Service is very slow, checks are also slow to come out. The food was excellent, and a seat by the window is relaxing

Firstly the décor - As it is also a gallery, there's a lot of art on display. There is also a great selection of vintage furniture, props and other items scattered around the space.. As we entered we were told that everything that you see is available to buy. There is so much to see in this place it would be hard to get bored. Next, the bar - The staff on the bar are incredible. They obviously knew what they were doing - they are friendly, professional and the cocktails taste amazing. Finally, the food - Again, simply incredible. I don't think I have ever had Chorizo like the meat that they serve here (it just melted in my mouth). I don't think that this was the most authentic tapas that I have tasted, and it has more of a cultured feel, but it was great all the same. Overall, I absolutely loved this place and can't wait to go back.

You also realise the bouncer is SO nice and helpful!! This is a classic case of dont judge a book by its cover.....my bad.... At first you walk down a corridor of artwork then through a reception room filled floor to cealing with beautiful items. You go through one more door to the bar and resturant space which has a higher ceiling bit is still filled with beautiful goods, some of which are for sale of you have the $$. We went to the bar at the back of the space and chatted with both the bar man and the owner of the place....again two lovely people that were more than happy to chat us through the idea of the venue and the ideas they have for its use moving forward. Drinks wise there are a lot of spirits and cocktails to choose from . As I was with LIv from Licor 43 we went for a signature serve with pineapple and 43. It was really smooth and balanced I would definately recommend it. We didnt have the food other than a cracker with some pate to sample (free of charge....very nice of them) but the menu is tapas....expect a review soon! If you havent been here yet.....do it....asap. Its a really beautiful and welcoming place with a lot to offer the area. You can be a lover of good drink, art or just bars in the area to appreciate somewhere of this quality :D Obviously.....5*

There is a small bar to enjoy a tipple in before been seated in a relaxed but up-market dining area. If you visit during the daytime there is a huge lawn with stunning views that you can have drinks or food on. The menu is contemporary British with a Mediterranean twist. The food has always been good here along with the service. However, my friends and I agree that the menu could probably do with a bit of an update or shake-up; it's been the same for too long. The last time we visited we enjoyed the sample bites to share (a great idea for a mixed starter for the table.) I also had the risotto which was very good. As always a fairly competent meal out. The albondigas tasted like my mom's Mexican albondigas? I'm not trying to be rude....but they tasted like Mexican style? The potato's were whatever. I've had better Spanish food across the continent? How does that happen? No idea. News to me. I should have researched this place before coming. You've been warned.

Tapas Revolution (TR) is a chain of Spanish restaurants in the UK owned by Spanish celebrity chef,…read moreOmar Allibhoy. Having had a good experience at TR at Meadowhall in Sheffield, I was eager to try out their branch located in Birmingham's Grand Central (close to Nando's), especially after receiving a 50% off food coupon which they send when you sign up to their loyalty scheme, which is probably the strangest loyalty scheme ever as after signing up once you only receive further discounts if you're a student with an ac email address, and even then you can only claim on Monday's! I ordered three tapas - Paella with Chicken - Tortilla (Spanish Omelette) with aioli - Chorizo with potatoes and a fried egg. Sadly my favourite two tapa dishes normally, the Albiognas and Potatoes Bravas both weren't gluten-free, the latter was down to a shared fryer. I mean come on Omar, why can't you have a dedicated gluten-free fryer at your restaurants when you could be making what is a limited selection for coeliacs, much better. At full price, I wouldn't say it represents value for money but they do seem to do lunch offers which make it a little more reasonable but the gluten-free selection as a whole just seems limited. Most of my food was good, the main flaw was the potato, chorizo and egg dish was a little overcooked and there wasn't much chorizo at all meaning it wasn't as enjoyable as I'd have liked; my friend also ordered this and she got some shell in her food which is careless. I did really enjoy my tortilla which is probably the best Spanish tortilla I've had, which is a Spanish omelette with potato and onion, I liked how they also put some aioli on the side to give it a bit of a kick and to avoid dryness. My paella also was pretty good, they did seem to use the darker parts of the chicken however rather than just breast meat which I didn't like. The service and staff were pretty poor and made some awful mistakes which I hope were mistakes for my own sanity: - They tried to give me bottled water instead of tap water, meaning this would have cost me more if I didn't confirm it multiple times - They tried to sit my friend down again at a table as she was waiting outside for me as I was just finishing up, even though the same waitress has just served us to take payment 60 seconds prior to the aforementioned. - I began to check an email on my phone and another server tried to take my food away right in front of me, without acknowledging me or even asking me if I was finished. 3* - The food was pretty good, but each dish did appear to have a flaw, it is a little pricey but if you can get a good deal it is one of the better places to eat in Grand Central. They really do need to work on their workers making basic, cringeworthy mistakes though!

We had three under 5's in tow but hadn't thought to book in advance as we were eating during the early evening. The staff, especially the male waiter, couldn't enough for us. Two high chairs were found immediately and given an extra clean for good measure. They found us a great table straight away - even though there were 5 adults and three children. The children were supplied with colouring sheets and crayons which they were delighted with. As a mixed veggie and meat eating party we ordered quite a lot of stuff from the menu. My only small grumble is the size of the menu. It is a tapas restaurant and there is a good choice of breads and salads, but the mains only come to 6 or 7 choices each for veggie and meat. Oh and the olives, I think better olives should be the norm in a Spanish restaurant. However, they definitely know what they are doing. Two things weren't available on the menu as they couldn't be sourced in the morning from the market. So everything is super fresh. All of the food, veggie and meat alike, was delicious and even though we were stuffed we tried not to leave any food! They even wrapped our leftovers. They have Zumba classes upstairs and events on the weekend. A really great place, food and service are outstanding and it just goes to show that sometimes the best places are right on your doorstep!

I ended up adding fair amounts water to soften the sugary taste down a bit. However encountered better luck with the choice of our food as both starters just blew away everyone on our table. We decided to get both of the Sharing Boards and oh gosh, brilliant decision as the food was excellent! 1) Bao Bun Board: just super delicious. I liked the crispy hoisin duck more than the BBQ pulled pork, and also liked the self service aspect of this (you had to make your own Bao bun). Really appreciated that they served generous amounts of the stuffing elements for the bun and all 4 items just complemented each other. 2) Age Board: the blackened chicken and tempura cauliflower bites were amazing! As were the accompanying sauces. The duck spring rolls were okay, but definitely for our group the chicken & cauliflower won when it came to tastiness. The cauliflower bites especially just super crisp while the chicken was so moist and with just super delicious spices! We should have stopped there and ordered dessert instead next, but we didn't realize so had also ordered mains! I got the Shio Ramen; other members of our group got the Bibimbap with Shrimp; Kung Pao Chicken; and Chow Mein. Btw, if you are worried that the menu selection seems all over the place when it comes to Asian food with Japanese, Korean, Sichuan Chinese & Hong Kong being represented with the menu choices our group made, I want to reassure anyone reading this review, that the food is tightly focused and the restaurant is Pan-Asian rather than Fusion Asian cuisine, so it all tastes fairly authentic. I had a taste of the Bibimbap and it was deliciousness! I think I might have enjoyed my Shio Ramen more if I wasn't already massively full from the Entree's. However if I return back to the restaurant, I won't get this ramen menu item again - I wanted a wee bit more vegetables plus the broth was a bit too bland for my taste. I put in copious amounts of dark soy spice and chili oil to spice it up. I also don't think the taste of the semi-cured chashu pork belly as the protein in the ramen was all that great. Don't get me wrong, the pork tasted delicious, but I wanted more of the fat to be present and mix with the ramen broth and instead it was more smoky taste elements. Overall however, service was great and as mentioned previously, those two starters hit it out of the park. I'd definitely return and get those two tasting boards again! Yelp 172/ 2019
