I was referred to Dr. Farid @ Optum by my PCP Dr. Parle-Pechera (also @Optum, and also…read morefantastic...). Long story short, she saved my life entirely due to her incredible attention to detail, with a need to always prioritize her patients safety. She uncovered an unruptured brain aneurysm that would have either killed me or left me disabled. My allergies and sinuses had been bothering me for years, and I wanted some advice. She was incredibly attentive and thorough in all of my visits with her. She sent me for a hearing test and and allergy test and while I had some imaging of my sinuses, she went above and beyond normal guidelines and sent me for a CT scan that led to the aneurysm finding, an incidental finding, entirely based on her experience and instincts. Aneurysm has been stented, and I will be glad to have Dr. Farid finally do my Septoplasty. So incredibly lucky to have been referred to Dr. Farid!!! She really takes her time with patients, and is a great listener. I have never ever felt rushed n our many appointments. You are lucky if also found her :)

She discovered within minutes that what another provider had dismissed as routine polyps in my sinus area was much more serious. In the same day, I was in MRI--she discovered it was cancer, and saw me through the entire process of getting me diagnosed, biopsied and nearly 2 years later I am cancer free. Her office staff cares and actually answers the phone, too..... This is the first review I have ever written online, so that kind of says it all.

Had similar experiences than earlier post from 2024…read more.. Went in for a 15 minute initial exam. Dr. Chan informed me "Here, I will get the camera so we can both see" and barely placed the camera inside my nose. The camera did not reveal any information Dr. Chan did not already have from the initial exam. I was billed $1200 for the visit. $600 for Endsoscopy (the brief camera insert), and $600 in facility fees. I consider Dr. Chan untrustworthy and misrepresents his work.

I opted for the Seattle - Ballard location over the Seattle - First Hill or Issaquah locations due to proximity to Shoreline. *Visit #1 initial consultation on 2/17/21, free street parking up to 4 hours. Masked, temperature checked, and socially distanced in a tiny reception area. Initial intake forms were completed. We met Dr. Chan and a medical transcription assistant in a clean exam room, all of us masked. Vitals and visual ENT observations taken. Observation concurred with the family medical doctor from PacMed. Professional demeanor and procedure explained in clear layperson's terminology. We spent more time in the waiting area, than the actual exam room. Despite having insurance coverage, the bill was over $300. Guess this situation is considered cosmetic, insert eye roll here towards Swedish and Premera. *Visit #2 actual outpatient procedure on 3/10/21, paid $1 for two hours street parking. Initially this procedure was scheduled two weeks earlier. Day of the procedure, I received a phone call two hours prior that Dr. Chan requested this appointment to be cancelled and rescheduled. I remembered being so annoyed because of the logistics to get that time off from work. Turned out it was a smart decision to reschedule, because the performed procedure should not be hurried and become a haphazard epic fail. Folks present in the clean exam room, were myself, the patient, Dr. Chan, his medical transcription assistant, and his nurse. The procedure used localized injections of lidocaine and patient was conscious throughout the procedure. I was given a handful of neosporin packets and the antibiotic prescription was phoned in to our local Bartell Drugs in Shoreline. I was present more for morale support, but as a science professional was observing the entire procedure like a hawk, and to comprehend the after care instructions. Dr. Chan narrated the procedure, did the least invasive but thorough extraction, and deft sterile saline rinse and suture closure. *Visit #3 removal of stitches on 3/15/21, paid 25 cents for 30 minutes street parking Folks present in the exam room, were myself, the patient, Dr. Chan, and his medical transcription assistant. Took only a few minutes, snip snip, a dab of neosporin, and all done. This was an uneventful procedure. No infection, no reaction to the antibiotic prescribed, thankfully. All done. Just glad the pathology report stated it was a benign dermal cyst. As long as I don't hear the words malignant or cancer, I'm a happy Mama Bear. I now await a whopper of a medical bill from Swedish and Premera. The Yelp reviews were across the board, which had me wary having Dr. Vincent Chan as the initial medical specialist referral. But for these specific three appointments, all of my questions on behalf of the patient were answered. I was satisfied with the final outcome. Professional, straightforward, thorough.

On more than one occasion, I've gone in with a high level of anxiety, which he is always able to work through. I wouldn't let anyone touch my ears before him. He is an extremely skilled surgeon. I'm grateful to have Dr. Yang on my team! Highly recommend Dr. Christopher Yang!

This review is long and also long overdue. But simply put, Dr. Yang is stellar! I made the…read moremistake of finding a surgeon to do my nasal surgery from online reviews where there were over a hundred positive reviews. That doctor seemed very pleasant and so I had him do my nose surgery. Unfortunately, my troubles with breathing didn't get any better and actually got worse after surgery! It was just so tiresome, I couldn't even use my CPAP as I was so stuffed up. After many visits to that surgeon and second opinion where I felt I just got the run around, a friend who works at Swedish and my sleep doctor recommended I go see Dr. Yang who is apparently the surgeon to see if you have a breathing problem or things related to congestion and sleep apnea. Their words were "skilled, talented, ethical", "master surgeon who makes it look easy". After bit of an ordeal in securing an appointment, Dr. Yang walked in, punctual, lighthearted, and with that unmistakable swag that you know comes from experience and confidence in his craft. He soon recognized the problem and described them in simple terms that no one did before. The front of my septum was deviated worse than before and my nose was collapsing. The first surgeon also did completely unnecessary sinus surgery in areas that was normal to begin with! It was validating and reassuring to see that I wasn't imagining things. Ultimately I needed a tricky revision surgery instead of medications or kind words. Dr. Yang also saw that there were areas in my throat that may give me good chance to improve my sleep apnea. He is frank, honest about what he believes he can or cannot do. He is clearly motivated by desire to help if he feels he is able to despite the challenging circumstances. More difficult revision surgeries apparently doesn't pay doctors any better. No wonders other surgeons shied away! Surgery scheduling was done by this really sweet lady Jelana and on the day of the surgery, Dr. Yang and his team talked to me before going under and put me at ease with their positive vibe. Recovery was sore because I also had throat surgery but I was well warned of that! I'm almost a year out and I have to say this was a life changing experience. I breathe freely, sleep deeply, and my sleep apnea is almost gone! One of my doctor friends recently told me that the best doctors often have the fewest, most random reviews despite being in practice for decades and despite being the best at what they do. They don't market or solicit reviews to get fluff reviews. They are busy taking care of their patients and honing their skill. You find them by asking trusted people around you, other doctors or people in healthcare, people who actually know them and their quality of care. That's how I found Dr. Yang who listened, identified the problem, and most importantly, had the willingness and the technical skills to help me despite many things that made it difficult. Word of mouth from those who know is your best guide. Dr. Yang changed my life for so much better!

I will use the term Company b/c that's all they become/ I use the term Consumer or Number, b/c that's all we become. Calling: As a baseline you wait 30-45min, when it get's down to- 'you are next in line'- it automatically goes to message. Repeat this experience Ad nauseam if you are naive enough to try again, or again & in my case the yielded 90min lost. Repeat the minus 90 x 3. You would think they would be smarter, as they are paid by Pt experience- the wait message is so painful that you must put on mute, mind you, during the process of you waiting for, for well nothing but- incessant, redundant notices x1 per 5sec with high pitched, generic sounds (or was that supposed to be music) are painful. Scheduling: Chronic texts reminding you to check in- not needed (actually Staff has told me to 'just avoid system'), but in doing so and no matter how many repeat visits you are going to- system asks you the same history that has been documented each time and gets you into more redundancy. I like my PT man, RN's are cool & Surgeon I am choosing to like, but time will tell. A follow up & latent thought- I did get through last week in minutes. I had to confirm an appt, as I deleted the text service per Staff advice D/t redundant intake questions each time, and for the fact reminder texts are incessant. May have been same lady or another, but the same formal, semi-curt tone, almost belated teacher-like and when I said, 'nice, surprised to get you' = dead silence, HOW CAN I HELP YOU? She read through the list of who I saw last week (tool behavior, or rather the teacher reminding the wayward pupil thing- but why of the past?). The other time I got through [batting 2/8 here], as well as this one- in both cases I was left feeling temporarily stupid, wrong or awkward- let alone any relation on the other end Re Patient "experience". Apropos, as during these waits (for which being the main point- nowhere in the 30+ min wait, is there any mention- you are going to voicemail anyway)- and at 5 second intervals, they ask if you would like to 'leave input 'so to better help the Patient Experience' Yeah, I did mention to MD's and other Staff as it secondarily undermines them. her Staff. Or, I can just scrawl a message out with my 2 good fingers, put her in a whiskey bottle (b/c by now you know this sista be drinkin') and toss into the Sound. TK/ JAN (Just Another Number)

The doctor himself, well, he may be a little arrogant, maybe just confident, but I like that in a surgeon. I'm no stranger to surgeries and this was my second time around for sinus surgery and deviated septum. He took a couple extra steps another surgeon didn't take 14 years ago during the first time around. So far the results are spectacular and I would certainly recommend Dr. Burgoyne. The anesthesiologist during the surgery was also very good but I can't remember his name.
