I like this library because of the space as there are 3 floors and i like to go to the 3rd floor because its nice and quiet, although, some of the meanest staff i've ever interacted with before, its not all the staff, mainly the ones on the kid floor, which is unsurprising. quite funny to see them get angry at little kids for yelling too loud so 4 stars. read more

I am new to Cheyenne and needed a quiet place with access to wifi, and Laramie County Library was the perfect place! The website is easy to use, they have plenty of conference rooms/ study spaces, AND the staff was marvelous! I am so happy that my local library hit all the marks for me! read more

Laramie county library near central Cheyenne is one of the town's crowning achievements. Outside: The building is stunning offering walls of windows, a giant playground is adjacent to the library, which is surrounded by large bronze statues. Parking is generous, including for handicap and motorcycles. Inside: Spacious with lots of natural light was my first impression. Large round kiosks abound through the library levels offering helpful information. And lots of signs explaining offerings and what's on each of the 3 levels. The children's section has their own floor! Level 2. The extensive offerings include attractively arranged shelves of books well-categorized in order and lots of shelf space to feature books open on top- making new ones and old favorites easy to scan. There's a shelf area by the wall with child-level seating for kids and adults. A back room features a carpet with toys and crafts. Part of the main floor features an indoor, interactive play structure right by the wall of glorious windows. This review hasn't even delved into the event offerings (pamphlet available on floor 1 by the check out section). I noticed a wide array of available books, even early seen ones. The cleanliness of the library, plentiful availability of helpful staff, and and presentation of library books to enhance appeal and selection easily merits this as 5 star rating. read more

As librarian, of course it is my duty to check out one. I actually needed to find a place to do some work, as I was at a conference and telecommuting. This library is well lit, spacious and very well organized. I got a nice seat with an arm desk, and foot stool thing and the internet connection was awesome. You didn't need a card to log in to the system, and the staff was very friendly. I doubt I'll be back in the WY anytime soon, but this is one town that must love their library because is an example of tax-payers dollars hard at work and a true community use space. read more

This is a great library. It has a fantastic selection of books, wonderful community involvement activities, and even a small indoor playground in the kids' section. So why am I giving it one star? In a word: COVID. Since the virus, this library has been openly discriminating against people with disabilities that make it impossible for them to wear masks. And yes, these disabilities do exist, little as people like to acknowledge them: COPD, asthma, disabilities that impede motor function (can't put a mask on when your hands are shaking too badly) PTSD, anxiety, the list goes on. There are people who CANNOT WEAR A MASK, yet this library refuses to acknowledge this and forces everyone to wear a mask to use their facilities. They attempt to cover for this by insisting those people can and should use curbside service, but anyone who's been to a library knows this isn't the same. You can't browse the shelves on the library's website the same way you would in the building. You can't meet a group in one of the meeting rooms with curbside service. If you don't have a computer and need one to fill out a job application or, I don't know, a form that allows you to keep receiving life-saving medication or something, good luck filling it out on your phone, because if you have a disability the library doesn't like, you're not allowed inside to use their computers! This treatment of one of society's most vulnerable populations is illegal. Yet the library continues with it long after the statewide mask mandate has expired. There is little reason to continue to exclude the disabled from making full use of the library's services, yet they keep at it. I'd like to think it's an oversight and not an active sense of malice or bigotry that keeps this policy in place, but after 2020, I am not inclined to see the best in people anymore. read more

Our library has three floors, and conference rooms. First floor has self checkin for books, information desk inside the main floor by the door. Also the mainfloor has dvds, where you can get your library card. The 2nd floor is the children's floor. Has a story time room,play area for the kids. Self check out for books. Information desk when you exit elevator or stairs. Lets kids be kids. Third floor has some self help books and other stuff for adults. Also another information desk. The library offers a great summer reading for all ages. Staff is always friendly and eaver to help with what ever you need. They also have study areas, and computers to lool up books in the library. Glad Cheyenne got and upgraded library. read more

It's seems it's the only public library in Cheyenne. I have been to some of the best libraries in this country, Laramie county library is one of the best. Check out their 2nd floor, you will never see so many kids in a library elsewhere. The library has 3 floors, each floor is very big and it has some study rooms, so you won't be disturbed by the happy kids. The staffs here were really friendly and helpful. The restroom was amazingly clean. It's really good to see that this library attracts so many kids. read more

I came in and found they were having a book sale - closing out the book shop for renovations and the books were around 5 or 10 or 15 cents for most all of them! The library is comfortable, well-lit, good internet connectivity. Pretty good sized, and there's a restaurant in the building - buy your food and drinks and consume them right there in the library! Alas it doesn't seem to get as much use as it deserves - I spent a couple hours here on a Saturday afternoon and there were only a few patrons. read more

Nice library. Lot's of selection and mostly friendly staff . I do have issues with the 3rd floor "QUIET" area. Every time-- and I mean every time-- I go there, the library staff at the front desk is chattering noisily. It's annoying, and they're breaking the rules. How come no one enforces the quiet rule there? read more

Very nice library! Much nicer than the outdated one it replaced. My daughter absolutely loves the childrens area. Plenty of activities to keep her busy while I look for books to read. The library as a whole is very well designed. Plenty of parking too! Definitely a fan! read more

This is the best library I've ever been to. My wife likes it here because she is a book worm, and is always reading about something. She also has varied tastes in books, and they always seem to have what she's looking for. Myself, I never really read unless I have to. I'm just not a big fan of reading. However, that being said, I went tonight with my wife and ended up checking out three different Bass Guitar music books. I guess this library truly does have something for everyone, including the non-reader! read more

I have been a longtime lover and frequent user of libraries since I was a child. At first, I thought this library was very nice -- it's clean, has an attractive interior, and they allow you to bring coffee inside. But after several visits I've had some disappointing experiences. First, as another reviewer mentioned, there is a $2.00 fee to check out movies. In my experience, library DVDs are often in barely-adequate condition -- I have yet to get one that did not skip or stall at least once during the film. But I accepted this because they were free to check out. I decided it wasn't worth paying $2.00 for a DVD that is likely in poor condition. Second, they charge people for holding items past a certain period of time. Every other library I've been to has simply pulled items from the hold shelf if the user doesn't pick them up during the hold period. So if you are out of town when your requested item becomes available, you don't have to worry about being charged for it. Not here... maybe nobody ever leaves Cheyenne? I don't know. Third, they charge people to borrow items from other libraries. So you are stuck with the items in this particular library. Their selection is OK, but there's a lot more they could add. (P.S. Notice a theme with the fees?) Fourth, they have completely forgotten to consider people with developmental disabilities who might want to use the library. They have a list of things they offer for people with disabilities -- and it sounds very nice, but it includes people who have trouble hearing or seeing -- not people who are developmentally disabled. Fifth, some of their employees are nice... but there are a few who have a rigid idea of how rules should be applied. You would think in a library they would be able to broaden their perspectives a little. Of course, the selection might be a reflection of those perspectives. (Sigh). It looks like I won't be going here as much as I hoped. Give me an old library with thousands of books and broad-minded people. I don't care if the pages are tattered and you can only have water inside. I just want to enjoy the library again! read more

A really nice library! Spacious and well-designed with friendly and helpful staff and a good selection of books, music, and video games. The entire campus is clean, well-lit, and inviting. They even have a small tea / coffee shop. It's an enjoyable space to spend time reading and relaxing. read more

OMG...we moved here and went to this huge library, so excited to see they had a good selection of movies/DVD's....only to discover that this library CHARGES you $2.00 to rent each movie! On top of this, you only get it for 4 days! I have been all over the US and lived in different states, and there is not ONE library that I know of anywhere in the United States that charges a fee to rent movies/movie games! The library is supposed to be free...that is what we pay our taxes for and how the library system is designed to work! Not in this city/state! They found a way to make the library into a business and put financial burden on the patrons...they are just another "Blockbuster" video store making money off of taxpayers who should expect a library to be a library...free rental of books/movies/music/etc! This library is huge, has 3 floors, lots of books and reference items, which is nice, but their policy to charge fees to rent movies is truly disappointing! There is no excuse for any library to act as a business! There are other ways to raise money if they are needing it to cover building costs, etc. As for our family, we will go to Redbox and rent videos for a dollar. We refuse to rent any videos at this library because as a taxpayer, I should not have to. read more

All comments I read were true, good and bad. I agree with all of them. There are drawbacks to any public facility. Two things I will say in it's favor are: the little bookstore on the first floor is terrific. I recently purchased a rare book that was probably worth $50 on Amazon for a mere $2 ! I was elated! and the other small item is the drop box for old eyeglasses. I've worn them most of my life and I can't imagine not being able to purchase such a necessity. The library makes it very easy to donate to a less fortunate person and that makes me very happy. read more
