The day of our appointment a couple hours prior, Alex texted me asking if he could come earlier than scheduled. I told him that I wasn't able to make it then, and he responded that it was fine and he would see me at 1. I drove 30 minutes to meet Alex at our agreed upon time, and waited 15 minutes waiting for him to show up. He didn't, so I texted him again to see what his eta was. He then informed he wasn't coming, and had an emergency to take care of. Given the prior conversation with him, I'm not entirely convinced of this "emergency ", especially because he still offered to come in the morning the following day. Had he called me when he knew he wouldn't be able to make it, I might be more forgiving, but he wasted my time.

His quote was reasonable / competitive, and I was lucky to get quickly scheduled. He and his crew came out and in a couple days were able to install a brand new Hunter system with sprayers and multiple drip lines. Despite having to trench through my yard, when they were done it looked as good as new. They took special care around existing landscaping and did not damage anything during the installation process. It's been a few months now, and the system is working great. Grass is green and plants are blooming. Sherman is easy to work with and super responsive. Our big water bill clues us in that we have a leak. Although we're finally allowed to have outdoor gardening services again, of course everyone is swamped and few are specialized in repairing irrigation systems. The irrigation supply store Watersavers in San Rafael recommended David Melendez of Marin Landscape Service so we gave him a call. What a great recommendation! I can't say enough about how professional, courteous, knowledgeable and supportive David is. Unlike a competing irrigation professional I talked with in Fairfax, he came out without charging a fee to assess the problem and then scheduled a prompt follow-on visit to repair the system. Our controller was shot and we needed a replacement controller of approximately the same size that could be placed in the same location. David listened to our needs and found a programmable controller with more capabilities than the one we had that allows me to control the irrigation with an app on my phone. I love not having to go out to the controller and sit on the ground to have to change the settings. Even better, our irrigation controller is now updated to a more water saving technology that adjusts the watering automatically by taking into account the local weather, including higher or lower temperatures and rain in the forecast. In addition to replacing our ancient controller, David repaired 2 of our valves that also had problems and patiently stepped through how to program the controller while I filmed his lesson on my phone.
