My wife and I tried this place on a whim today, with high hopes after reading some reviews. We were both more than a little let down. The service was fair. Our server room a while to realize that we had been sat in his section, but once he noticed he was friendly - albeit a little hard to understand. The food was drastically subpar. Our chips were stale. My wife's chicken fajita nachos had so little chicken that we actually couldn't tell there was chicken. I got a build your own combination. My chile relleno was sitting in a half inch deep pool of water. My quesadilla was thrown on the water, bean, and rice mixture. Unfortunately, the kindness of the server can't make up for the food quality. He netted himself a nice tip, but we won't be returning to this poor excuse for a restaurant. read more

I love this place. The food is wonderful. I recommend the fajita taco salad with beef, the fried tacos again with beef and the Caldo de Pollo soup. If you like a chunkier salsa order some pico de gallo and mix with their regular salsa for the chips. This is one of my favorite places to go. read more

Very disappointed. I raved about this place to my husband so we came here for dinner. The place was not very busy but there was a happy hour group at the bar that was so obnoxious and a waitress that loudly discussed her personal life with them. She was hasty but kept drinks filled and got our order right. However, the kitchen burned our food. I don't think we will go back. My wife and I have visited twice now. We Weren't impressed either time. The food failed to please. It's very cramped, if you get a booth you are in good shape, but the tables in the middle are cramped and crowded. The chips are not the best, they tasted stale and as if they were from a bag. My wife had the Cadillac margarita and said it was one of the worst and had a weird sweet taste. A lot of Mexican places in St Louis are not that good and I have had some nice but ordinary meals at this one. I think the 3 stooges were running the kitchen last night. The chips were all broke into small pieces and very hard, stale. The chicken quesadilla was chicken and cheese in to flour tortilla folded in half with no browning on either side. I could not understand the scoop of green beans as a side, really? The refried beans were canned red beans that someone tried to smash with a fork. Salsa could use some improvement. read more

Not the best Mexican food but Las Fuentes has a fun atmosphere and huge margaritas. I have been here twice because I live nearby. The food and service have been decent. The place is pretty crowded on a Friday night. I thought the enchiladas with red sauce were mediocre but the chile rellenos was pretty good. read more

My family recently moved to the area and was looking for a good Mexican restaurant so we thought we'd try Las Fuentes. It was a mistake. The salsa was very runny and the chips were stale. I had a chicken enchilada and the chicken was bland and dry. My children ordered off the kids menu and their hamburger and hot dog came wrapped in aluminum foil, which seemed odd. My daughter's hamburger was partly frozen on the edge. For the money paid for the meal I could have taken them to Qdoba twice and gotten better food. Yes, it's a typical "authentic" Mexican restaurant. However, it gets 4 instead of 3 stars because of the margaritas, queso, and dessert. RECOMMEND: Quesadilla norteña, queso dip, house margarita, tacos, tortilla soup, xongos (dessert item) Service is good, except for one male waiter who never comes back to your table and will make you wait forever for the bill. read more

I really loved this place. My boyfriend and I went there with a groupon one Friday night not knowing what to expect. Neither of us had been there before. They were quite crowded (it was Friday after all) but we were seated right away in a table toward the back of the restaurant in what looked like a hallway near the restroom. I was okay with this because they had a tv at the end of the hall playing the cardinals game :) I'm not sure if they do this every night, but while we were there, there was a mariachi duo playing music. They were super friendly and talented, and they even stopped by our table to play "hotel California" in Spanish. This really made for a unique personal experience. I only wish I had brought cash to tip them but they didn't seem to mind. The service was very attentive and fast, and the food was good too. I had the chicken chimichanga and it was everything I expected. They also had free chips and salsa for the table that I liked as well. Overall, this might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant. I will probably drive out of my way to go there. read more

Usually a great experience, not so much tonight. The first three of us on the seating list were told 5-10 minutes and we each had 2 or less in our parties. Then everyone coming in after us have 4 or more in their parties. All but like 2 tables in the restaurant seat more than 2. The next table that opens has 4 seats and she seats a party of 4 who walked in a good 10 minutes after us. Oh and the bar area we could not sit because these larger parties were crowded in there so that was NOT an option for the smaller parties to eat at the bar. We all had expected to wait a little as it was national margaritas day, but they also sent us notifications today about their specials since we are in the frequent diner club. The hostess had told us 5-10 minutes and know this is estimate. When the first party question these later arrivals being seated her response was the owner said we will lose money if we seat smaller parties at a table for 4 so if that is what is open first you have to wait until a smaller table opens. Well that means we will be in line all night waiting on the two tables we are allowed to be seated. The poor girl eating alone will never get seated. We asked to speak to an owner or manager. So guy came up who was very rude telling us he was trying to diffuse the situation. There would not have been one had they not used common sense. Now if a bigger table for 6 opened and you sat the 4 we all got that but when most of your tables seat 4 you seat the smaller party first if the arrived first. Not once but 3 times you sat larger parties. We are now here 30 minutes. Owner came out with some small bottles of corona light and bud light while we were waiting. Still ignoring the situation and seating the larger parties. On the 4th time we left and we were 30 minutes into our 10 minute wait. Larger parties arriving 30 minutes after us who were getting seated said we were making a big deal over nothing we just didn't understand how this worked. Well the next restaurant we went to had just as many folks waiting and we only waiting the amount of time promised. They split a table for eight to accommodate 2 deuces. There were two tables of 4 behind us. Thanks Tequilas! Las Fuentes you lost us not for wait but the rudeness of the guy who was "diffusing"the situation and made it worse. He was an epic jerk with his cockiness and smirk. We did not ask to be seated at a 6 or 8 top but one of the open tables for 4 when that is the majority of what you have. I will be glad to no longer receive your useless coupons too. Every time we have tried to use them we are told we cannot. If you except a drink special it negates the 8 off of 40 coupon you send even if we have 40 in non food specials. read more

My husband and I decided to try Las Fuentes after our go to Mexican restaurant near our home closed. Holy moly were we impressed. We've gone a few times and every experience has been excellent. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The salsa is fantastic. It has flavor instead of tasting like plain tomatoes. Good service is a must! This will set the tone for the mood of the meal. It's about respect, if I'm being treated with it will dictate my return of respect in gratuity. This was a non issue. Seated quickly, complimentary chips and salsa to nibble on while reviewing the uncomplicated menu. Very nice. Wait times were minimal from being seated to having orders taken, to food arrival that actually looks like the photos in the menu. Nothing too outrageous in cost. I would highly recommend Las Fuentes to anyone at anytime. For me this was a home run experience. read more
