I doubt this place will last long but it did the trick for me. But maybe I am just buying into the curse of this location. It's probably seen a dozen businesses int he last 15 years, but I don't count that against the place in the review. I have been several times for lunch. I usually build my own soup. I like the rice noodles the best with the spicy broth. I put one of their oils in my soup once (forgetting the name of it) and it ruined the dish. Made my tongue tingle. Now I just add a little vinegar from the condiment bar. The add-ons for the soup are quite flavorless (quail egg, bok choi, broccoli). I found beef and enoki to be the best combination. I will try the buns one of these days. On a positive note, they do seem to have good deals on beer. read more

If you're vegetarian, Lao Wang has great noodle bowls. You can customize your noodle type and ingredients by adding mushrooms, etc. The bowl itself is MASSIVE and could be shared by two or even saved for a second meal later. They also have a vegetarian soy chicken bowl, which I didn't try but it looked good when a friend ordered it! The prices are reasonable and there is plenty of indoor seating and a few tables outdoors as well. They are also on the Axxess card (2018). read more

I came here for the first time and ordered a create your own noodle bowl and told the lady at the cashier (Diana) that I am deadly allergic to all nuts and sesame seeds and she assured me they wouldn't put it in. When I got my bowl there were peanuts and sesame seeds in it. They remade it for and the second time they made it they took out the peanuts but not sesame seeds. If I didn't see this I would've gotten a horrible allergic reaction. They refused to reimburse me for such an inconvenience and life threatening issue. They have very bad service. We ordered two buns and a noodle with a fountain drink. At first, they forgot to give us the soda cup. Later, they missed our bun and then the waiter gave our bun to other table. The promised us to make another bun, but that took us forever to get it. Do not recommend this restaurant. read more

This was such a good find! I don't really enjoy going into Isla Vista, however, I come into town just for the food! This place is authentic and delicious. We usually order the build-your-own bowl and as an app we get the buns with pork belly and popcorn chicken. More than enough food! Pair with a beer and its a perfect lunch!
