The location is fun and whimsical. The staff is very nice and friendly. The rabbit poutine (small) with the mustard sauce was nice, I've never had poutine with a sauce like this and it was so good. Not too strong of a mustard taste. I wish we tried the devil sauce, maybe next time! The French onion soup was good, very herbaceous. We also got the mushroom ravioli with smoked ducked. The ravioli itself was very tasty so if you dont like duck you don't have to do the up charge to enjoy but I do suggest it all together. They compliment each other very well. It's a lot of rabbit and duck dishes, so don't expect much other protein on the menu but I will say nothing is gamey tasting. Highly suggest if your in the old Quebec area

Make reservations. It's quite intimate inside and fills up quick. Staff speak both French and English and knew to give us menus in English. Absolutely adorable restaurant outside and inside. You feel like you're in a rabbit burrow. The decor is carefully thought out and charming. The pulled rabbit poutine was great with a mustard sauce instead of the brown gravy you usually get with poutine. The small appetizer poutine was already the perfect size to share along with our smoked duck winter salad and onion soup. Onion soup was made with ale and was covered in cheese. The only thing was that I wished the soup had more broth than cheese. But the onions were tender and cooked down thoroughly. The cheese pull you get is foot long! The broth had a depth of flavor that is not replicated elsewhere. I had the honey pie years ago and remembered that it was sweet, but very good. We didn't have room for dessert, but the maple amaretto creme brulee sounded amazing. All in all, a great meal everytime.
Dinner was wonderful at Le Lapin Sauté. The atmosphere was perfect on the patio, and we cannot imagine a nicer staff. Loved our dinner!
Everything here is amazing!!! Best french onion soup and the salted honey tart was a perfect way to end the meal. Definitely sit on the terrace if the weather permits!
Great service! Welcoming and prompt. Had an "Old Quebec" cocktail and was very well mixed and yummy. Perfect for a vaca lunch. The cassoulet with rabbit and duck delish; all of us loved our food. Highly recommended.
The bread was really good especially with the salty, soft butter that was super easy to spread. I tried rabbit for the first time. It wasn't bad at all! Kind of like beef, but it was cold, which threw me off a bit. We got the fondue, which was smaller than I expected. It was good, just not super memorable. There was another rabbit dish too that was more like chicken it was a little dry, but I think that's just how rabbit is. Luckily, the sauce it came with helped balance it out. The roasted potatoes on the side were nice, though they could've used a bit more salt (but I found one that was salted just right and redeemed the whole batch). For dessert, we shared a poached pear and a caramel cake. The caramel cake was a bit on the sweet side but still pretty good. Overall, dinner felt a little random, but I'm glad I tried everything! The glasses also had the initials LS which are my initials and we told them and they gladly gave me a cup for memory.
The restaurant is just as quite popular and very cozy from when I remember visiting years ago. My family chose a few rabbit dishes and French onion soup. Service is pretty quick. The food was delicious though the French onion soup was more of an acquired taste.
What a phenomenal experience! Everything from the cozy ambiance to delicious cocktails, fantastic service and creative, flavorful dishes was top notch. I loved the fondue, onion soup, salted honey pie and pork shoulder! Perfection!

Such a cozy restaurant! I joined on a weekday and was able to get seated without a reservation, even though the space was almost full. We did need to sit outside, but it wasn't too cold and there were heaters. We tried the pot pie and the poutine. The pot pie was amazing! Steaming hot with a flaky crust, it really hit the spot. We also tried the poutine. The gravy wasn't my favorite but the meat was good and fries were crispy. Overall a very cool spot to check out.
Was a super recommended spot online for food in Quebec so we had to try. Located in the heart of old Quebec, there is plenty to do before/after or waiting for your table. We lucked out with the fall weather and was seated outside. It is overall a small place that is kinda crowded for large groups but glad we were able to get a table for 6. The server was super friendly and enthusiastic about the menu. Food didn't really stand out too much but was glad to try out their rabbit dishes.
We stumbled into this cute little place as we were in the lower part of old town. The onion soup was delicious and we shared a sampler platter- the food was excellent. Megan was our server and she was very helpful. She suggested a sangria that was delicious. Definitely recommend.

A Delicious Lunch in the Heart of Old Québec We stopped into Lapin Sauté for lunch following a wonderful walking tour of Old Québec, and it proved to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy a memorable meal. Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. Visiting Quebec City. We found Le Lapin on Yelp! We ordered the to-share plate. Wow! The plate was filled with delicious goodness including duck, rabbit, hummus, vegetables etc... I also had a great Seatea Kombucha made from Nordic sea buckhorn. Great lunch experience. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. read more

This is great quality restaurant in a great location. Their rabbit saddle was amazing. Service was great as well. The waitress came and checked several times, quickly filling the water. It is small inside, so reservation may be needed for high season. I just walked in on a Wednesday evening and got seated quickly. Overall I had great experience. read more
This was the best meal of the year for us so far! I still think about that Pulled Rabbit Poutine. We could not get a dinner reservation here due to nothing be available for weeks so we stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and were sat 15 minutes later, we got so lucky! The service was fantastic and the food was just incredible, and a very special shout out to our cocktails as well. We were so impressed by everything. The finest French cuisine I've ever had! Wanted to explore French Canadian cuisine while on our trip to Quebec City & found this to be a good place for it! We had Foie Gras, rabbit pot pie & poutine- all very good! To finish, we enjoyed a salted honey pie which was so unique & delicious! If you are not that adventurous, there are some safer dishes to try too- French onion soup& cheese fondue. Service was a bit slow but we were not in a hurry so it wasn't a problem. Cute & cozy restaurant in the Le Petit Champlain shopping district! read more
Just wow. What a quaint, homey, cozy place to eat some incredible rabbit on a cold, snowy day!! Get a reservation, as this place had no openings all weekend. We scored a lunch reservation, and it was one of the last ones. The food: The small rabbit poutine was outstanding. The rabbit was unbelievably tender. And the gravy had such a rich, deep flavor. Perfect for one. My wife raved about her onion soup. My rabbit leg and duck sausage cassoulet was out of this world! The rabbit was again tender and tasty. The duck sausage - a little sweet, a little salty, unctuous, a true delight! The beans and bacon complimented everything perfectly. I'm a fan of rabbit! Just plain delicious. It had been eight years since I last busted this cozy and delicious restaurant and my sweet memories of it held true. I cannot rave about this place enough. From the stunning exterior decor to the rabbit focussed menu to the welcoming vibe for kiddos despite the elevated menu... I love all of it. It feels as if you're dining in the kitchen of the most inviting home. They were very welcoming to our family of four that included a baby and toddler. We shared the rabbit poutine, rabbit pot pie and sampled local Québécois cheeses. We also thoroughly enjoyed their non-alcoholic menu featuring local and seasonal ingredients. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. In summary- you won't regret making this restaurant a priority during your visit to Quebec City read more
What an incredible restaurant. It is small and quaint. It feels as if you're dining in a small village in France. The staff is wonderful and the food even better. The French onion soup was fantastic and loaded with cheese. It's perfect for cheese lovers. The Carrot and Pea soup was awesome as well. It was a great way to start. They didn't have much options for vegetarians but whatever I had was excellent. I had the warm bread cheese fondue ( the most delicious on the trip) and homemade lemonade all delicious, fresh and worth revisiting. Le Lapin Sauté was my choice for a belated birthday dinner while we were touring through Québec City and it was delicious! I think service knocked them down just a little bit though. On the night of our reservation, it started raining maybe 10 minutes before our reservation. While the staff acknowledged our arrival, they also let us know we couldn't stand inside due to space. However, they also don't offer much of an awning outside so...luckily some of the buildings just across the street had doorways that were slightly recessed. Looking over the menu, it's clear Le Lapin Sauté specializes in rabbit and duck, it's one of the reasons I chose it after all. We tried the French onion soup, the appetizer sampler, the rabbit saddle, and the braised rabbit with duck sausage. For dessert we added their famed salted honey pie. Everything we had was tasty but it did take a long time to come out. We had even asked for the appetizers to come first since we had walked around the city all day and were pretty hungry. Nope, still at least a 35-45 min wait. Alas, it was still worth it in the end! The French onion soup was chocked full of onions in a rich broth topped with an ample amount of cheese! The sampler plate had many little things to enjoy but the rabbit rillettes was definitely my favorite! The crostinis don't do the plate much justice so do yourself a favor and request their house made rolls - they are warm and fluffy, you're welcome. Between the two entrees, I liked the roasted saddle more. The duxelle really helped to elevate the dish and I liked the roasted potatoes on the side. The braised rabbit seemed a little overdone? It was borderline tough but the duck sausage was pretty good and I really enjoyed the beans on this dish, especially with the bread! Dessert was a slice of salted honey pie and I appreciated the sparkling candle they stuck on top for my birthday - it certainly caught the attention of the dining room for better or worse haha. The pie was so good! It wasn't too sweet and the custard a nice, rich caramel flavor throughout. read more

Came to Quebec for a food trip. Did not disappoint. The appetizer discoverables were good and the fondue nice and warm. Service was good and the place was nice and cozy with tiny bunnies all around. Very cute! read more
We had dinner at this restaurant, because it was selling rabbit meat and duck meat here. We would like to try. We had a Quebec Discoveries ($32) that included duck breast, salmon, rabbit meat mix, country pate (pork and chicken livers), and Quebec Cheese; also we ordered the rabbit leg ($32) that included a rabbit leg and some beans. Food tastes not too bad, but not having surprises. The rabbit leg tasted not marinated, but it did have sauce on the top. Salmon was raw that I had mentioned I don't eat raw stuff, but waitress didn't remember it. Rabbit meat mix and duck meat were like tearing meat and put them together. 2 pieces for each one. The Quebec Discoveries was a bit over the price, the leg was ok. I like patio seats, but not at night, too many bugs around, especially by the garden. So try to get there early if you want to try. Also they have text system that it could send you a message and inform you. That's cool ah! You can still explore when you waiting for the seat. read more

I walk into Le Lapin Sauté in Quebec, on a very busy Saturday night. The owner greets me: "Hello Monsieur Boss! Please follow me, we prepared a table just for you." Right smack with the nice view, kept just for the Rebel Chef. The best table! That's my French restaurant. But they call only one guy - ME - "Boss". They assigned two bussers to my table, while other tables had nobody. They know a review is coming! Got some beer. Kicked back and drank.. I also order a very hearty Québécois type soup and - quixotically - a burger with a fish patty, that was too good to not order, since this is a fisheries province after all. The soup was phenomenal. Drinks extra smooth with enough alcohol % to put down an elephant. Main course was served to me - to me alone - by both the waiter and buss-gal; to make sure all was as it should be. Restaurants know the "Boss" has arrived, when the Rebel Chef is in town making reviews and posing for photos! Salmon patty burger was fat, not fatty at all and nicely seared. Hot but not overcooked. Its ingredients were fresh. Pitch perfect old town setting with small kitchen that cooks up Quebec-Americain! The desserts are delicious. I noticed some out of towners, they order the same thing they get at home: spaghetti, salad. Not me! I'm legit and order the unknown, weird, dishes. Need taste? So, follow me on Yelp! My husband's favorite restaurant because he loves rabbit meat. We can't find good rabbit restaurants in the Bay Area. While visiting Quebec City's UNESCO site (old Quebec City, oldest city in North America). We came early to get outdoor seating because we have a small dog. They only allow service dogs. Our dog is well behaved. He liked the little garden setting outside. Inside looks small. Food is the best part. We ordered the following: - Quebec discovery with foie gris with a little of everything from appetizers section 4/5 - rabbit saddle 6/5 nice piece of rabbit with tomato flavored meat and lots of vegetables green beans and red cabbage and the second sauce - dory fish with the same vegetables 5/5 - cheese fondue 5/5 small bowl but delicious - French onion soup 5/5 - sangria 4/5 - le juliette drink 5/5 aloe and watermelon juice not super sweet Service was good read more

The Québec discoveries platter (consists of Duck gravlax, smoked salmon, rabbit rillettes, duck rillettes, Québec cheese, roasted garlic and dill pickles) was delicious along with the bread and salted butter. The Rabbit pot pie with fruit chutney was also delicious but the filling inside the pot pie was a bit underwhelming. read more

Stopped for lunch with my son. Tried a couple apps and drinks. Service was great! Food was delicious... poutine with rabbit and Quebec cheese fondue. The bartender even noticed we had more cheese left and the garlic toast was gone so he brought some extra bread. Will definitely be back for a full meal! read more
This is such a cozy little restaurant located in the beautiful Petit-Champlain district. The fireplace added a nice touch and was pleasant considering how freezing cold it was outside. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it definitely had a warm and welcoming atmosphere that we really appreciated! I would highly recommend making a reservation here if you are looking to dine in! The service was super friendly and quick as we were immediately shown to our table and our order was taken promptly as well! My favorite items on the menu were the Onion Soup with Red Beer and Cantonnier Cheese Gratin and the Duck Foie Gras. For our main courses, we also ordered the Cassoulet with Duck Sausage and Braised Rabbit Leg and the Rabbit Pot Pie with the Fruit Chutney. While the appetizers we ordered were amazing, we felt that the main courses definitely lacked a touch of seasoning. However, I'd definitely come back just for the appetizers and atmosphere and to try some desserts next time! read more

This is a charming rabbit focused Café on the beautiful cobblestone streets of Quebec city. It is small and dainty & has a beautiful outdoor patio if you are lucky enough to be seated there. As you dine, you can also watch the tourist strolling by which is an added bonus. The service is very friendly and assists you in picking out the perfect meal to choose. The menu options while heavily focused on rabbit preparation also do offer some vegetable and non-game options for those interested. This seemed like the most authentic eatery in this very touristy neighborhood and despite the heavy tourism we are glad we chose it and would surely return. read more
