I will not use Alex's services again. My first red flag should have been that without seeing my…read moresystem he wanted me to agree to paying him for a 1/2 day. It's a basic system with just one controller and 5 valves. Despite this I agreed because of the reviews here and because it would be for the following day at 1 pm. The day of our appointment a couple hours prior, Alex texted me asking if he could come earlier than scheduled. I told him that I wasn't able to make it then, and he responded that it was fine and he would see me at 1. I drove 30 minutes to meet Alex at our agreed upon time, and waited 15 minutes waiting for him to show up. He didn't, so I texted him again to see what his eta was. He then informed he wasn't coming, and had an emergency to take care of. Given the prior conversation with him, I'm not entirely convinced of this "emergency ", especially because he still offered to come in the morning the following day. Had he called me when he knew he wouldn't be able to make it, I might be more forgiving, but he wasted my time.

His quote was reasonable / competitive, and I was lucky to get quickly scheduled. He and his crew came out and in a couple days were able to install a brand new Hunter system with sprayers and multiple drip lines. Despite having to trench through my yard, when they were done it looked as good as new. They took special care around existing landscaping and did not damage anything during the installation process. It's been a few months now, and the system is working great. Grass is green and plants are blooming. Sherman is easy to work with and super responsive. I'm extremely happy with the outcome and I'm sure you will be too.

He's great with communication, and his estimate was right on point. I had some drainage work done at my house which trashed my entire irrigation system, so I needed to have it replaced, both in the front and back yard. The McKay crew did a bang up job of it. They came in on time and on budget. They had the whole system laid out and running within about two days. Then Sherman spent some time with me to make sure I knew how to operate the controllers. In fact, they do more than irrigation, and I will likely have them come back and put in some new plants and do some other work in my backyard. They did such a good job with the irrigation system that I have high confidence they will make quick work of the other jobs too. I strongly recommend them.

This is an enthusiastic recommendation for Beall King of King's Gardens. My husband and I first…read morehired Beall a few years ago to replace our front lawn and sprinklers with a low maintenance garden and drip irrigation system. We selected Beall after meeting with a handful of landscape contractors because he was the most interested in understanding what we wanted (other contractors simply told us what they would do) and had the most transparent and fair pricing (Beall gave us a detailed estimate, whereas other contractors failed to provide any estimate or said they could provide an estimates only AFTER we paid for a design consultation). Beall really impressed us on that project. Even though my husband and I had a strong idea of what we wanted, we had a hard time explaining it because we did not know anything about plants or gardening. Beall was very patient and generous with his time. He met with us at a nursery early in the morning to pick plants so that my husband and I wouldn't have to take time off work. He also provided sketches of his proposed designs to make sure we were all on the same page (he is not just a landscape contractor but also a great designer). Beall's efforts paid off, and we were very happy with the finished product. In fact, we were so happy that we started budgeting to have Beall work on our back yard, which he did this year. During the consultations for the second project, Beall surprised us by pulling out notes he had taken when working on our first project. We saved a lot of time because Beall had written down what plants we did and did not like. The second project was very labor intensive because it included the removal of many stones and the installation of massive granite steps. Beall and his hardworking crew completed this work in amazingly fast time. To save money on hauling away the old dirt and stones that were excavated, we asked Beall to dump them on a hidden part of our property that is not landscaped. Most other contractors would have done this haphazardly, but not Beall. He and his crew spread and compacted the dirt to create a level surface and then used the stones to define a walkway, turning a literal dumping ground to useable space. His thoughtful approach added minimal time to the job but added a lot of value to our property. Of the nearly dozen contractors we have hired in the last several years, Beall has been our favorite to work with. He is very knowledgeable about his field, hardworking, and customer service oriented. We highly recommend him for any landscaping job.
