Yesterday after a cleaning Dr. Lopez came in for a quick look and saw that my two upper front teeth…read morewere badly damaged from misaligned lower front teeth. He had a recommendation for a fix (filling the indentions made by the bottom teeth to cover the now exposed dentin. BUT he said unless we move those bottom teeth out a little so that they no longer OCCLUDE with the top front teeth...the repair would be damaged and the result could be more enamel breaking off and more crack in the teeth and even a potential of losing both of my front teeth! YIKES...His recommendation was for Invisalign on just the lower test and that the process should take about 6 months...it was a daunting revelation for me not just for the annoyance of having something in my mouth for 6 months and having to be so careful to remove them to eat and then clean my mouth and teeth of all food residue before reinstalling them and making sure to wear them for a full 22 hours a day...SHEESH! And then there's the cost. I'm 76 and living on social security so a $3800 output (DELTA DENTAL DID NOT COVER THIS!) really worried me. Today I called the office and had a wonderful conversation with Raquel (Not sure how it's spelled). She went over the costs and the possible issues I might have and assured me that SHOULD the process take 6 months they would bill me monthly until the last treatment and not require full payment up front. ALSO it would include everything...the trays...the visits, photos and even the retainer at the end of the process. She also confirmed that Dr. Lopez has done DOZENS of Invisalign cases and currently has about 40 patients WEARING Invisalign trays now and he's very experienced. Raquel spent almost 20 minutes of a very busy time of her day making sure that all my questions and concerns were addressed in the most kind and pleasant manner. Dr. Lopez if you ever read this review please accept my gratitude for hiring people like Raquel who never make your patients feel like they're a bother or like we're asking dumb questions. She's so kind and knowledgeable. I told her that I wish I could thank her mom for raising such a wonderful human being. I'm still not THRILLED at the thought of the upcoming 6 month journey through the invisalign world but it beats braces and while it's not cheap, I know I can find the way to cover the costs. There are always things I can cancel or cut back on for 6 months until the procedure is fully paid for.

I have never been offered a hand wax treatment, TV, and jewelry cleaning at a dentist. Would highly recommend! They are very thorough with their care, and very friendly! UPDATE: Subtracting two stars. They tried to get me to have all this porcelain work done on my teeth, which would have cost me a small fortune. Went for a second opinion elsewhere and was told I needed a filling replaced, but that cost next to nothing! These guys are very overpriced and will encourage you to do unnecessary work that ends up costing you a lot of money!

The office is well-decorated and cozy with accent walls and aesthetically-pleasing black and white photos of people with ridiculously white teeth. They have complimentary fruit and drinks (orange juice, green tea, water, etc.), free yummy chapstick, and of course your obligatory floss and toothpaste. The exam/cleaning rooms all have nice, big windows, so you can look out the window or watch TV while you are having work done, your choice. Also, you have the option of dipping your hands in a paraffin wax bath for a nice hand treatment as you get your teeth done. Absolutely genius ... I mean, if you're sitting there for an extended period of time anyway, why not? Everyone I interacted with there was very pleasant, but, most importantly, honest. Dr. Alber has a very frank, here's-how-it-is personality, which I really appreciated. He told me I should consider having my wisdom teeth out in the near future, and when I admitted that I thought I would be doing that on my next visit to Peru, he encouraged me. "Heck, they can do it for a lot cheaper than I can -- and they have good dentists!" he said. I really appreciated that because he could have said something like "Well, the only way you can be SURE to have it done well is to go through me." I loved the no-upsale approach. My visit was very cheap; with insurance, it ended up being $22, but without it would have been $110 for cleaning, xrays, and checkup. I will definitely be going back.

My excitement started with his front office staff. Nicole was just awesome, helping me at every step with my new insurance plan, getting old records from my previous dentist and just making me feel like this office cares. A+ service even before I was a patient! Yesterday I saw Dr. Britt and his Dental Assistant Erin and I couldn't be happier. First, Erin was fantastic. I was complaining of some pain (cold sensitivity) and expected to need a crown. She took the time to explain everything that was likely to happen and made sure I was informed and comfortable with everything. Erin is very pleasant and extremely competent. By the time Dr. Britt came over I felt like Erin has been a friend for years. And the whole experience was made even better once I saw Dr. Britt. He was very kind and thorough with his examination and explained everything he was seeing until I understood what was going on. And the bonus... he actually recommended I not get the expensive and invasive crown and offered me a more appropriate treatment that cost me nothing! What a pleasure to have a dentist who's more interested in providing me proper care than making a quick buck. I couldn't be happier with my experience seeing Dr. Britt and his team. Dr. Britt is a really nice guy who really knows his stuff. I'm giving him the absolute best recommendation I can give... I'm sending my wife to be treated at his office. Well done everyone there. We've found our favorite dentist!! Do yourself a favor and give them a call.

The most important thing to say is that going to the dentist no longer fills me with fear or shame. It might be a stretch to say that I look forward to it, but it simply isn't unpleasant. It's no longer something I put off or avoid. The immediate results were terrific. Dr Fiscus was prepared to give a lot of detail, but he respected my preference just to get on with things. His approach impressed me as holistic and the procedures were far, far less uncomfortable than I expected. The staff, which has been a big minus with some other dental care providers I've had in the past, is good. The hygienist completely changed my expectations about what it's like to have my teeth cleaned. It's NOT a miserable experience. Ellen doesn't lecture me about being a far from dedicated flosser, and ironically I'm taking better care than ever of my teeth. Pamela, who handles reception and insurance, has kept things sorted out with our insurance company, which has made things much easier. I knew that things were at a point that it was imperative to get my teeth fixed. I didn't expect that the process would be as easy as it was -- and I truly did not expect to feel positive about ongoing dental care. It has been a real transformation for me.

I hesitate to write this review because I think that Dr. Fiscus is a very nice guy. However, my…read moreexperience needs to be shared. There were a few strikes that led me to find a new dentist. They are as follows: 1. His receptionist Barb is rude and condescending. She is not a nice person. As a self-employed individual, I do not have dental insurance. She treated me like I was a second class citizen. Why?? Being that she is the first and last contact people have with his office, you'd think that it would be a priority for her to be nice...or even decent. I would have shared my thoughts and explained my departure, however, I could never get past Barb to talk to him. This was frustrating. 2. His higenist did a horrible job. She was very rough and when I left, my teeth looked like they had polka dots. She scraped away a little bit of the coffee stains, and left spots where she did not. Not a cool look. 3. I had a cavity that caused a toothache that led to a root canal. I was in pain. I am not a pain pill seeker. I have never asked a doctor or dentist for pain pills before in my life. I called Dr. Fiscus' office to request that he call something in as I couldn't get into the endodontist for a few days. He called in two pills. Two. Why bother at that point? It felt like a sarcastic slap in the face. 4. Dr. Fiscus claimed that I had two cavities. I had the first fixed, and he urged me to have the second done as soon as possible. I had the opportunity to have a second opinion from my childhood dentist in my home state while I was home for a visit. This dentist found no such cavity. Nothing. Hmmmmmm. I'm not necessarily suggessting that Dr. Fiscus made up this second cavity. I do realize that different dentists have more modern methods of cavity detection, as was admitted by my childhood dentist. Still, it caused me to re-think having him bring a drill anywhere near my mouth. I very well may have this cavity...but to have that sliver of doubt was the final nail in the coffin for me. I see that there are other very positive comments and ratings posted about Dr. Fiscus. I wish him a thriving and successful practice...I just won't be going back.
