At this location, there's no water bucket so you have to bring your own. There's a water fountain outside of the play area, but the water was extremely murky. I like that this space has grass rather than sand or bark because our dog doesn't get as dirty. However, patches were extremely muddy even though it hasn't rained recently. As with most dog parks, we found that not all owners pick up after their dogs but it was relatively clean. We came on a holiday at 11am and there were around 4-5 dogs, each staying for ~20 minutes.

Busy times may not be ideal for puppies…read more I normally really like this dog park, but after what happened this morning, I feel it's important to warn other puppy owners to be cautious about coming during very busy times. I brought my 5 month old Siberian Husky, Leo, as I normally do. He is extremely energetic, agile, and loves playing with other dogs. However, this morning the park was packed with a lot of much older, larger dogs, and two dogs in particular, an older black German Shepherd and a Doberman or Rottweiler type dog repeatedly ganged up on him. What really upset me was that the situation escalated to the point where both dogs sandwiched Leo and knocked him down and were on top of him, and the German Shepherd grabbed onto his neck and would not let go. Leo is normally very quick and capable of getting himself out of situations, but this time he didn't even get back up. I had to physically intervene and push the dogs off him and then the owner came up to see what had happened. Gee you're a little late! I then removed Leo and gave him some time to calm down before allowing him back around the other dogs. Then owner eventually approached me again, I could tell she was trying to get a rise out of me. She asked if I didn't want the dogs to play???? I explained that what I had just witnessed was not appropriate play and that there is a threshold where play becomes too rough and potentially dangerous. Her response was essentially that "that's how they play." She also described her 1.5 year old dog as a puppy, which is very different from my 5 month old puppy who is fairly new to dog parks in terms of size, age, and ability to handle an interaction with significantly older dogs. My biggest concern isn't that dogs were playing. Because I've brought him there several other times and Leo played just fine with the larger dogs. It's these specific two dogs that kept approaching him, even after I kept separating him from them. It's that the interaction was allowed to escalate without the owner stepping in. In fact, the owner was so busy talking to the other dogs, owner and gossiping that she wasn't even paying attention to how poorly her dog acts. If I hadn't been standing right there watching, Leo could have been seriously injured and I may have ended up needing to take him to the vet. I'm not saying people shouldn't bring their dogs here. I just want other dog owners to be aware that certain times of day can become extremely busy with larger and older dogs, and not every dog will have appropriate play manners. If you're bringing a young puppy, I'd strongly recommend choosing a quieter time when you can better control the environment and monitor interactions. Also, there were plenty of other dogs off leash outside of the dog park as well so when I tried to walk him on leash outside of the park, other unsupervised dogs who kept running up to him and jumping on him with more owners completely unaware of what's going on which is totally not OK. Please watch your puppies closely. Not every interaction that an owner considers "playing" is safe or appropriate for every dog.

This is a small dog park, but it has enough room to let the dogs run around. It has a small and a big dog side. The small dog side is 10*10 feet. Really can't do much. So we went to the big dog side. There were plenty of poopie bags available. But for some reason there was dog poop all along the perimeter. Stop being lazy people, clean up after your pet. Also there is no water available. It's a nice place with shade and benches and new looking fake grass. But I probably won't come back or recommend coming here. Parking right next to the dog park is pretty limited as it's mostly just street parking along Piedmont Road. No food or drinks are allowed and people, for the most part, follow the rules. Sometimes people bring their medium/large dogs into the small dog park so do keep an eye on your dog. The park is pretty well kept and clean throughout despite no bags being provided.
