The park technically closed at 10pm but is opened pretty much 24/7 with the exception of Weds mornings until 3pm. Also there's WiFi and tables here which is really nice. Gripes are the train station near by, can get really loud -- sheer volume of dogs, which is a double edged sword and some owners being on their phone but chill otherwise. It also smells really strongly of pee -- recommend not being on the turf and getting your dog a good wipe down after.

With an upcoming play date planned between myself and a gf, I was happy that this particular park was picked for our meet up. First things first, this park is MASSIVE! Delano Manongs Park is broken into 10 parts- YES, I SAID 10!! This includes a small and large dog park, multiple gardens, a fitness station, and a number of play structures to keep all your little munchkins happily occupied. The park is very well kept, the restrooms are very doable, and with its large size, there isn't that congested feeling you get with other locations. On top of the many perks, there is a large field to kick or throw around a few balls. The only flaw- and might I add that it is a big one- is the lack of actual shade. Your relief from the sun's powerful rays is limited to the gazebo where the benches are or using the large flower structures as a shield. 5/5 stars all in all. This is lots of fun for kids of all ages.

The park is divided in two: big dog and small dogs. Its mostly just dry dirt with some tanbark along the edges. No poop bags are provided however, there is a spot for some tennis balls and a water fountain along with a big bowl. Theres 4 benches mostly parked under the shade of big trees so you can expect a bit of seating. Parking right next to the dog park is pretty limited as it's mostly just street parking along Piedmont Road. No food or drinks are allowed and people, for the most part, follow the rules. Sometimes people bring their medium/large dogs into the small dog park so do keep an eye on your dog. The park is pretty well kept and clean throughout despite no bags being provided. Most of the people who frequent this park seem very kind and warm. If you have a social pup, I would come here and check it out.

Cons: No poop bags available in case you forget yours. When I go, I pick up all the poops in the area and sometimes there are as many as five+ different piles. It is along a bike trail and there is a stream of unhoused in addition to bikes but this is balanced many families going to the soccer fields.

There's a nice grassy area in the center and I noticed a few instances of owners playing catch with their dogs off-leash. There are picnic tables by the playground and public bathrooms all in the same area. The only water fountain I found was by the picnic/playground/bathroom area and it had a lower fountain for dogs. **Dog park: The dog area was really small, all dirt with one bench. Big dog and small dog are separated but the size is pretty similar to each other with the big dog having just a LITTLE bit more space. It was empty for me except for 1 dog owner but I wonder if there would be more dogs after-work hours for some socialization :-) you would have to walk a little but further down to the main area for water fountain.

We wanted to find a park that is relatively new/in good condition and not too crowded to let the little ones safely play. I'm honestly surprised that this isn't a more popular place to bring your kids. I suppose a part of it is because it is a neighborhood park without dedicated parking, although there is plenty of street parking. With that being said, the play area is gated so it is safe to let your children roam with supervision, the play structures are all in very good condition and the padded flooring is intact across the park. Very suitable for toddlers and older children, they even have a baby changing station inside of the bathroom, as well as adequate drinking fountains and drinking fountains for dogs. We were there on a Saturday morning, from 9 to 10am and were the only family there the entire time. This is completely different compared to some of the other parks in Sunnyvale or San Jose, where it can become a zoo by that time. We will definitely be setting up future play dates here.

I've been coming here with my doggo for the last 8-9 months almost weekly to let my dog burn off some energy. She loves to run so the open field here is really nice. During peak times, there's always a mix crowd of nice and not so nice dogs, and it goes with humans too. Most people just keep to themselves. The friendly folks will be friendly. Some people watch their dogs attentively, and others don't. The ones that don't watch their four legged friends tend to have misbehaving dogs; humping other dogs, getting into fights, harassing other dogs, and likely to not pick up their dogs poop. The list of all the bad stuff goes on, and you WILL see these common problems at other dog parks. There's no perfect dog park, everyone really need to watch out for their own: - Stay alert - Bring your own water - Protect your dog On the good side, your dog will find a new buddy and they will chase each other and play. This place is great to train your dogs impulses. I've walked on the outside of the the enclosed area to help leash train my dog. If she does well, she gets play, if not she goes home whimpering like the spoiled girl she is. Then repeat and reward often until she understands not to pull so damn hard... but I digress, this park is great. Not too big, not too small. See you guys there!

There's also a sizable playground, a few picnic tables and park benches scattered throughout, a cement walking trail, and at least one restroom. I came by during Viva CalleSJ this past weekend so there were a bunch of porta potties too, as well as food trucks and vendor tents set up. I picnicked under the trees, enjoying some good eats from Shrimp'n Aint Eazy while listening to live music by the San Jose Jazz Collective on a breezy Sunday afternoon. Nothing really notable about the scenery here, but it's a nice enough park and a lovely setting for events like this.

Busy times may not be ideal for puppies…read more I normally really like this dog park, but after what happened this morning, I feel it's important to warn other puppy owners to be cautious about coming during very busy times. I brought my 5 month old Siberian Husky, Leo, as I normally do. He is extremely energetic, agile, and loves playing with other dogs. However, this morning the park was packed with a lot of much older, larger dogs, and two dogs in particular, an older black German Shepherd and a Doberman or Rottweiler type dog repeatedly ganged up on him. What really upset me was that the situation escalated to the point where both dogs sandwiched Leo and knocked him down and were on top of him, and the German Shepherd grabbed onto his neck and would not let go. Leo is normally very quick and capable of getting himself out of situations, but this time he didn't even get back up. I had to physically intervene and push the dogs off him and then the owner came up to see what had happened. Gee you're a little late! I then removed Leo and gave him some time to calm down before allowing him back around the other dogs. Then owner eventually approached me again, I could tell she was trying to get a rise out of me. She asked if I didn't want the dogs to play???? I explained that what I had just witnessed was not appropriate play and that there is a threshold where play becomes too rough and potentially dangerous. Her response was essentially that "that's how they play." She also described her 1.5 year old dog as a puppy, which is very different from my 5 month old puppy who is fairly new to dog parks in terms of size, age, and ability to handle an interaction with significantly older dogs. My biggest concern isn't that dogs were playing. Because I've brought him there several other times and Leo played just fine with the larger dogs. It's these specific two dogs that kept approaching him, even after I kept separating him from them. It's that the interaction was allowed to escalate without the owner stepping in. In fact, the owner was so busy talking to the other dogs, owner and gossiping that she wasn't even paying attention to how poorly her dog acts. If I hadn't been standing right there watching, Leo could have been seriously injured and I may have ended up needing to take him to the vet. I'm not saying people shouldn't bring their dogs here. I just want other dog owners to be aware that certain times of day can become extremely busy with larger and older dogs, and not every dog will have appropriate play manners. If you're bringing a young puppy, I'd strongly recommend choosing a quieter time when you can better control the environment and monitor interactions. Also, there were plenty of other dogs off leash outside of the dog park as well so when I tried to walk him on leash outside of the park, other unsupervised dogs who kept running up to him and jumping on him with more owners completely unaware of what's going on which is totally not OK. Please watch your puppies closely. Not every interaction that an owner considers "playing" is safe or appropriate for every dog.

I visited on a summer day when temperatures were around 90°F. It was quite hot, with little to no breeze. We stayed until sunset, the lake reflected the evening colors, it's beautiful.

I don't personally use the tennis courts or the half-court basketball area, but I often see others making good use of them. In terms of facilities, the restrooms are consistently well-maintained, and the park as a whole feels very well-kept. Between the open space and the playground, it's a very pleasant, quiet environment--a great spot for local families.
