Free to the public, you should really consider making a small donation if you visit. The tour is self-guided and we had the place to ourselves. Every room was well appointed with period furniture-- well it was a Governors house after all. The laundry room was interesting, as was the fallout shelter, for those of us who lived through the 60s. I'm glad we had a chance to visit and "see how some politicians might have lived".

The ground has several sculptures around the outside, with one large cowboy riding a bucking bronco representing the spirit of Wyoming. The building had quite a bit of wood accents throughout and I really liked the restoration outcome with the wonderful stained glass ceilings in the senate and house chambers as well as the rotunda. There have been several restorations and there was a plaque for each displayed throughout the building. They also had a fun Hall of History where you enter through an old safe's door to get into a set of rooms with TV's and videos that can be played that tell the story of the capitol and the area around Cheyenne. It was definitely worth the visit, and I would recommend the stop to family and friends.

And I was actually really impressed with the entire experience. The museum was calm. Had a lot of history in it that you could stand and read and not feel like you were shuffled through like cattle.
