I have been going to this store for years. It was always a nice store, but it truly is one of the nicest guitar shops I've been to. I have to take issue with one reviewer who declared the prices to be "through the roof." That is a totally unfair characterization. A privately owned store will not have the bulk purchasing that G-center will and prices on some items will be slightly higher. I would note, however that Larry's carries some beautiful high-end instruments. (especially Taylors) They also carry a nice selection of more economical instruments. What they DON'T carry is substandard instruments that exist only for their price tags. A guitar that falls apart is no bargain. They also carry a nice selection of quality ukuleles that will last without breaking the bank. (Lanakai) I would like to see them carry some Kamaka ukes someday. Let's not forget Reverend and Deusenberg guitars in the electric department. (standing O for carrying those.) One last comment: Brad is developing a nice inventory of vintage instruments that merit serious consideration. Don't get sucked up by guitar center. BUY LOCAL! read more

WOW! I can't believe I haven't reviewed Larry's! Alright, in the interest of full-disclosure, I used to teach the drums here. Saturday mornings, after working until 1 am, I was there, tea in hand. Larry's has grown tremendously since moving to their new digs, and what's even better, they built all that stuff in their acoustic guitar room. SERIOUSLY!! And the teaching rooms - I'm jealous. My favorite sight in the store though rests on a Tama drumset "Please don't play the drums" Larry's isn't the biggest store ever, but they really do epitomize the phrase "small town service" Locals guys who know their stuff, and will bend over backwards to make you happy. My young son wanted a guitar for his 9th birthday. I knew I didn't want to buy a piece of junk but I also didn't want to spend a fortune on an instrument he may not stick with playing. We went to Larry's and our salesperson was extremely helpful, informative, courteous and knowledgeable. Just days after our purchase we did have a small problem with the guitar and the staff at Larry's took care of it immediately. Exceptional service and a great shopping experience. Our older daughter has a flute from Larry's through the rental program also and we have never had a minute's trouble with it. read more

I always like coming and looking at stuff and the staff is also very nice and I always like talking to the staff I know I always can get a fresh pair of sticks there and the prices aren't bad at all. read more

It's OK. They don't pay good for trade in instruments. It's a lot like jewelry. The markups on retail are ridiculous but you can't get anything out of them. read more

I go in and out of guitar phases, but I'll say Brad is a straight up dude. I think they do a great job sales and service wise.

I stopped into Larry's in Wooster today in search of a new electric guitar. Firstly, the guy behind the counter smiled and said "hello". Those of you who visit local shops know that this gesture is unfortunately uncommon. Usually some body just glances up from their lunch and looks at you like your mere presence is a burden on their day. I browsed for a few minutes and was then greeted by another gentleman, also smiling. I explained that I didn't quite know what I wanted, at which point the most incredible thing happened. The gentleman said " play around all you want, make some noise and let me know if you need anything at all ". Is this a guitar shop or an alternate universe? This behavior is very uncommon at these shops. I honestly felt welcomed and comfortable enough to really take my time and give thought to the instrument I may want. All of my questions were given thoughtful and complete answers, all without any pressure, or being rushed. I didn't end up finding the exact guitar that I wanted, but because of my experience, I will be back and will spread the word. I am more than willing to wait a few weeks for new arrivals just so I can purchase from this store. I really got the feeling that I would still be taken care of, even after my purchase. I have been playing and purchasing instruments for 25 years and I assure you that there is something very special about this store. read more
