On more than one occasion, I've gone in with a high level of anxiety, which he is always able to work through. I wouldn't let anyone touch my ears before him. He is an extremely skilled surgeon. This review is long and also long overdue. But simply put, Dr. Yang is stellar! I made the…read moremistake of finding a surgeon to do my nasal surgery from online reviews where there were over a hundred positive reviews. That doctor seemed very pleasant and so I had him do my nose surgery. Unfortunately, my troubles with breathing didn't get any better and actually got worse after surgery! It was just so tiresome, I couldn't even use my CPAP as I was so stuffed up. After many visits to that surgeon and second opinion where I felt I just got the run around, a friend who works at Swedish and my sleep doctor recommended I go see Dr. Yang who is apparently the surgeon to see if you have a breathing problem or things related to congestion and sleep apnea. Their words were "skilled, talented, ethical", "master surgeon who makes it look easy". After bit of an ordeal in securing an appointment, Dr. Yang walked in, punctual, lighthearted, and with that unmistakable swag that you know comes from experience and confidence in his craft. He soon recognized the problem and described them in simple terms that no one did before. The front of my septum was deviated worse than before and my nose was collapsing. The first surgeon also did completely unnecessary sinus surgery in areas that was normal to begin with! It was validating and reassuring to see that I wasn't imagining things. Ultimately I needed a tricky revision surgery instead of medications or kind words. Dr. Yang also saw that there were areas in my throat that may give me good chance to improve my sleep apnea. He is frank, honest about what he believes he can or cannot do. He is clearly motivated by desire to help if he feels he is able to despite the challenging circumstances. More difficult revision surgeries apparently doesn't pay doctors any better. No wonders other surgeons shied away! Surgery scheduling was done by this really sweet lady Jelana and on the day of the surgery, Dr. Yang and his team talked to me before going under and put me at ease with their positive vibe. Recovery was sore because I also had throat surgery but I was well warned of that! I'm almost a year out and I have to say this was a life changing experience. I breathe freely, sleep deeply, and my sleep apnea is almost gone! One of my doctor friends recently told me that the best doctors often have the fewest, most random reviews despite being in practice for decades and despite being the best at what they do. They don't market or solicit reviews to get fluff reviews. They are busy taking care of their patients and honing their skill. You find them by asking trusted people around you, other doctors or people in healthcare, people who actually know them and their quality of care. That's how I found Dr. Yang who listened, identified the problem, and most importantly, had the willingness and the technical skills to help me despite many things that made it difficult. Word of mouth from those who know is your best guide. Dr. Yang changed my life for so much better!

I will use the term Company b/c that's all they become/ I use the term Consumer or Number, b/c that's all we become. Calling: As a baseline you wait 30-45min, when it get's down to- 'you are next in line'- it automatically goes to message. Repeat this experience Ad nauseam if you are naive enough to try again, or again & in my case the yielded 90min lost. Repeat the minus 90 x 3. You would think they would be smarter, as they are paid by Pt experience- the wait message is so painful that you must put on mute, mind you, during the process of you waiting for, for well nothing but- incessant, redundant notices x1 per 5sec with high pitched, generic sounds (or was that supposed to be music) are painful. Scheduling: Chronic texts reminding you to check in- not needed (actually Staff has told me to 'just avoid system'), but in doing so and no matter how many repeat visits you are going to- system asks you the same history that has been documented each time and gets you into more redundancy. I like my PT man, RN's are cool & Surgeon I am choosing to like, but time will tell. A follow up & latent thought- I did get through last week in minutes. I had to confirm an appt, as I deleted the text service per Staff advice D/t redundant intake questions each time, and for the fact reminder texts are incessant. May have been same lady or another, but the same formal, semi-curt tone, almost belated teacher-like and when I said, 'nice, surprised to get you' = dead silence, HOW CAN I HELP YOU? She read through the list of who I saw last week (tool behavior, or rather the teacher reminding the wayward pupil thing- but why of the past?). The other time I got through [batting 2/8 here], as well as this one- in both cases I was left feeling temporarily stupid, wrong or awkward- let alone any relation on the other end Re Patient "experience". Apropos, as during these waits (for which being the main point- nowhere in the 30+ min wait, is there any mention- you are going to voicemail anyway)- and at 5 second intervals, they ask if you would like to 'leave input 'so to better help the Patient Experience' Yeah, I did mention to MD's and other Staff as it secondarily undermines them. her Staff. Or, I can just scrawl a message out with my 2 good fingers, put her in a whiskey bottle (b/c by now you know this sista be drinkin') and toss into the Sound. TK/ JAN (Just Another Number)

I feel Dr Huang was not listening to what I was saying about my issues…read more My annual visit was dragged out to over an hour. They call this a prolonged office visit and is billed $427 on top of billing for any annual hearing testing which seems to keep you in the office over an hour. I was not informed of the extra $427. My initial, new patient, billing was not sent out until 1 year later. This office/Dr seems to be unprofessional. I will not go back.

She's never on time, yeah, I blame myself for continuing seeing her after the first few visits. Here's the most recent experience - I made a back to back appointment to get my cochlear implant headwrap done by her before an MRI scan. The MRI appointment was supposed to happen at 3 pm so I booked an appointment with her for 1:30 pm thinking that would be enough time. She had me wait for an hour an a half and ended up seeing me at 3 pm!! Well, I can't explain how frustrated I was considering how hard it was to schedule an MRI appointment for people with a cochlear implant. And after she stepped into the room, all she's done was talking about signing a waver that releases the her liability, blah blah for 10 minutes, until I stopped her. She never talked about possible complications even after I asked about it, she just said, well there could be any complications which I don't even know about.. Anyway, steer clear of this doctor.

After searching through the first page of my "in network" providers, I quickly got tired at the prospect of sifting through 50 more pages. So, I did what any reasonable person would do when it comes to finding a doc...I closed my eyes, threw a dart and picked a name. On a serious note, Dr. Friedmann was voted best doc in 2002, so I figured like wine, you can only get better with age. I went in, he did his thing, and I walked out. Overall, a pretty painless experience (aside from the blood draw). He's a nice, warm, fuzzy guy. Two thumbs up.

I recently saw Dr. Friedmann at the Polyclinic in Ballard. I had been having severe intermittent…read moreleg pain that I couldn't relieve with any amount of Aleve, ice, heat, rest, etc. It was the strangest thing and I was hesitant to see a doctor because I could barely even describe the discomfort I was having and wasn't sure what help I would be able to get. Lucky me, I ended up getting an appointment with Dr. Friedmann. He took so much time and care to try to understand the issue I was having despite my inability to articulate it. He made sure to understand my overall health, activity levels, recent travels and all of the other outside factors that might be causing my pain. I have recently felt so rushed by all of the doctors I've seen but Dr. Friedmann made me feel like I was his only patient. While we never got to the root cause of my pain, he made sure to rule out any possibly dangerous causes and provided me with a prescription and treatment plans to try. Then the most amazing thing happened...I got an unsolicited phone call from him 2 days after my appointment to see how I was doing!!! I'm feeling much better now thanks to Dr. Friedmann. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone in search of a smart, thoughtful and genuinely caring doctor.
