill came we noticed that we had been charged for the Langostinos so we asked he server why and she said she couldn't discount it. Overall horrible experience , not sure I'll be stepping foot there again. read more

My frienf took me here for a little birthday dinner. The restaurant is pretty run down and outdated. I'm usually okay with that since those are the best places to get some good food. The food was really nothing special, and the service SUCKED. there was only maybe 2 or 3 tables seated and we waited a long time for all parts of our meals. The most disappointing were the drinks and guacamole. We ordered a pina colada and it had no alcohol in it, we complained and they brought back the same drink just mixed. The guacamole was like nothing I've ever had. It honestly tasted like they mixed hidden valley ranch seasoning in it. Really? I'm used to getting bad service from stuck up waitresses but this place takes the cake. I would never ever ever go back. Let's review: service was bad, drinks were bad, food was okay, and restaurant was outdated and dingy. read more

The food was delicious including our beverages (Michelada and toro). Definitely was pricey due to the small portions my plate was $27 (shrimp) and my husband $17 (langostinos). My plate of shrimp did not fill me up. Empanadas de camarón with queso were good. Will come again for a drink and an appetizer. read more

Not great. The other locations way better. Slow service and most of the staff looked grumpy like they were in forced labor. Found HAIR in my shrimp fajitas -DISAPPOINTING to say the least! Ordered children's quesadillas instead. And she was trying to bill me $17 for 1 quesadilla -really. I think I still got ripped off for charging $7 for 2 tortillas with cheese. Waitress was gracious enough so I didn't have to make a stink. I had hope for this place but i will not return. I felt I had hair in my throat all night! Again not great. read more

I enjoy Seafood but this location has absolutely horrific service that I will never return! We were sitting down for at least 10 minutes before anybody even noticed us & the only reason our waitress came to our table was because we told someone to call our waitress! The waitress arrives & doesn't apologize! She doesn't return until the food is served and bam she's gone for the rest of the night! My dad nearly chocked because he finished his drink and she was never to be found! As I get up to leave she shows up asking if we need anything else??? Um too late sweety! It's a shame because this place is bringing down Islas reputation! I'd suggest trying the Islas in villa park, their servers at least come to your table more than twice! read more
