I stopped taking my guitars to others shops regionally, that where endorsed by nationally high level players for setup. Yea...they where good but... John's setup was always a step above. John has has been able to give me back semi-playable so-sos, to a silky smooth sweetheart that I have a hard time parting with, even it not top of the line. Now my grandsons and step-son have requested some of my guitars to learn on. I learned on poor quality stock setup. I wanted to quit until I felt instrument setup correctly...and then I was hooked. I want them to know what a good guitar setup feels like versus factory milktoast setup, so that they want to keep on playing and upgrading to their playing style/level. Wadsworth Music facilities that path with both the service and the inventory selection to upgrade when needed. They seem to have heavy support for the local high school band members as well, which I tend to hold dear. (Sry...bias from being HS band member in my days. Would love a high & tight rudimentary snare drum, or 3 valve B-flat marching baritone if I could still blow solo blues. Alas, those days gone. Low-energy guitars will have to suffice.)

I found out too late that nearly all of those great reviews on Google are actually for the Music Shoppe which was located on Erie. The previous owner who was mainly the one who fixed woodwinds died in 2021, and Johnny didn't open his own shop until January of 2022, but kept all of the reviews for the other store. I was told by a music store that our flute needed to be repadded. Johnny assured me that he was able to do it, but after over 200 dollars, 4 trips, and several lies later, I would never recommend his services for band instruments. Please do yourself a favor and take them to a store that specializes in band instruments, even if it costs a little more. When we first went to pick up the "completely overhauled" flute, he gushed about how it was "a beast" and how easily his flute teacher was able to play it. My daughter, who is an excellent flutist, was not even able to make it work. In fact, one of the pads completely fell out while we were there! Needless to say, we went home without our flute that day, which meant another trip. The second time, since it did play, we took it home, only to have another pad fall out with the next week, which meant another trip. By the last time we picked up the flute, our "beast" had turned into a "bad horn" that was just old and worn out. We were told in so many words that he couldn't really do any more for us, and don't expect it to last very long. It has not played well since, so my daughter has been using my old flute to get by. Last week, I finally took it to a reputable music shop in Canton. Imagine my shock when I was told that it is a good flute, but the person who put the pads in didn't know what he was doing! I will have to pay to have it completely repadded, meaning that I totally wasted all of that money and time. Hopefully, my experience will save some other customer some frustration!

My lesson didn't start until 4:40 because the kid teaching me spent the first several minutes gathering materials (instrument, bow, book, etc.) for the lesson that I had scheduled days in advance. The session ended at 5:00, and I was charged $35 for a 20-minute lesson when I was originally told it would be an hour-long session. When we inquired about the session length, we were told that WE MISUNDERSTOOD that the session was supposed to be an hour. No apology, no attempt to make it right, nothing. Just we were wrong and that was the end of it. Rude. Dismissive. Unprofessional. Go elsewhere for your music needs.

"all guitar repair is 'not' a legitimate business. as in steve is 'not' registered…read moreor incorporated - and therefore it's illegitimate. moreover, on any and all guitars, there must be several windings of the strings on the tuning head posts. steve, has no string windings on the tuning head posts at all ? at all ? that means you are unable to tune the guitar ! due to the fact that the string(s) will be pulled right out of the tuning head post with any attempt of tuning the guitar(s). when questioned, steve indicated that, this is what is in the book ! which means that he is 'not' in fact an experienced guitar repair man. he is 'not' legit, and is 'not' to be trusted in the basic set up & repair of your guitar(s) - nor to be paid for that matter. i've been playing guitar since i was nine years old & i am fifty - eight years old now, and in all my years of going to guitar repair men, i have never experienced anything like this ? so, therefore, do 'not' go to steve at "all guitar repair" - he not worth going to all ! at all !"

I have a guitar that had a hump in the neck around the 17th fret. It wasn't a fret issue but a…read moreissue with the way that the neck was set, fretboard, etc. He gave me a fair price to do the work and an estimate of two to three weeks. I called about two weeks in for the update. I had to call many times across several days to get a hold of him. I was told it would take another couple of weeks. Okay, no problem. This same pattern repeated for three months. When I finally got the guitar back, the work was in fact good. He had done a great job fixing the neck. However, I was starting to think that I'd have to get the law and lawyers involved to get it back. I wouldn't take anything there again no matter how good the work. It wasn't worth aggravation caused by his lack of professionalism.
