The website says book donations are encouraged, but unfortunately, we've found the staff to be quite unwelcoming when we've tried to donate books. They often seem reluctant to accept the books we bring in, which has been very different from our experiences at other Douglas County libraries, where the staff have been appreciative and helpful. Unfortunately, this has gone beyond just our experience with donating books, and it's become a pattern that has left us feeling unwelcome. Because of that, we'll continue driving to a farther library where we feel more comfortable.

This location is heavy on the charm given the stone tower that houses it. In fact, one feels a bit like Rapunzel, climbing a staircase that leads to a secret treasure trove space at the top. It's a pleasant escape and a safe place I cherish, as an introvert. Highly recommend checking this spot out--cute shops are stationed on each side and a Starbucks sits across the street for those who want fuel during their next epic read!

We're currently on a mission to check out all the nearby libraries to see which is best for our kiddo (or at least offer a little variety to the one we normally go to) and this one definitely seems to have a little less for kiddos to do, but it's still a cute area, well set apart, which various toys and activities for each age. Personally, I love the view and all the ducks and geese out back, and it's not very crowded. It's a little noisier when there are more people here due to it being one large room and not really have separation between areas besides the stacks (and the community room has doors). Also, the Gecko is a nice touch!

I am writing to share a very concerning experience my son and his grandfather had during Story Time…read moreyesterday. From the moment they arrived, they felt they were treated differently than the other families in attendance. My son was not allowed to have any of the toys that other children were using. Later, when stamps were handed out to the children, every child received one except for my son. The librarian looked him up and down and intentionally moved on without giving him a stamp. My father-in-law also tried asking a few questions about Story Time, but instead of receiving help, he said the librarian raised her voice at both him and my young son. Throughout the program, she appeared to engage warmly with the other children while largely ignoring my son. This was incredibly hurtful for our family. Story Time should be a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and treated with kindness. No child should leave feeling excluded. I hope you will look into this matter and ensure that all families are treated with respect and fairness. Thank you for taking the time to hear our concerns, and I would appreciate hearing what steps will be taken to address this situation.
