There are no public restrooms here, and I believe you have to ask for a key or bribe the librarian. Just kidding!! I enjoyed seeing the quilts hanging from the wall, and also made some small talk with some of the locals here. This library is much nicer than my neighborhood library in DIA, but reading is reading, right? Don't matter where you go as long as you can get the same access to literature.

There's a cozy gas fireplace in the public seating area for the cold winters. There's tables to enjoy the free WiFi. The two times we were there the staff was having a story time for little ones and an after school program for older children. While we were in Grand Lakes Verizon's data network was down for two days. This was a wonderful spot to catch up on emails and the news. I noticed a coffeemaker with pods for patrons. Beautifully situated among open spaces, with a Frisbee golf area just across the parking lot, it also has walking/bike paths, a bike repair area (we LOVED that!) drive thru book return, and friendly, helpful staff. While, not the largest of libraries...for this "small town", what a library it has! You can put on hold any item and if this particular location does not have the item, they will get it for you. I read a lot, and use the online system for asking for books, and have been very happy with how that all works. I also appreciate how they will try to get inter library loans for me as well, and consider requests for purchase.

The library was so inviting and I could hear the sound of happy children on a Tuesday morning event while browsing the books on sale. I did not have cash or credit card so did not leave with any books, but know I can come back before 7 pm on a weekday! The bathrooms were super clean and the whole place looked modern. It was built in 2008 but looks much newer and well-kept. The librarian suggested I go upstairs and this was the real treat. I must have looked like I wanted something, so the upstairs librarian helped me find a biography on Oppenheimer as their book of Prometheus Unbound was checked out, which was the book the recent movie was based which I watched on my plane ride yesterday. I saw some comfy seats by the window with amazing views of the river, so I read in peace and quiet. I plan to come back each day to read another chapter! It was such an inviting space and a hub of community activities. If I lived here, I would come daily. Amazing hours-they open at 8 am on weekdays! In the time I was there I saw so many ways that this library is breathing life into their community: librarians on a first name basis with the guests, free pads in the women's restroom, snacks for kids getting out of school, used books for sale, etc! My favorite part? The young man in glasses with curly hair who got me signed up for my library card. He introduced me to ALL the amazing benefits of being a library cardholder and ended it with a fist bump! Just precious and is going to be a highlight of my week for sure. The building itself is huge, thoughtfully organized, and full of natural light, which makes it a great place to spend a few hours exploring. There are so many different ways to enjoy the space. You can grab a book and settle into one of the cozy reading areas, reserve a study room, or stop by the coffee shop. There's also a fantastic kid-friendly area and even fish tanks that add to the calm, relaxing atmosphere. One of my favorite parts is the location right along Boulder Creek. You can step outside and walk the path, enjoy the scenery, and then come back inside to read or work. It feels like the perfect mix of nature, community, and learning. The small one is like a small jungle gym one but the big one, in the junior room, is a proper curved one that even i took a ride on. The kids books are great and they also have a good selection of DVDs you can borrow. The library was a fantastic place to just relax a bit with the two little ones. The toddler got to run around and flip through books while the baby crawled around and (tried to) build with blocks.

This is why we used the rooms, they are the most accessible way for us to visit the library. Well today, one of the upstairs librarians made us move out of the study room we were in, granted it was just after our scheduled time elapsed, but it's the last 45 minutes before closing, there were no reservations after us, and its never been an issue any of the dozens of times we've visited. She popped her head in to tell us we had to go somewhere else so "other people can use the room." After a little back and forth, mostly just asking why its an issue now, we obliged and packed up, then went downstairs to leave. We spoke with a different librarian down stairs to get more insight and all he offered was "we have to make the rooms look available so more people reserve them." He repeated the same answer after we pointed out that no one can make a reservation within the last hour of operation. If there had been an actual reservation after us, thats a different convo. We get up and leave, no issue. The irony that we had to ask a lady that was still in the room when we showed up to leave and then wait for a few minutes while she packed up is just hilarious. I'm severely disappointed in this visit, there seems to be inconsistent enforcement of policy, as well as asinine policies (ex. at the end of previous paragraph). Not really feeling like I want to go to this location anymore.
